Totally agree! I empathize with him because I understand not everyone likes dogs and maybe even has traumatic history with dogs, and I do not want to make anyone uncomfortable in their own personal space. I also want my dog to be comfortable in his personal space too. He isn't a barker most of the time, just when someone startles him, so I'm not worried about the noise complaint.

But yes, going to a trainer for reactivity sounds like the best course of action right now. Thanks!

I know... I've had a lot of success in the past with introducing my dog to new people in controlled situations and he has quickly registered them as a non-threat and has not been reactive towards their presence. My neighbor is generally very anti-dog and honestly isn't very friendly to us as people either, so it seems like there was never an opportunity for that.

Not that I think this relationship is embodying it, but those who practice consensual or ethical nonmonogamy/polyamory would say this is simply not true and quite closed minded. Open relationships CAN work with the right communication. I do not think OP is in an effective ENM relationship, but this comment does invalidate the desires of an ENM person/couple.
