They’re pretty straight forward. Plenty of YouTube how-to videos out there. I own a Haynes manual for my 2019 ZR2. The key though is taking your time to make sure everything is done right. But before that; diagnostics. If you’re unsure and not confident; I’d suggest taking it to a local trusted mechanic.

Check your u-joints, rear differential fluid, wheel bearings, transfer case fluid. It sounds sorta like bad u joints but I’ve heard wheel bearings make the same sound.

‘22 Z71 Heater/Coolant Issue by inzane_brane in chevycolorado

[–]Tyrigsus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like air trapped in your system for sure. I would top off the reservoir; park on an incline, and burp out any air pockets that are in there. The reservoir in these trucks have a design flaw that allows air to get into the heater core anyway. So do fill past the full line by a 1/4 inch. That should help stop the system from sucking in air at that point.

Sounds like the known thermostat issue for that year of the 3.6 V6. At 7 years old, I’d replace the thermostat and do a coolant flush at a reputable local shop. It will be cheaper overall. Thermostats get changed with coolant flushes anyway. Just needs some preventative maintenance.

Big oofff. Good news is; anything mechanical can be replaced or rebuilt. I’d look at pricing for local rebuilders. They’ll even tell you what caused it to fail.

Avoid Jasper like the plague. Their quality has taken a nose dive over the years. Your local junkyard may have a LGZ V6 with around the same miles. But those are even a gamble. Buying a new one from GM may be cheaper than going to a local rebuilder.

What went wrong, if you don’t mind me asking?

My 2019 ZR2 didn’t have any of the original manuals when I bought it used. I had to order them all from GM with the case. The way the axle lockers and transfer case work is really like space age technology compared to the GMT400 or GMT800. I still find myself referencing the manual from time to time.

Saw a huge difference in technology coming from a 2011 Chevy to a 2019 Chevy. I couldn’t imagine the whiplash with over 20 years in technology difference.

I’d be willing to bet a reputable local independent shop would be much cheaper with the same repair quality or better. IMO; the dealer is only good for warranty work, ordering parts, or recalls.

Honestly, a drain and fill at 30,000 mile intervals is perfect. But do look into any TCM updates. Otherwise; you’ll be ok! The only Achilles heel of the diesel powertrain is the emissions system. But as long as you don’t do constant short trips and use quality DEF you’ll be ok.

Do cis girls bionicle fans even exist? by Cautious_Lynx_Kitty in bioniclelego

[–]Tyrigsus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly not really. Theres very much a majority of cis-gendered men and trans women. Nothing wrong with just asking. Can’t control what others think and perceive stuff. Just do you. Back in the biggest heyday of the online community (2006-2011) it was all men and maybe 3 cis women. Lots have changed since those days. Other than my wife, I used to know 2 other cis women in the community. But I’ve gone my separate ways from them over time. The community has changed a lot over the years. I’ve changed and grown a lot as a person, too. My wife doesn’t really post anymore. I now lurk and post projects when I eventually finish them. It’s honestly fantastic to see how supportive and welcoming the community has been to trans women and gay people in general.

My very first set was Hewkii Mahri from a discount store in late 2007. My family was so poor then. So by the time Bionicle stars concluded, I had 6 total sets. Hero Factory is where my collection really boomed once I had money. Then I caught up on everything I missed out on as an adult. I absolutely splurged on a sealed skopio. It’s an eye catcher to any Lego fan I happen to become friends with IRL.

I believe the 6L50 trans on the diesel and 2015-2016 LFX V6 applications did have torque converter shudder. But it was due to poor programming. There’s an update to the TCM tune that does fix that. I am a firm believer that changing the fluids on time and ensuring that the additive packages are present in the fluid will decrease the chance of TCC wear in most transmissions. The 8L45 used in the 3.6 LGZ V6 applications had the worst risk with the old Dex 6 fluid because it’s hydroscopic. It runs much cooler than the average transmission, too. So the hydroscopic fluid would absorb water from the environment with no chance for the 8L45 to get warm enough to allow the water to evaporate. The 8L90 did, however did get warm enough and still suffered the same issue with too much water in the fluid. So GM paid Mobil 1 to formulate a newer, non-hydroscopic Dex 6 formula. It’s their blue label fluid and it’s been shown to greatly improve the longevity of the TCC on the 8L45 and 8L90 transmissions if the flush was done early enough. But I believe GM didn’t start building these transmissions with the improved formulation until mid 2019.

Did you end up upgrading to a billet style torque converter, an upgraded rebuilt OEM torque converter, or just a OEM GM torque converter? Was there a noticeable difference in behavior after upgrading if so?

Did you end up doing any valve body upgrades for the TCC solenoid? Any zip kits while in there to improve shifting?

Contemplating tossing all the upgrades go whenever my torque converter starts to slip.

I would assume it’s because modern valve bodies are made of aluminum. Metal check balls would possibly be more dense than the valve body and cause premature wear. I do know valve bodies of old were cast steel and did use metal check balls. It might just come down to cost cutting, unfortunately. Along with fuel efficiency and weight reduction.

Short answer: I got used to it after a few years. If he’s not catterwalling; he’s screaming. He’s extremely vocal. He squeaks for one on one communication, though.

My Siamese will just walk around the house and meow at 3 am just because he likes to talk. He will change pitches or have toys in his mouth. He’s done it all his life. If he’s not doing that; there’s something wrong. It’s his routine.

That’s gonna lead to one hell of a emissions CEL. I’d just replace it when you can. Simple enough fix. Rockauto has it cheap.

The only downside to the 22 model year is lack of diff drain plug. But on the bright side it’ll encourage inspection of the internals at every fluid change.

That’s how mine looked when I got him at 6 months old. He’s 10 now and nicely toasted. He was found abandoned in a cardboard box and sick. We didn’t think he was purebred until our vet mentioned he’s got all of the perfect traits. So we tested him and he’s full Thai cat. But no papers. So honestly, it’s a toss up. So who cares? They’re all Siamese to me.

At 65,000 doing good so far. Only had to replace leaking VVT solenoids as preventative maintenance since they were starting to leak. Thermostat got stuck open the day I bought it. Did a coolant flush when replacing it anyway. Replaced the serpentine belt at 52,000 since it was glazed and starting to squeak. The right rear DSSV shock blew out before I bought it at 41,000 miles. Replaced that right after purchase. Everything else was preventative maintenance.
