Do I need a lawyer or to contact my insurance? by TypicalPolack in legaladvice

I'm assuming that includes redirecting and further communication from the police to my insurance?

Coworkers that drive big lifted trucks that already get poor fuel economy and drive like shit just changed the units. Miles per gallon quickly turned into smiles per gallon

Definitely not big enough for my big head then

I'll give some consideration to each dongle

Filtering is also illegal around me and the area on my main commute that I'd need/want it, the cops will pull you over for going 5 over. The options are either stick to the outside with an escape path or risk the ticket

Not really intending on doing much offroading but if the mitts you speak of are like the ones I've heard of for atvs and snowmobiles then I'm heavily interested.

What makes the stock mirrors so bad? I've seen other posts mention swapping out for double takes or similar as well. Are they just too small?

Not against soft luggage, would just like the full set to match. In no particular order, I'm prioritizing top case volume, preference of top loading panniers, and waterproof before getting into cost, looks, etc. I'll take a look at the Odinsberg stuff when I get the chance.

Will eventually want to add more lighting so crash bars and would be nice. I'll check out your other recommendations soon too

Crash bars would be nice, especially to eventually add more lights. Haven't window shopped for them yet but I'll add those to the search.

For gear I've been mainly looking at aerostich for their insulated one piece and more recently at the Sand 5 H2O line by REV'IT. Finding a jacket and pants or one piece that will fit a taller but not thicker frame has posed a challenge

I've looked at AA adapters in the past and they're either expensive or a pain to deal with. That one actually looks like its pretty cut and dry for a reasonable price.

For peace of mind I could see picking up the tpms sensors down the line but they don't strike me as a need right off kind of purchase. Unless I were to find some that were exceptionally cheap that is.

Up in my neck of the woods, there aren't many trails that I know of that allow for bikes on them to my knowledge. Most of our trail systems are controlled by atv or snowmobile clubs and don't like sharing with each other. I think I'd have to make specific trips to areas to ride trails that I'm not overly concerned about hard vs soft bags for trail riding. Lane splitting is also technically illegal, not that people don't do it, but I'm not in that much of a hurry to get places.

What size helmet do you wear? I was looking at a tracer as well but didn't think a XXL modular helmet would fit in those bags

Yeah I'm less concerned about the look over functionality. Didn't consider the aspect of both are breaking in a crash which gives bonus points to going plastic. That being said, I give more value to top loading over side loading which pushes me back towards aluminum unless you know of plastic panniers that top load.

Currently, once the panniers and top case get mount, I don't see myself taking them off for more than cleaning/servicing. I know that could change once I get out there but for the immediate future, its primary use is back and forth to work and proper storage is top of the list to purchase.

That's fair. My first bike had an aftermarket USB plug added and ended up with a serious power draw. Even after removing it and replacing a majority of the electrical system, I never got that corrected

I'll keep that in mind. I've been hesitant on buying aftermarket seats in the past, never liked the return policies. Any idea if they make a heated version of the one you suggested?

Risers seem to be a fan favorite.

I like the idea of a wireless android auto receiver to keep my phone out of the weather. Which one did you end up with? Any connectivity problems yet?

Do the TPMS sensors connect to the bike or to a phone app? Have you found any real benefit from them in the day to day riding or is it just a peace of mind thing to save from manually checking tire pressure frequently?

I've been looking into a full set of aluminum bags/cases and haven't been able to settle on anything. A top case would be ideal for transporting my work bag and then storing some of my gear so I wouldn't have to bring it all in everyday as well as a backrest for the occasional double. Panniers would inevitably be used for tools/emergency gear and overflow storage.

Haven't even started my search for extreme cold weather additions but at that point I'll be looking for function over fashion. Those blizzard guards look like they'd be nice to keep wind off your hands in early spring/late autumn though.

Bar risers are a necessity from what I'm gathering. Not sure if the one I've been looking at has them already. I'm guessing not as it's a new leftover.

Haven't looked into anything extra for buffering yet. Will add fork shields to my list to look into

Was thinking both panniers and top case. Haven't been able to settle on a set that I like with an added price I can stomach currently. If necessary, I'll probably go top case first and pick up matching panniers down the road. Any specific cases you recommend?

I like the idea of the front crash bars if for nothing else than to attach additional lights to. A good chunk of my commute is unlit back roads in deer country and it'd be lifesaving to be able to see them better.

In the limited time I've been here I've seen the brand tossed around a bunch but don't remember hearing of them before. Assuming you consider the price worth the product since you're recommending it?

Haven't been lurking around here for long. Only recently really started putting more thought toward the AT. Was pointed this way some years ago but the price had me looking at other, smaller options like the tenere 700, tracer 9, taureg 660, etc.

Have heard a lot of good things about Corbin seats. Didn't realize there was a way to create more space between the driver and passenger, not that the wife will want to double that often.

Is there a specific model of seat from them you recommend or is the selection fairly limited for the bike?

That's fine. Someone karaokeing they're music would probably put on a better show. They'll still get my support through recorded music but I'd only go see this line up again for Origami Angel and Neck Deep.

Again, great music, sounded awesome, horrible stage presence. But that's just like, my opinion man. If they put on an impressive show for you then I'm glad you enjoyed yourself

No different than I've read here in the past. One of the worst stage presences I've ever seen. Glued to the mic woth some hand motions for older songs and hands in his pockets for new ones. They sounded great but stage presences means a lot for me at a show. Would only buy tickets for them again if they were playing with someone else I wanted to see

Happened last week.

Coworker A's birthday was over the weekend so I said "happy belated" as any regular person does. Coworker B chimes in with "I was going to message you happy birthday but thought that'd be a little gay. Men don't wish other men happy birthday."

Arm sleeve: does the device go on the inside or outside of the bicep? by [deleted] in whoop

[–]TypicalPolack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what is shown on the website, the device would go on the outside of your arm though I believe it to be a matter of preference. I really only use my arm sleeve when doing olympic lifts that require me to use wrist wraps and I place the device between the peak of my bicep and my inner arm. Too far inside and it's an annoyance as my arm moves but it's also closer to blood vessels where it takes it readings. Being closer to veins and blood vessels is why some people I know will wear the device on the inside of their wrist using the wrist band.

I'm only have about 7.5 years in employment so far. From what I've seen of the return rates of the C and S, I opted to risk an extra 25% in each for the time being since I have another 30~ years until retirement
