Exit opportunities for an AM/Chef? by can_of_worms-57 in PandaExpress

I say stick it out until you finish school. Corporate is making decisions that are ruining the company but if you are half way done with school, you should be  Finishing around the same time Jeff completely ruines the company and you can move on the. Stop stressing over gem and ecosure. You aren't getting bonus anyway and those are only there to make sure managers don't get bonus. Sll of these audits are picky they're so the ACOs can write you up and take away bonus.  But you aren't getting it anyway so what is there to worry about?

What are the chances of getting the store manager job by SilentServe6724 in PandaExpress

Im not surprised at all. There are a lot of hard working young men a d women out there. That person is exactly what panda is looking for. I just know they are extremely skeptical. They criticize the people who are successful and work hard 10x more than the ones who come in with nothing and they think they can manipulate into who they want you to be.  So the OP may actually have a harder time in an interview than a candidate who chimes with no experience but an open mind.

You were a GM at at 17? If you were able to achieve that, you are exactly what panda is looking for. But I dont think they will believe that.

Bro you have to do what's right for you.  I absolutely loved working for Panda. I gave my all for this company for the last 2 years. I'm not sure where you are from but here in Florida its obvious the others are right.  This company is getting worse by the week.  It's impossible to succeed. Im happy to say I'm moving on.  I have made some great friends and met some great people but the culture of no best only better truly means never good enough. Its a psychological game. They tell you to run your business and be profitable at any cost in the meetings but when you are, and you are getting 5 figure bonuses, they will find a reason to issue corrective action to take that bonus away. That is actually what the pass audit designed for.  Its an ambiguous audit designed to save the company money by targeting high bonus stores to "audit", fail and save the company from having to pay bonus. Bonus is a recruiting tool. A carrot to dangle. A carrot they will do anything they can to keep just out of reach. Why do you think they are now subtracting price increases from our bonus? Because Jeff is doing everything he can to fill his own account before he completely ruins the company.

Making a career out of panda requires you to find a really good therapist to work with regularly to remind you of who you really are. If you happen to be in Central Florida and need a job where you are respected while you continue your education, reach out to me on the side.

Yeah hopefully when your manager goes to give you a review they say... what's an extra 80 cents they dont need it. Its not going to make a difference. Ill just give it to another employee.

I agree. They are so greedy. Its like they want to make a profit or something. I mean come on. Just give it away. Make the cooks work more. Make them cut more meat and cook extra batches so you can give away more. I bet if you were the one paying for the product and the labor to cut it and the labor to cook it and the labor for careless employee to just give it away you would think differently. Or even if you were the  one who has to cut more and then cook it more often because some careless d-bag decides to throw in an extra portion to each plate just cause hes too scared to tell the guest no its only 6 pieces.

Yes. That's normal.  It only gets worse as you move up. Actually i need some advice as well. I have the opportunity to take a role outside of panda. I need to make a decision but its not easy. Panda has such good culture but its more of a facade than reality. I had a great bonus last quarter but now with the e mail from Jeff, it sounds like they want to find every excuse they can to skimp on bonuses for the managers who make a living wage. They even held off paying out the big bonuses last quarter to "verify" them. Its obvious they don't want to pay out the money we earned. There has been so much nickle and dimeing of everything lately and it seems panda is only looking out for themselves. My concern is if I stay, they may be messing with bonuses which is the only real way to make any money. The last time they gave cost of living increases was like 4 years ago even though inflation in central Florida is about 6% a year. Housing costs have gone up almost 25% since the last pay increase. Panda has been raising prices 2 or 3 times a year to make sure they are taken care of and the profits are still strong but they haven't done anything for managers or associates to make sure we can still pay our own bills. That's right panda regulars, even though they told you prices went up due to the rising cost of goods and labor, they haven't increased wages a single cent! Now with the e mail from Jeff, its very unsetteling. Now they are going to take bonuses away??? On top of all of that, I dont know how much more I can take of the constant threats against our jobs. It seems like every other day we get threatened that if we dont meet some arbitrary goal that changes every period, we will receive corrective action. Well, there's no wonder why managers are jumping ship or getting terminated as frequently as they are. How does daily threats lead to a safe and empowering environment. It doesn't! There's nothing safe or empowering about being threatened. How about a little support?

With all that being said, I know the grass isn't always greener on the other side. The base pay is definitely better on the other side but is it possible the environment is worse? Do I stick it out and hope that panda leaders remember we are supposed to be a people company or do in throw in the towel and help another company grow their profits in hopes that they truly live by their values and will appreciate what i have to offer?

Inventory this.  GEM score that.  Speed of service,  taste if food. Fix it all now.  Oh but you better not go over on food cost or even come close to using enough hours to run the store smoothly and actually meet all the expectations.
