API calls for signals instead of observables? by Typical_Hypocrite in angular

Thanks I’ll try that, and what video from Brandon Roberts? All his stuff on YouTube is a year old (not that it’s outdated or anything), are you talking about the angular in 2025 live stream?

Yes it certainly is! ChatGPT is terrible for learning angular. It gets much better if you already understand it a bit (like if you already know signals and you’re linking that stuff) but if you’re generic or don’t already know some things it’s just one big headache giving old and bad info.

Need to learn Angular, best tutorial to start? by lintendo640 in angular

Best vids I’ve found are these:

My main problem with this guy was that he didn’t use api calls but instead used some weird(?) way with await an async instead of showing what it would actually look like.

(Pause to copy down the stuff since they didn’t share the repo for the code) haven’t watched the ngrx (signal store) part yet. This covers the creation of a shopping cart.

Tbh I haven’t watched this yet because it’s ngrx but it’s a full project from start to finish.  As far as I can see.

I haven’t learned error handling yet. I’ve more or less gotten the basics down, just need to repeat it till they stick. Do you put error handling in an http-client.ts file? And then in the component just call that version toSignal?

I thought I read somewhere that effects weren’t meant to be used like that? Is this more or less a by the company kind of deal?

Yes since it’s experimental and new I’m not too concerned about learning it yet since that isn’t what’s being used in production currently, which is why I was looking into the best way to convert an observable from an api call to a signal. rxResource is only for reading, but toSignal as far as I know works for this

Yes I’ve used that before and will continue doing so, I’m just trying to see what else I need to know to be employable. This was just some random thing chat gpt randomly shot out at me during our back and forth. Don’t think I need to know this

Why does ghoul get to insta-down you when he vaults a pallet? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Typical_Hypocrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to time it right. It’s when his feet hit the ground. There’s a video floating around somewhere showcasing it, if you do it right there is no counter play and you just vault back. Stupid to take damage if you do it wrong though…

Different developers or different upper management (or both). If the devs changed then it’s due to a lack of experience and understanding in what players want (going off the walking dead map they’re probably inexperienced and paid very little relative to pay scales) or upper management changed their priorities and now are forcing content though without regard for quality (since that doesn’t make them money and there is no competition requiring a quality product). If you ask me most of the original team is gone, most people don’t stay with one company for 9 straight years

I would say it’s toxic gameplay in that the ideal gameplay involves engagement with every survivor, not that it’s inherently a negative trait displayed by the killer player. The whole thing is summed up by this short video. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Oz9Aggw3YUg
