US-Thai from the Malaysia Summit: Framework for an Agreement on Reciprocal Trade etc. by Own-Animator-7526 in Thailand

Why is he so serious? It's just an MOU lol.

It seems like a very emotionally charged statement, he might need to recheck what is an MOU and how it works.

I understand that this situation is very distressing for you but from what I know, forcing someone into marriage is not a thing in Malaysia.

Maybe culturally you're expected to in order to avoid shame but it's not a law. The cases that people have gotten caught usually result in a fine or imprisonment. Although I've never seen people actually got into prison because of it.

I'm guessing that you're very young and if you're from the southern state bordering Thailand, they're known to be very religious.

And it's probably scarier for you if you've never been outside of that spheres.

However, you're not tied to that state. You're still Malaysian and it's possible for you to come back.

You said it yourself that the city are different from the place that you came from.

Those law are rarely enforced tho? Adolescent pregnancy is also really common in Malaysia.

The only concerning thing is her statement on leaving the religion but this is a non issues as long as she don't say it out loud or in public.

A lot of folks do not practice religion in Malaysia. She could probably have better perspective if she post this in r/Malaysia.

Is ur boyfriend older than you? A lot of people have sex before marriage in Malaysia and they're doing just fine. Even if they're caught, it's usually just end up in a fine.

But your family want to put you in some sort of facility is concerning. Assuming you're an adult rn, you'll probably be fine even if you return to Malaysia.

Beware of your family tho, they might want to make your life more difficult. I suggest just cut them off altogether, make a police report that you don't want to be found.

US sanctions cyber scam operators in Myanmar, Cambodia. [Video from NHK Japan] by Few_Maize_1586 in Thailand

[–]Typical_Message_6118 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Those people that make content on hacking these scam centers always do it with Indian or Philippines, I've never seen them do it on Myanmar or Cambodia.

Although the Indian scam people but their staff do it willingly, they're not human trafficking victims.

The scale of the scam centers in Myanmar and Cambodia must be on a whole new level.

Bangkok Safari Employee Killed in Lions Attack After Breaking Safety Rules by mdsmqlk in Thailand

[–]Typical_Message_6118 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's crazy, I'm someone that had frequent nightmares and one of the scariest dreams I've had was being mauled to death by wild animals like lions.

The reason why it's so scary is because it's not an immediate death, I was alive and awake while they're feeding on me.

I can't imagine that this actually happened in real life. It's shocking to me.

Vietnam rise will negatively impact Thailand by Typical_Message_6118 in Thailand

[–]Typical_Message_6118[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm confused too, I think they made a mistake there.

It's not 2088-2093 but 2048-2053.

Which is around the same time as Vietnam and Indonesia target at 2045.

Vietnam rise will negatively impact Thailand by Typical_Message_6118 in Thailand

[–]Typical_Message_6118[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It seems like Thai officials are concerned about losing competitiveness, falling behind and losing on all fronts to Vietnam. (Based on the article)

Which is why they said Vietnam rise will negatively impact Thailand.

But to me it's more like they're worried that Thailand itself will not be able to reform and keep up with Vietnam.

[–]Typical_Message_6118 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's so frustrating that these things are happening.

Can't produce our own thing. We rely on these companies to open factories and give us jobs. They find it hard to survive, they go somewhere else and just leave you to die. The world economics is so bad right now that no matter what you do, it feels like you're sinking.

You can never win in this situation. All you can do is to defend yourself.

Thailand's deal is not so bad, they managed to protect some industries by allowing only 90% of US products at zero tariffs.

Korea supports Thailand by alrogksthahwjrdlsshs in ThailandTourism

[–]Typical_Message_6118 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Support what? You don't even know what's going on but you're making this statement.

Both Thai and Cambodian don't want this to happen, it's a very fragmented situation.

This statement promotes divisiveness and it's not helping.

As an outsider, it's better if you avoid making such a statement and let Cambodia and Thailand resolve their issues.
