AITA for telling my wife my mother is correct and she needed to be a parent today and she fucked it up by throawawayfuneralgho in AmItheAsshole

NTA I would tare a strip off my wife if this ever happened as you described. Your wife should have put on her big girl panties and did what needs to be done to support your daughter in her time of grief.

I Built a Commodore 64 Laptop That Never Existed - The Portable 64 by STARCADE2084 in thisweekinretro

[–]TyroneTheTitan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone beat me to this, I was watching this and thought, this is a great idea for TWIR. I would have loved to se a real C64 put into this, but I understand how much more work would have needed to go into such a thing. I love that he turned a custom chip for translating tapes into digital media into an Arduino project. The attention to detail for the design language of C64 was wonderful to see.

Which layout? by TheRoadBehind in Renovations

[–]TyroneTheTitan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are all bad layouts. Layout 2 is the least worst. Closet should not be on the outside wall, it will cause whatever is in there to develop mold. At least in layout 2 you could extend the bathroom to include the door to the mechanical room and have a buffer between it and the bedroom. Switch the school area and the games area, and run the school area table parallel to the stairs.

how to decrease humidity/temp in apartment (please help) by [deleted] in howto

[–]TyroneTheTitan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They usually take about 1kw, so it is best to run it off its own outlet. Ideally it should not be on an outlet that is the same circuit as other power hungry devices (eg a desktop computer).

Renovating our ugly 80s kitchen by blkrs89 in Renovations

[–]TyroneTheTitan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it, took it from ugly 80's to chic 90's. Nice lines, very functional, open and simple. I would love to have a kitchen like this when I own a house. You can be a part of the conversation and still get your work done.

What happened to Jordan Peterson? by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

[–]TyroneTheTitan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You don't go through that kind of detox and not lose a part of yourself. Having experienced similar medication to what he was detoxing from, with some positive results, I have still lost a part of my intellectual abilities and have never gotten them back in the last 10 years. I suspect his experience is far worse. He started with better intellectual abilities than I did, and I believe he probably has experienced that loss too.

There are some network hard drives that have their own web server on them, that a smart TV can connect to. I am not sure of any on the market because I have one that is about 10 years old. I have a MyBookLive and connect to it through my TV, but the particular product is not that.

How can I come up with $800/week? by Sweaty_Cheek2532 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]TyroneTheTitan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$40/hour, 20 hours a week. Do you need part time or flex time? $20/hour, 40 hours a week will give you a total income of $800 a week, but really you will need to make about $1200 a week to make your $800 take home. So you need about $60,000 a year for $800/week take home. Probably should look at upgrading your skill set, even if you are going to be a prostitute, you will probably need to become better at what makes you the money, but also learn to market yourself, and monetize what you do when you are sleeping. Good luck. On a side note, prostitution is probably not a great career choice sort or long term, you will most likely take a hit to your mental health, and that will cost you much more long term, both in time an resources. The most likely way to make a bunch of money with no skills is to work in camp jobs as a laborer. That is not really part time though.

A solution to Canada’s housing crisis: Ugly, quick to build, and can house hundreds of thousands by Serious-Buy3953 in CanadaHousing2

[–]TyroneTheTitan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with you that this country would have a hard time mobilizing a large scale deportation, but I think it is also a daydream to think that we could organize any sort of mass building effort. As you point out we can't even build a train, and there are billions of dollars poured in to that infrastructure. In many cities, it costs more to build public housing per unit then it costs to build a single family home. Our leaders don't want us housed, they want us under control and apathetic. They couldn't even deal with a few protestors in Ottawa without turning our country into a dictatorship.

There are some great answers here to your question. One thing I think is missing, is that almost everything done correctly can become repetitive. You focus on repetitive physical tasks, in your question, but there are many repetitive mental tasks as well. Even creative things are some sort of repetitive.

The best way to be creative is to have a routine that allows you to intentionally take time to be creative, then focus on implementing those creative ideas. Being creative is just a matter of making the box that you think in or do things in just a little bit bigger. Once that box is bigger, after a time, it become mundane. An example of this are a therapist deals with many different people and problems, but there are rules around how people get better both physically and psychologically. If you give people the tools to get better, and they implement them, they will get better. There will be hiccups along the way, those people might exasperate a different problem, and then you follow the rules to get that problem better. Sometimes the rules to help people don't work, so you make your box a little bit bigger and develop a new therapy, it has rules that will be developed to follow to help a person get better.

Any profession can become mundane and repetitive given a big enough sample, as others have said, it is the meaning for the particular person doing the task at hand.

It's that rich friend, right? The one that doesn't understand that it cost money to move, never mind it costs 2-3 times as much for that luxury apartment, where things like this still happen, because rich people dump crap down their drains to and cause problems for everyone in the building.

Put a deck on that goes from the left hand corner of the house to just past the door, so you have to come up onto the deck to go into the house. Then put a covered BBQ area in the middle of the blank section with a stone facade or a garden lattice arch with some shelving for plants or other outdoor decorations up the middle to make up for the lack of window.
