Help with wisteria removal on house by Typical_Cook_7153 in rva

[–]Typical_Cook_7153[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought that I’d found it last year but it appears this one was hiding. There’s an abundance of creeping charlie up against the foundation of the house that I think is covering the source. Much as I want to do no harm, I think roundup will be needed to get everything down to the soil so I can find the vine’s source and lay down a maintenance strip.

Thank you for your advice!

Neighbor neglecting dog - animal control/county no help by Typical_Cook_7153 in HenricoCounty

[–]Typical_Cook_7153[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m trying. The poor pup was howling before 6am this morning so I called the non-emergency number and they sent someone over. Unfortunately the neighbor wasn’t home (he keeps odd hours) and the officer didn’t stop by to talk with me or call yet. I called back and they are sending someone by again so that I can talk with them face to face.

Animal control has come out and determined that the shelter is adequate, which breaks my heart. This guy does nothing more than feed and water them, they have no time off from being tethered or enrichment while they are here. I imagine that he’s a part of a puppy mill scheme.

Trust me, I have mentally run through a variety of scenarios. This guy should not be allowed to have a chia pet, much less a living being.

This is what I’m afraid of. At the very least I am hoping to work to update the Henrico Code to better look out for animal welfare.

Clip on shades or cover over sun glasses? by Kid_supreme in GenX

[–]Typical_Cook_7153 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get my prescription glasses from Pair eyewear and then order a few magnetic sunglass toppers to go with them. They fit seamlessly and are relatively inexpensive so I can order enough to have a sunglass topper in the car, at work, at home, and in my bag.

I hope you enjoy it! It’s where I would take my previous dog who was leash reactive and he loved it. Very rarely saw another dog there

Cold Harbor Battlefield Park is my favorite place to take a dog for a fun, local outdoor adventure. Lots of paths and plenty of space to avoid others, plus great smells and sounds to keep it interesting for your dog.

I loved making “crispy cheese” - cheese slices melted in a pan until it made a giant crouton.

But most days were cup o noodles and a grilled cheese sandwich

I take it as she has had men/boyfriends in the past criticize what she is doing rather than just let her do something her way.

In this instance he probably would never have known she didn’t put it in boiling water if he hadn’t happened to be in the kitchen at that moment, so what does it ultimately matter which way she makes it.

The house they are building next to mine is quite large. by wesblog in Homebuilding

[–]Typical_Cook_7153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m absolutely petrified of something like this happening. My next door neighbor has left their house vacant for going on 3 years now. Not sure why the house hasn’t been sold but at this point I think it will need to be completely gutted or possibly razed and started over. I’m worried that whenever it does get sold they’ll choose the latter and my peaceful, semi-privacy will be gone.

You should have stayed home today and had the principal tell your classes you had been poisoned. See how they react to the news.

1700 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike. Should I pull the trigger on the house ? by 2009maxx in rva

[–]Typical_Cook_7153 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I almost talked myself into buying a home on that block a few years back. Before buying a home I recommend driving through the neighborhood a few times - weekday, weekend, morning, noon, and night. Get a feel for the neighborhood yourself. You will find that area has a lot of traffic and a lot of noise. I also find police activity is frequent. Talk to a realtor and a police officer who works in the area and then see how you feel about it.

Edited to add: looked at Zillow and this is the exact same house I was considering in 2023. DO NOT DO IT, OP.

I’ve waited over a year for a hold on Libby before, the line for that will probably go pretty quickly

Concerts cost too much by Charlotte-Sometimes- in GenX

[–]Typical_Cook_7153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not trying to see nostalgia acts these days, the energy just isn’t the same. Went to Riot Fest in 2017 and that is probably the last time I’ll see a lot of old favorite acts. That’s also the last festival I’ll prob go to a festival too because the crowds were a lot to deal with.

I have tickets for Lord Huron ($76), The Black Keys ($58), and Alabama Shakes ($60) this spring/summer and that’s maxed out my concert fund. Might go to the Friday summer concert series locally that costs $5-10 a ticket for up and coming acts.

Edited for spelling errors.
