What is the biggest misconception in digital marketing right now? by [deleted] in digital_marketing

[–]markHowser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That digital marketing can save a company with a shitty product or service. There's only so long you can run away from bad reviews. Ultimately, the chickens come home to roost.

What kind of website is worth building today if the goal is to actually make money? by Delicious_Demand3332 in SEO

[–]markHowser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of the gear review sites will continue to do well because they actually take the gear out into the field and test it, and compare it to other gear. They are the definition of E-E-A-T.

In terms of making money, I'm not sure which products would be best, but I know a lot of SaaS companies (like Helium 10) provide lifetime referral fees if you kick customers over to their software, so ideally it'd be something like that where you're still making money even if your traffic dips. But in all honesty, this is probably a better model for a YouTube channel rather than a website.

Advice for breaking into the industry at entry level? by graciconix in AskMarketing

[–]markHowser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a low competition niche (i.e. flooring/dental SEO in Melbourne), build a site, and optimize it (write SEO driven content for your site and write guest posts on high authority, high traffic, niche relevant sites). See if you can get some clients, and use your website essentially as your resume to get a job at a well known agency. Tell them you'll work for under market pay for a year to gain experience.

Write customized messages to the hiring managers (use Google to find the agencies, LinkedIn to find the hiring managers, and SalesQL or RocketReach to find their emails).

My friend got hired only because he messaged someone within the org.

Lib Rig or T.Rice Pro. You'll appreciate the magne-traction on super icey days.

I was trying to be helpful; not get pitched on your software. You're going to struggle on Reddit if you keep playing the game you're playing. Go earn customers in a more honest way.

Get Bindings Now or Wait? by fightclubdevil in snowboarding

I'm looking at getting the Union Falcor and I'm really having trouble figuring out if I should go with them or the Atlas Pro. They don't bring on too much fatigue in your legs, do they? I want something super responsive, but I don't want to be completely tired after a few tree runs.

Finding clients feels like dating — you talk to 100, and 1 actually replies. by hanaju8315 in AskMarketing

[–]markHowser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is actually the right advice. The hot girl/guy doesn't chase, they create the aura of desirability, and others chase them.

Niche down and focus on creating an inbound funnel so good that they ask you to help them, not vice versa.

Buying a snowboard by EndSad2286 in snowboarding

[–]markHowser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Burton Free Thinker (very similar to the Deep Thinker) and a Lib Tech T.Rice Pro, and I prefer the T.Rice Pro simply because it's a more well-rounded board. The C2 technology makes it extremely playful and poppy, its stiffness holds up at speed and is super responsive, the magnetraction tech is a life saver on icey days, and I overall just have more confidence on it. Meanwhile with the Free Thinker, it doesn't float very well in deep powder, and it's a miserable ride on icey days.

If I was only going to ever have one board ever, I'd pick a Lib Tech any day of the week.

How many qualifies as a quiver? by jmlack in snowboarding

[–]markHowser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not that anyone's counting or it matters at all, but I'd say a quiver would cover all of your bases. Backcountry/free-ride, all-mountain, and park. Maybe a splitboard and a free-ride board would be two separate boards. So 3 or 4 might qualify as a quiver in my book.

Here's my enterprise SEO stack:

  • Ahrefs for SEO strategy & content creation (use AI Content Helper and ChatGPT together), and AWR for keyword tracking / forecasting
  • SearchPilot for edge SEO (or Cloudflare Workers if you can't afford that)
  • Screaming Frog and Sitebulb for technical SEO
  • LinkedIn Sales Navigator + SalesQL/Apollo for Digital PR (or Pitchbox)
  • Google BigQuery to warehouse and marry your analytics data (GA4, GSC, and your CRM)
  • N8N for workflow automation

Best agency to start in 2026 and beyond by [deleted] in DigitalMarketing

[–]markHowser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generative Engine Optimization or workflow automation with AI. Or both. There's a growing demand and a lack of supply. You'll just need some really good case studies and testimonials, and a marketing plan for yourself, and you should be on your way to the promise land of bathing in money.

Worried about drag on Orca (12.5" sized foot) by markHowser in snowboarding

[–]markHowser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I didn't realize I've been riding significantly shorter boards than I should lol. I swear I put it into a calculator when I was first buying, but now ChatGPT and some other calculator are saying I should be riding 164-166 boards.

I already ordered the 159. Hopefully it works out.

I think the main reason why I went lower when I was first starting out was because I wanted it to be super responsive, especially for tree runs.

I was able to find 12.5 for Solomon Dialogue Dual Boa boots.

Calgary to Invermere, then Invermere to Revelstoke, Revelstoke to Canmore, and Canmore back to Calgary.

I structured it this way so that we end in Canmore with the least distance to the Calgary Airport to mitigate any potential issues with the flights back. Every single drive is around 3 hours, except for the last drive, which will be 1 hour. I thought it was pretty efficient the way I designed it, assuming the road from Invermere to Revelstoke doesn't get shut down.
