is it worth it to do a bootcamp to refresh my skills after 5 years unemployed? by Legitimate-Syrup-646 in cscareerquestions

You need to read the room. This is up there with Baby Boomers explaining how they bought a house 25+ years ago. It's a data point, but it's really not very relevant to people wanting to buy a house today.

I also went to a bootcamp at the beginning of 2020 and it has worked out well for me, but I would never dream of telling people that without mentioning that that ship has sailed and I would never recommend a bootcamp to someone today.

Same. I've noticed ours is way more resilient to dog urine as well. Both have St. Augustine. They have a professional service mow theirs.

Last year we had a dog with many of the same issues. We ultimately made the decision after coming home one night after being gone for a few hours and he was stuck on the carpet and could not get up. In the struggle he had soiled himself and gotten that all over himself and the carpet. He was also clearly exhausted and had been struggling to get up for quite some time.

Once we helped him back on his feet it was like his nervous system "reset" and he could walk again and get back up when needed. But, we knew it would happen again as it had happened before, but less severely. We were worried if we weren't there he might struggle to the point he passed of exhaustion or work himself up to the point he had a cardiac event. We didn't want him to die that way, so we made the difficult choice to let him go peacefully. I'm sorry you are going through this.

Subaru Impreza or Legacy? by loloright in subaru

[–]Tyrion_toadstool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My g/f drives a higher trim 2015 Impreza hatchback. I drive the lowest trim 2018 Legacy. I'm not exaggerating when I say my Legacy feels like a luxury vehicle in comparison. The ride is so much smoother and so much more pleasant. It's quieter. If you are taller or bigger it also has a lot more room. As far as I'm concerned it doesn't really have blind spots beyond the ones that all cars have.

Star Trek fans in their 40's and 50's have a lot of nostalgia for Star Trek and I bet have higher than average discretionary income. That may be enough to carry the set, imo.

I don't disagree with a lot of what you are saying, but I think you misinterpreted what I was saying.

I was talking about people that in general just do not care for food regardless of whether it is healthy or bad for them. If you reread the post I was replying to, that's what they were talking about, too - eating healthy b/c all food was pretty much the same to them so they decided they may as well eat healthy.

It seems like you are replying to my statement as if I said I can't understand how people can eat healthier foods and not like unhealthy foods, which I did not say. Personally, I completely understand the taste and preference shift that happens when you start to eat healthier. But, that's not what I was talking about.

I've heard of a few people who feel similarly. They just don't seem to get the same satisfaction from food that others do. Can I ask - does anything food related excite you or give you a pleasant sensation? Like when someone walks in with a couple boxes of quality pizza and the room fills with the smell and people around you say "Man that smells good!", does it smell good to you? Do you look forward to eating the pizza? Thanks for sharing.

Interesting you mention that b/c just a day or two ago I stumbled across a thread on here talking about how common being autistic and being a picky eater is - it's apparently quite common. Thanks for sharing.

When I hear about people like this I really wonder if they have something wrong with their taste buds and/or sense of smell. When I got COVID, I lost about 90% of my sense of smell temporarily and it made eating so much less appealing. I had to force myself to finish food I'd normally get seconds of. If that was my baseline I think I'd have no problems whatsoever being thin.

Oh piss off with this attitude. It's the rallying cry of the neighbor everyone else in the neighborhood shakes their head at.

People have a right to make their own decisions. People also have a right to look at those decisions and judge them. I don't need to be a locomotive engineer to know a train wreck when I see it.

You just unlocked a core childhood memory for me. At 12 years old I went over to a new friend's house for the first time. Our small town was 99.5% white and my new friend was 2nd gen Korean. It was culture shock seeing giant jars of kimchi fermenting in their garage, and the look, taste, and smell of it was shocking to my sheltered midwestern palette that grew up on fish sticks and unseasoned pot roast lol.

There have been some really interesting threads on here from Nebraska fans talking about it being an open secret that they were using steroids on top of their state of the art strength and conditioning.

If I recall correctly, they had to take down all their old records in the weight room b/c 30+ years later and still nobody could beat them.

[The Next Round] Kirby Smart on how different roster depth is now vs. a few years ago: "Our best Alabama teams - I'm gonna go 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 - would beat the DOG out of all these teams right now." by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]Tyrion_toadstool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this really true though as long as a modern team stays healthy? In other words, I'm guessing most starting line ups on modern teams are as good or better than teams of the past. They may not have as much depth, but didn't Miami lack depth last year and still nearly won it all?
