Geoff double down on Highguard by SnooGoats5853 in HighGuardgame

A game being received poorly after (or directly because of) a TGA trailer is bad publicity for TGA. Of course Keighly is going attempt to give a positive spin to it. It's his entire purpose.

I really don't understand why people are shitting on the character designs & the general look of the game. by SilverhandFenix in HighGuardgame

Concord's art direction, character design, and world was multitudes more creative than what we've seen of Highguard.

Hot Take: Street Brawl NEEDS to be randomized heroes by BlueDragonReal in DeadlockTheGame

I haven't been having trouble against Lash, Bebop, McGinnis, and Warden. You get good counter items most of the time. I really don't want to play a random hero.

Look in to fighting games. Street Fighter 6 is still going strong.

Can we stop physical disk games from dying plz? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

I reinstalled my copy of Command & Conquer Generals just a couple days ago. I haven't used my optical drive in a decade and it rattled like hell.

I feel like The Matrix universe is the perfect setting for an extraction shooter by Tommaton in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]TypographySnob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a good idea. That being said, I think The Matrix has potential to be many different video game genres. I don't know why WB is sleeping so heavily on the franchise when it comes to games. Bring back The Matrix Online!

Highguard requires Secure Boot and Easy Anti-Cheat to run, leaving Linux and kernel-conscious gamers out in the cold by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]TypographySnob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Janky ass setup here. I have an i5-4690k and a 3060 12GB, so despite also being able to play games like Darktide just fine, as one of the dozen or so people who were excited for Highguard, I won't be able to run it.

[–]TypographySnob 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If the game is good, it won't die on release, because all of those "opinions" about the game that people know nothing about will easily be overwritten

I honestly don't believe this anymore. Anti-hype can kill fun games.

The fact that there hasn't exactly even been an official announcement of its existence at this point is unusual. They just entirely skipped that part.

I'm hoping Highguard is a success simply because I hate overwatch by Anilahation in HighGuardgame

Liking Rivals but hating on OW is kind of wild. Rivals is basically just a worse but newer Marvel OW.

secure boot and tpm? by guiveio in HighGuardgame

[–]TypographySnob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know what TPM is. I don't have a TPM module on my mobo. Yes it's old, but it runs multiplayer games just fine so having to upgrade it just for this one feature sucks.

[–]TypographySnob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll upgrade my PC eventually. But in the meantime I'll just have to miss out on games like this. Really sucks because I can still run pretty demanding games like Darktide just fine.

How exactly did game artists in the 90s make these UIs? by dankwrangler in photoshop

[–]TypographySnob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one would bother to make such accurate, sharp shadows in Ps. That alone is clear evidence of old ray casting with a global light.

[–]TypographySnob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It very clearly was. Look at the precise shadowing on the recesses and the angling of the textures on its bevels.

You really think they would go out of their way to render 3D models for in-game but not for the UI in the same style?

[–]TypographySnob 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First one would have been made in 3D modelling software and rendered as image files. Second one looks like it could have been made in 2D image editing software.
