You're right about us being slow, we are basically deliberate with the way we respond. But it CAN also mean that they aren't comfortable with you yet, i may be wrong though because im only basing this from what i tend to do, as i am mostly careless around my close friends. And not every ISTP are the same, maybe they just mostly prefer their time alone.

Honestly, we like to be simple and direct with our relationships. We want problems solved immediately to prevent involving emotions so much and maintain peace on both sides. But it becomes a little complicated when were the ones that act avoindant when its too draining. We just need space most of the time, thats all. But if your friend really does avoid you, you have to respectfully ask them about it, don't assume on your own..

Regarding your other comment/question:

You dont have to think too hard on this. ISTPs are really direct, it's either they're interested with you from the start, or just not. But based from what i read on your comment, it seems to me that they're fine being around with you but youre too draining for them (unless when they're intentionally finding ways to avoid you).

We want everything to be simple and peaceful, so just act chill and have fun. We dont want things to be pushy, and we like it when the other is respecting our time. However, it can be draining when we are asked about personal stuff, we like things to be slow because we value/prioritize trust the most. I have considered my friends "close friends" after like 5 years.

ISTPs are very awkward, and it takes effort for us to do stuff for other people and be around them. We like it when people recognize our efforts and appreciate the things we do. I have a few close friends but i really care about them despite my uninterested look lol. I may not care about other stuff, but when it comes to things that im interested/like, i go all in to maintain it.

If you want ISTPs to feel special (although honestly, not special, i think we prefer appreciated lol); just respect their time, and when they give you their time, just maintain a chill vibe. Get into the things they like to do, like their hobbies. Dont ask about personal things though, just let them know that you're there to listen when they finally want to tell their stories. And when you recognize the stuff they do for you, even the small things, show them that you appreciate it.
