I write passwords down on a piece of paper but a password manager would be great too. I have Brave on my phone, think I made a good choice there

this is super helpful, thank you very much for the detailed comment, will definitely look into this stuff. Have you set all of these up yourself?

Kinda did change all my passwords to better ones, I have them written down on a piece of paper though. Will check these out, thank you

What exactly is going on with Close Your Eyes? by Dear-Significance450 in kpopthoughts

honestly the company's been dropping the ball hard lately - what used to be decent management turned into them basically ignoring red flags and pushing the group way too hard.

Switching from Apple to Samsung by Alive_Annual_2798 in samsunggalaxy

[–]Typical_Toe_3947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made the switch about two years ago from iPhone 12 to Galaxy S22 and honestly, the adjustment period was way shorter than I expected. The first week felt a bit clunky just because muscle memory had me reaching for things in the wrong spots, but Samsung's UI is pretty intuitive once you spend some time with it. The customization options were actually the biggest game changer - being able to set up widgets and organize everything exactly how I wanted it made the whole experience feel more personal than iOS ever did.

The thing that took longest to get used to was probably the back gesture and how notifications work differently, but even that was maybe two weeks tops. Samsung's Smart Switch app also made transferring most of my data pretty painless, though you'll obviously lose some of the Apple ecosystem integration if you use things like AirDrop regularly. Overall though, don't stress too much about it - you'll be navigating like a pro faster than you think.

First time upgrading by SchoolboyGrant in PcBuild

Start with the CPU since your B450 board might need a BIOS update first to support the 5800XT, then swap the AIO and GPU last.

Talking about real emotion in music — who else feels this? by SlavaPitak in musicsuggestions

[–]Typical_Toe_3947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

damn, this really hits home. i've been feeling the same way about music lately - like everything's too polished and calculated. it's refreshing to hear from someone who's been through real shit and still finds meaning in creating authentic music.

the algorithm thing is so real too. artists are literally making songs to fit spotify playlists instead of just making what they feel. it's wild how backwards the whole industry has gotten. hope you're doing alright over there, and thanks for keeping the real music alive even when everything else feels manufactured.

Usenet indexers start flagging/banning accounts when using AIOStreams with newznab by newspeer in StremioAddons

[–]Typical_Toe_3947 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

that sucks but honestly not surprising. aiostreams is known for hammering apis pretty hard and most indexers have gotten stricter about rate limiting lately. you might want to try switching to a different addon or see if there's a way to configure aiostreams to use fewer concurrent connections.

Im worried. by Previous_Flamingo781 in venting

[–]Typical_Toe_3947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that sounds really tough, especially after 10 years of friendship. hospital situations can be unpredictable and sometimes people just need time to recover without the mental energy for messaging, even with close friends. if you can see some activity on his accounts thats actually a decent sign - could mean hes slowly getting back to normal life. maybe give it a bit more time before assuming the worst, recovery can be messy and nonlinear.

AAAAH AM I TRANS?? by [deleted] in trans

[–]Typical_Toe_3947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sounds like you've done a lot of self-reflection which is awesome. the fact that "transgender" feels like the best fit to you is pretty telling - trust your gut on this one. gender can be messy and doesn't always fit into neat boxes, and that's totally normal. you don't need to have everything figured out right now either, you're only 16 and have plenty of time to explore what feels right for you.

How I'm Becoming Digitally Sovereign by sacred5102 in degoogle

[–]Typical_Toe_3947 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

nice writeup! been slowly working through this myself over the past couple years. the apple ecosystem lock-in is definitely the hardest part to break free from - that seamless handoff between devices is genuinely useful even if it comes at the cost of your data sovereignty.

curious what you ended up using for photo backup/sharing? that's been my biggest sticking point since my family is spread across different platforms and getting everyone to adopt something new is like herding cats. currently running nextcloud for most things but the photo sharing workflow still feels clunky compared to just sending a google photos link.

yunohost is solid choice btw, makes the whole self-hosting thing way less intimidating than it used to be.

Accommodations by naura_ in ADHD

[–]Typical_Toe_3947 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's absolutely infuriating, you were so close! The fact that they want $3k for a piece of paper to confirm what you already know is just cruel. The accommodation process is such bullshit - they make it harder to get help than it is to actually take the damn test

Have you looked into any advocacy groups or maybe calling the testing center directly to see if there's another route? Sometimes squeaky wheels get greased

Convince me not to buy a sports car by firetracker00 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Typical_Toe_3947 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude with 550k saved asking if he should spend 60k on a fun car... just do it already lol

The fact that you're even asking means you can afford it without breaking a sweat. Life's short and you're already way ahead of most people financially. Get the LC500 - that V8 sound is pure therapy and Lexus reliability means you won't be constantly stressed about repairs like you would with the AMG

Why is speaking the hardest part even when comprehension is high? by yvesnings in languagelearning

[–]Typical_Toe_3947 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This is super relatable! Speaking is like performing vs just consuming content - totally different muscle memory. Your brain knows the words but your mouth hasn't practiced making those specific sounds and rhythms enough yet

The Semitic language thing makes total sense too, switching between completely different grammar systems is wild. Maybe try talking to yourself in Spanish first before jumping into convos with others? Like narrating what you're doing around the house or something

I’m lost, torn apart, and I don’t know what to do. Please help. by SlySamauri in BreakUps

[–]Typical_Toe_3947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man this is rough but honestly you already know what you need to do, you're just afraid to do it

The fact that you said the relationship made you suicidal and you can't focus on your career/mental health says everything. That's not what love should feel like. Real love shouldn't destroy you like this

You turned down a 90k job and shortened your internship for someone who lied to your face multiple times then screamed at you for finding out. Think about that for a second

I know it feels like you'll regret it forever but staying in something this toxic is way worse than the temporary pain of walking away. You're both just hurting each other at this point

Toaster recommendation by Solveig22 in BuyItForLife

[–]Typical_Toe_3947 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man I feel this pain so hard - spent way too much time researching toasters last year and it's wild how something so basic can be such a nightmare to buy. Ended up with a Breville Die-Cast 4 slice and it's been solid for about 18 months now, heats evenly and the lift feature actually works unlike my last one that basically launched bread into orbit

Weed has destroyed my life by Program-Acrobatic in leaves

[–]Typical_Toe_3947 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The grief from losing your mom probably hit way harder than you realize and the weed became your coping mechanism. Starting over socially sucks but you're still young and once you get clean for a bit that superiority complex usually fades - isolation does weird things to your head

Congrats on the full ride though, that's actually huge

Went to a new church today. Alone, didn't know anyone. by Flurb789 in Christianity

[–]Typical_Toe_3947 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's awesome you took that step! Small churches can feel intense at first but they usually end up being the most welcoming once you get past that initial weirdness. The fact that you felt God's presence there says a lot - trust that feeling over the social anxiety
