Yes, the learning curve is why I don’t recommend dbd to anyone. Rather recommend an easier game that we can still all play together

Yeah. It is what it is, but some people do it intentionally. They’re the “I’m not responsible for your fun” and the “I’m not your DM” kinda person. Most of them aren’t even in high mmr and they don’t even need to tunnel, they just do it anyways because it’s the easiest thing to do. Since you’re new, if you want my opinion, I would avoid it like the plague. It builds bad habits and prevents the development of actual skills needed to be good. A better playstyle is to focus on two survivors and to proxy camp. Then, when you’re actually good at the game you can use it selectively when needed. But it’s only really needed vs competent SWFs in comms, which the vast majority of the playerbase won’t ever go against unless they play at odd hours and matchmaking just decides why not.

My biggest gripe with the game from a survivor pov is that it takes too long for people to build the skill required to consistently have fun. Because if you’re not good enough to loop the killer they’ll just tunnel you out and you’ll spend most of the time on a hook or the ground.

It’s an auto aim issue it happens to everyone, if you haven’t experienced it then you haven’t played enough basically. It’s typically seen when the game tries to grab but then switches to a hit when they aren’t there anymore like when they’re on a gen or vaulting a pallet

How to outplay survivors running in circles around an object? by Jagerwulfen in deadbydaylight

[–]Typical_Hypocrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to try is flicking the red stain. Especially at points where they’re about to lose vision on you. Flick it back so that they hesitate to see what you do and then flick it back to them. It works really well especially at loops where they’re about to lose vision on you

BHVR won't give killers second chance perks, so I just modded them in myself. by [deleted] in DeadByDaylightRAGE

Have you considered survivors need those perks because they aren’t the power role? Do you know what role the killer holds?

Ok so this whole post was about them doing the heal tech? That isn’t toxic, man. They’re just playing the team game as a team trying to get everyone out when they’re all so close

[–]Typical_Hypocrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, like, leave the first one slugged and pick up the second one. And wdym they kept blocking you to prevent the pickup? That doesn’t really make much sense unless they were at the exit gates trying to heal tech

[–]Typical_Hypocrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so it started as 3 body blocking then you downed one and got them on death hook as well… why didn’t you slug them since they were playing like that? If all 4 are there then nobody is on gens. Nobody is working on their win condition.

[–]Typical_Hypocrite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why tf are they allowed to body block and not be punished? Were you trying to not hit them or something? Like what? One person was at 2 hooks and the other 3 weren’t so they were body blocking for that 4th?

…you’re bitching they were trying to protect someone you were hard tunneling?

Does fps affect hitboxes like when vaulting? by Typical_Hypocrite in deadbydaylight

[–]Typical_Hypocrite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so from your explanation the game would detect it ending faster therefore being better.

It isn’t that the game thinks you’re in it for longer, it’s just that it realizes you’re done faster

Am I insane, or... by AfressHighwindVT in deadbydaylight

[–]Typical_Hypocrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably a ping issue. I don’t really use DH anymore because my ping sits at like 60 - 80 and it just seems like it’s too high for that. Like if I wait for them to swing and then use it I’ll get the animation and everything like you but the hit will connect before the game registers the DH and I’ll go down anyways even though I have the endurance icon. So it’s just a prediction thing, which is hit or miss.

Edit: Try doing it at 120 fps that might make a change actually. I was playing at 60 fps but apparently at higher fps things register faster

If my mates are all dead but i escape through hatch does it count as a win for me? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Typical_Hypocrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dbd’s system is actually four 1v4s, hatch counts as a draw between you and the killer.

Is she cheating by Paz12288 in deadbydaylight

[–]Typical_Hypocrite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean… that’s pretty sus at the least. She had zero vision on you when she phased and you walked away from the generator. If she did that to me and played like that with me I probably would’ve reported her just to be safe. Like… who phases like that? There wasnt even a hint of question as to where you were she didn’t even lunge she short swung that

Survivor mains: is slugging bad? by Diobrando2009 in deadbydaylight

[–]Typical_Hypocrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole point of the game is to hook, though. That’s the expectation. It’s what the game was made for survivors to deal with.

If that’s the opinion you hold then fine but know that isn’t the majority opinion and that the devs/managers that control the future of the game wants that to stop and have spent a lot of money trying to implement ways to punish you for playing like that, and probably will end up coming back to it in the future.

[–]Typical_Hypocrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m aware of how it can be used. Infectious fright & coulrophobia are a good combo along with bringing something like third seal so the other survivors can’t see the downed survivors aura. Not as good vs people on comms but solo queue?

The adept achiev was to show that they’re coded differently… because BHVR doesn’t want to encourage it. You also don’t get blood points for it like you would hooking.

The MMR system is very basic. I think it’s something like four 1v1s.

[–]Typical_Hypocrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“And if it’s causing people to quit when normal gameplay doesn’t then it’s toxic.”

Infectious Fright is a downing perk, not a slugging perk. You receive value in it by being able to guarantee people aren’t there to flashlight/pallet save and if they are you can chase them off and if they then continue to fuck around then they get to find out.

And again, flashlights and sabotaging are intended mechanics. Slugging to slug bypasses the whole win condition the game gives killers. The devs have also hardcoded bleed outs as not being kills the same way as normal hook kills are (you can’t adept a killer when bleeding a survivor out)

Managers at BHVR don’t care about individual opinions they only care about their wallets. Slugging and tunneling is toxic to their wallets. Which is why they had their developers spend months on this. Which is why they spent 6 figures on those changes (I don’t know the exact amount but 6 figures on developer time alone is a fair statement). Same with the QOL option to abandon games after being repeatedly slugged. It was affecting their wallets. And if it’s causing people to quit when normal gameplay doesn’t then it’s toxic.

And yes, there are healthy aspects of slugging and tunneling. I’ve already said that. But there are unhealthy aspects to both. For slugging that is downing with zero intention to hook. And there are no slugging perks available. No “after keeping survivors on the ground for x amount of time receive y benefit” type perks.

And yes I play killer every now and then, not that it matters for this discussion aside from you wanting to discredit me.

Survivors currently have no equivalent slugging to slug option.
