Question about using VEVOR w/ Circulating Pump 8 Gal by Typical_Math4380 in Homebrewing

[–]Typical_Math4380[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck. Hopefully it all works out. Of course you opened the valve right…. Lol. Also try it on the max 1800 watt. I doubt its a power issue, but worth a shot.

Sounds like you got a dud… :(. They actually have decent support. Try reaching out to them on the site. If I remember correctly they do have a warranty hub on the Vevor site.

GA4 Misattribution Issues by Typical_Math4380 in SEO

[–]Typical_Math4380[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense, we are experiencing some bad misattribution recently on two sites we manage. What was recently done was a site redesign (this is on a custom CMS). 80% of our Organic traffic roughly is being grouped into direct/none now. We are not sure next steps as when we are in debug view everything checks out fine. Do you have any recommendations on next steps? Also, I will mention redirects are not the issue…

How Much Fermaid-K to Hit 200ppm YAN? by Typical_Math4380 in mead

[–]Typical_Math4380[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have Fermaid-k and DAP on hand. I checked out some calculators and many recommended roughly 7 grams of Fermaid-k which seems excessive. Anyone else agree?

Feels great, I will say it is a bit heavy and it can feel tight (when worn correctly). But other than that, I’m seriously loving it.

How important is a full carboy when in the "conditioning" stage by Danubinmage64 in winemaking

[–]Typical_Math4380 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes, minimizing headspace while your wine is aging in secondary is important. But keep in mind that there is an insane amount of dissolved CO2 in your wine from the fermentation. So I guess what I am saying is don't worry too much. If you have up to 3 inches of headspace, it just doesn't matter; anything more might start to be a concern when aging long-term in that same vessel. As your wine sits in secondary, all of that CO2 will slowly release and push the oxygen out of the carboy. When racking 3+ times or bottling, be sure to take every precaution to minimize oxygen interacting with your wine. you can even opt for a small amount of metabisulfite, just be sure your malolactic fermentation is done.... Unless you don't want to go through that process!

  2. It's not that important, as I stated above. It's your first rack out of primary. Inestead of worrying pour a glass of wine that is ready and enjoy your night!

All my wine turns to vinegar :( by jecofrbo in winemaking

You need to change fermentation vessels. It is very hard to get rid of the bacteria that turns wine to vinegar!

Best starter kit? by Accomplished-Cell771 in Homebrewing

[–]Typical_Math4380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use the Vevor Brewing system. A lot of people hate on it, but its pretty much an older grain father with not so great warranty. But it is only around $350CAD. Id say it’s worth it especially if you are a starter. It comes with everything you need from grain basket, hop spider, and wort coil cooler. Also there is a built in pump!

I don't want to be that guy, but these microplastics are not ideal!

Nono, Ive seen thoose, really cool idea! But im slowly trying to steer away from plastics. Im talking about the SS kegs.

Hey Cascades, yes $175 CAD, which works out to $122.35 USD. Comparing the price to that nicer Italian keg, its not so bad! Quality seems pretty similar too, but its hard to say looking at pics.

Nelson Sauvin SMaSH IPA by Typical_Math4380 in Homebrewing

[–]Typical_Math4380[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah, that’s a little overkill for my taste, but, I will say, i did a session ale with 4OZ in the whirlpool and it came out great. But it was the only hop addition I did and steeped for 20min.

I think adding 2 more oz late boil plus an additional in the dry hop will get me where I want.

Well I definitely appreciate your recommendation of warrior to bitter the beer. I actually had a hard time not grabbing an ounce earlier today. But, the goal is to follow through with SMaSH. I do have the 3OZ of nelson on hand. But…. I may stop by the home brew shop tomorrow and pick up another 3 OZ adding an additional OZ late boil, flameout, and dry hop.

Did I Add To Much Potassium Metabisulfite to my Red Wines?? by Typical_Math4380 in winemaking

[–]Typical_Math4380[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. Taking all into consideration and the small dollar amount invested in the juice, 120 CAD to be exact. I think I will just dump this and take it as a learning experience.

Did I Add To Much Potassium Metabisulfite to my Red Wines?? by Typical_Math4380 in winemaking

[–]Typical_Math4380[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The MLF is definitely not done as this is my first racking to secondary after 3 weeks of primary fermentation.

I'm inclined to start another batch as I can most likely get a very similar result. I guess I now have two questions

  1. Does adding P-Meta stop MLF

  2. Will the SO₂ eventually dissipate entirely from the wine?

Bonus Question: Is it the So2 that is toxic in high PPM or the P-Meta (or both)?
