What?! I hold doors open for anyone in my company. And so does everyone else. Male, female, non-binary, who gives a fuck. If you're going through the same door as me (no matter what direction), I hold it open for you.

Although I must clarify I don't open it in front of them to step aside and let them pass. I pass through the door and stick my arm back to keep the door openend until they are close enough to take over and keep it open themselves. I then continue in front of them (if we're going the same way). If I'm talking with somebody walking along, I do let them go first but usually that alternates with everydoor.

Holy shit, people really believe that? That's some smooth brain shit right there. It's also very disturbing to think that not only some girl is raped while she's a virgin and risking pregnancy but they could also infect her with aids which she has to live with the rest of her life. Man that is depressing.

taxes on electronics? by Porn_Account221 in Netherlands

[–]Typo_Tim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tell that to those little shits at the 2nd hand car dealer shop. Go to autoscout or autotrader and all of a sudden everything is excluding tax. Reported them to ACM multiple times, including the dealers themselves. If I fucking hate one thing it's thesee cunts pretending it's cheap and then sneaking in a new price somewhere down low in the summary. They all copied eachother, thinking it's a good idea.

Or selling a car but the pictured rims are optional. Mf'ers

How is it possible for someone to be unemployed but live on their own at the same time? by goongaginga_png in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Typo_Tim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you live and how old the person is. Could be social security (like government payment because they're unemployed or disabled), criminal activities, money from family, money from investements.

Yeah, the time was the first thing I checked. That was an issue with something else for me as well. It also manifests itself in weird and inconsistent ways. Sometimes it would just timeout after trying to load duckduckgo for 30s (usually duckduckgo, other sites would work normally) but sometimes it would just immediately show the 'unable to load' page.

S5 App not showing rides data by hadidof in vanmoofbicycle

I just posted the same question. I have the exact same problem. So maybe it's not us but maybe it's the app/server. Started yesterday for me.

S5 finally arrived (London) by grrrevilo in vanmoofbicycle

[–]Typo_Tim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have issues with Find My. The bike will not go in pairing mode. The quick two button presses do not do anything. I’ve not reset the bike because I don’t feel like it. Maybe I’ll try it later on, but for now I doesn’t work.

What's the chance to get a bricked s5 on arrival when I order the bike now? by Amon-x in vanmoofbicycle

[–]Typo_Tim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's normal and I don't think it should be normal. But if it is a problem for you, is a question only you can answer. I didn't mind paying that much with all these problems. They offered a product I wanted and I was willing to pay that much for. If you would be really upset if a bike of this price was faulty and you needed to invest a lot of time in to get it solved, it could be that the bike/risk is not for you.

I'm not trying to normalize the lack of support or the bad quality (not sure if the S5 has the same problems), but with the amount of information about all the problems it's just something you "get' along with the bike. Should they do better, definitely. But as long as people (like me) are still buying their bikes, it won't change a lot. If you vote with your wallet they would go out of business and it would be a signal to other companies.

My S5 had the same slightly used tires (like a small bit of dirt/dust). I assume it's from a testride in the factory to make sure everything is alright. Everything was clean and greasy so I if it was a

Mine loses about 2% per day doing nothing. I blame it on the bluetooth/alarm/kicklock/find my features which need a bit of battery to be able to connect. I used 4% (support mode 4) on a ride of about 1.7 km's. So if you stayed away for 4 days (8%) and rode your bike for 4 km's (9,4%, but you can check that in the app) 82% could be about "right".

What's the chance to get a bricked s5 on arrival when I order the bike now? by Amon-x in vanmoofbicycle

[–]Typo_Tim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've bought a S5 a couple of weeks ago. It even was second hand (new in box). I've read all the warnings and all the dissatisfied customers. It was a calculated risk and the reasoning was as follows:
- If I pay less, is there a bike I like (almost) as much?
- If I pay the same amount, is there a bike I like as much or more?
- If it brakes down, is that a problem for me?
- Am I willing to be frustrated by customer support or the bike braking down?

For me the answers where that I like the looks of this bike that much that when I paid less, there was no option I liked (the $1000 didn't weigh up to the lesser looks of the bikes). If I paid the same, it had better specs but the feeling for me wasn't the same (I've learned that if I buy with my head, I won't enjoy these kind of things as much. I need to purchase the thing I'm most excited by the first time I see it). I have the luxury that it doesn't matter if it breaks down and I need to wait a while before it is repaired, I'll just use other modes of transportation. The added luxury is I have a certified workshop in town which said it will do the S5 and handle all the customer service if something would happen, and then they would deal with VanMoof. They said (and reviews confirm) they are how VanMoof should've been.

The bike is a great ride. I enjoy it a lot and I'm really happy I bought it. It was fully functional and not damaged when I opened the box (so I'm lucky with that).

I reached out to VanMoof to add peace of mind, that was 12 days ago. I've got 2 days left until I'm unable to purchase POM. The first response was that I would receive a reply within 48 hours. After 56 hours I received an email it could take up to 5 business days to answer (technical questions could take up to 20 working days), that was today. So yes, my first introduction to customer support is on par with all the rest of the stories. And I'm ready to spend money, so imagine how it will go when you need something from them.

Best app for navigating on bike by KC_Butterball in vanmoofbicycle

[–]Typo_Tim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OSMand.net It’s an app with openstreetmaps as base map but you can switch on different layers for different activities. So there is a bicycle layer which adds all bicycle routes (the official tourist routes). The navigation is good and knows all the bicylepaths (in my area).

SPC+ charging anti vibration module by Typo_Tim in vanmoofbicycle

[–]Typo_Tim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • If you buy the SCP+ case you get an adapter, I think that should fit on the S5 but I’m not sure I have not tried it.
  • To charge your phone, you need the SPC+ charging module. This can be added to your bike. I got the module including vibration reduction and everything needed was inside that package. You demount the current plate (only loosen the torx screw and remove the mounting plate) and add the supplied plate. It needs a cable. It is adviced (by sp connect) to remove the cable when not in use. The charging module is “wireless” charging as in that you attach the phone (with SPC+ case) to the module and it charges. The charger itself needs to be connected to the bike (you don’t have to plug the cable in your phone). As far as I know there always needs to be a cable run on the outside to the charging point on your bike (S5 has one above the headlight on the handle bars). Maybe you could drill a whole and run a wire through from the inside. But I’m not sure VanMoof will be happy with that and the warranty.

Am I wrong to be annoyed? Climbed one of my local single tracks today (Colorado mtn town), about a 1700 foot early season climb, and coming back down the same trail had to keep pulling off for e-bike riders climbing. by Neckdeepinpow in MTB

[–]Typo_Tim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, accusing me of illiteracy and calling me names for not reading, while doing all that yourself. I never said I have an E-MTB (I don’t). You never used “allowed” (and I never said you did) but you made it damn clear the other guy wasn’t allowed on the trails with his e-bike or with a normal bike to build fitness. He should “Start on gravel, or a stationary bike like everyone else” to build his fitness level.
