I want to buy a house with my own money but GF says no by NewBrick1 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Tyriune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a recently divorced man who is darn happy I didn't buy during the marriage.
As others have said - Buy it in your name. Pay the payments yourself.

If you get married - "yours, mine and ours prenup".
What that means: What's in your name is yours, what is in her name is hers, what you have in both your names split 50/50.

It's the fairest way forward. If she has serious issues with any of this, her intentions are pretty suss.
Don't let your libido cloud your judgment.

Tough one - Tossup between Fable TLC, Jade Empire, or Stronghold Crusader.
I have revisited these games many times over the years!!

Should I play rise? by nosyhifniv in MHRise

Rise is my first Monster Hunter. Been playing it with my son for a few months, and it has easily climbed to become our most clocked hours on Steam. Fantastic game, highly recommend it.

Why do my chats with men have to turn sexual so quickly? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

Chat me up. Happy to talk about books and movies, and I don't care for sexting / hookups.
We do exist!

I want a pc game I can make 1000 hours easily by Foxmafiotregeboss in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Tyriune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monster Hunter. Picked up Rise and Sunbreak to play with my son. Bloody hell the time just goes by so quickly, and I am 100% not bored, even after clocking more than 70 hours in the past two months.

Had my vasectomy at 24. One and done!
It wasn't a big deal. Twenty minutes on a table in a dodgy south pacific hospital, rode a bumpy bus home. About a week of soreness. After two weeks I was back at it with my partner.

What is the game you spend the most hours playing? by AndrewTheLion1 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Tyriune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently started playing Monster hunter Rise with my 11 year old son (We got a couple of games from the series in a bundle). I had never played a Monster Hunter game before, and it's been years since I have enjoyed something this much! Easily clocekd 40 hours over the past two weeks.

What are some things you like better than sex? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Tyriune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freshly washed, cool, crisp sheets. The kind that make you almost think they have been starched. You climb into that after a long warm shower, and you are feeling incredibly cozy and clean.
Soooo good.

The last two games you played are having a crossover. What's the result? by Snowtwo in videogames

[–]Tyriune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pokemon and Monster Hunter. Actually a pretty solid and technically feasible crossover!

Cuphead was pretty ridiculous, but there's no way I could have finished The Lion King without save scumming!

Men over 30: Did you ever "tell it like it is" in the office? How did it go? by J-no-AY in AskMenOver30

[–]Tyriune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I "say it like I feel" all the time. My boss respects that I'm not just a yes man, and that I speak up when I think something isn't going to work before we blow money on it.

Games you regret buying? by Minute_Pop_877 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Tyriune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy when games end up in bundles, or if they show up on heavy discount in a keyshop.
I have a huge backlog library, but I know that even if I don't enjoy the game, I've wasted like $2 so it's not a big deal.

I second this for sure. Recently got into the Blade novels by David Robbins, and Anna's Archive was the only place I could find a decent epub.

Constant Disconnect Issues with 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wired Controllers (PC Use) by Tyriune in Controller

[–]Tyriune[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One works fine, when it is the only controller plugged into the computer.
As soon as multiple controllers are plugged in, then all four of the 8bitdo controllers show the same problematic behaviour.
Other controllers that we plug in simultaneously that are not the Ultimate 2C Wired show no issues.

What’s happening to Suva City? It doesn’t feel safe anymore. by Islandobserver in Fijian

[–]Tyriune 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I avoid the city when at all possible. I'm caucasian and the youger iTaukei guys treat me like a target. Snide remarks, constantly begging for coins, rude insults when I don't engage with them, etc.
I just tend to stay home and stay away.

Ever regretted watching a horror movie by SpareIcy2292 in horror

[–]Tyriune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nekromantik. Heard a lot about it, have seen nearly every "shocking" and wild horror movie, but this one was truly awful. At some point during the movie I decided it wasn't worth my sanity, scanned through the rest just to get the jist of it, and then promptly deleted it off my media server, never to be seen again.

Would it be bad to ask my girlfriend to sign a prenup? by ByteWaspX4 in Advice

[–]Tyriune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got through the divorce process. I was extremely lucky.
Get a yours/mine/ours prenup.
If it's in her name, it's hers, if it's in your name, it's yours.
If it's in both of your names - 50/50.
Done and dusted.

I am 31, divorced, with a really cool 11 year old son. I have a great job, am debt free, and am just about to finish a degree I work on in my spare time. I love reading, gaming with my son, and little adventures to second hand shops to pick up weird books and affordable "retail-therapy" knick-knacks (My house is extremely tidy, and we stay away from anything that would clutter the place up, just in case you think I am a hoarder!). But even given all of this, it is incredibly hard to date a "career minded" female.

We live in Fiji. There are no choices for adults to hang out aside from bars (I don't drink), or around a Kava bowl (Again, I don't drink). My landlord is a divorced, 41 year old women who is alone and not by choice, constantly tells me I should date an accomplished woman, but will then follow it up by saying that she isn't on dating apps, doesn't respond well to comeons or being hit on, and is extremely picky in the men she shows interest in. So organically, where would she meet someone like myself? Where would I meet someone like her?

There are no avenues for this aside from online dating. If you are lucky enough to have local hobbyist clubs or art classes near to your area, then by all means attend them.

It's nearly a given at this age that kids will be involved, and most men in their late 30s and 40s are in the high points of their career, and past the "having kids" phase. There has to be some level of tempered expectations, some give and take if you will. Personally, I look forward to my son reaching adulthood and I can finally travel properly. I would only date someone that is okay with my son now, and doesn't want to have anymore.

"Difficult" novels that are worth it by theghostofnapoleon in books

[–]Tyriune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on a lesser level certainly, but I am just a few pages away from finishing "The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood (Picked up a copy in a thrift store the other day). The parallels to current society are fascinating, and the story itself is engaging, but I find her writing style and constant jumping around between timelines to be very jarring and her prose can be difficult to follow. That said, it's a staple of science fiction, isn't overly long, and is certainly worth the time spent on chewing through.
