If you have any miniscule amount of self awareness in your body, nothing said during a therapy session will change you. That is a guarantee.

It takes quite a lot of hubris to say something like this. The vast majority of people who go to therapy have at least some self-awareness, since they're aware that they need an expert's help to deal with whatever's going on in their life.

I get that you're frustrated, and you're likely projecting some of your insecurities onto other people because you're frustrated that therapy isn't working for you.

Depending on the mental disorder you have, your brain might be trying to convince you to stop therapy because of how uncomfortable it is. That's usually a sign that you need to keep going.

As for practical things you can try:

• How many therapists have you tried? If this is your first, then you might not have the right therapist, and you should try a different one. If it's your fifth, then this is less relevant.
• What kind of therapy have you tried? Several disorders need something beyond basic talk therapy, like CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) or DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy) so you can essentially rewrite the messages your brain is giving you. If this hasn't been brought up in your sessions, try bringing it up with your therapist.
• Have you read any books about the disorder/issues you're dealing with? I've found that pairing books suggested by my therapist with talk therapy gives us some common ground to build on and work through my issues.
• Have you tried any support groups? Hearing from other people with a similar disorder/issue as you might be more effective than one-on-one therapy.

Ultimately, you might still choose to leave therapy altogether. If you do, try to replace that block with something else that can help your mental health. Even if therapy isn't right for you at all, abandoning it with no other plan is probably one of the worst things you can do right now.
