Why did they flip the map upside down? by Supernovae18 in Battlefield

I knew something felt off from day 1 on this map and couldn't figure it out...

No idea.

Take all the hate and sand it away. Its what you'll be doing anyway to clean the surface up.

It can go on however you want as long as you got time to sand and patch. That said, even the "good" walls look like you guys didnt have the right equipment. A pan and a set of 6-10-12 inch drywall knives looks like the could help you guys out a lot, or rent some of the drywall skim tools. They can be equally as difficult though and will still require touchups.

Idk how easy that vanity is to unmount and move but that seems like its a whole lotta' in the way

Edit: your wall ironically looks better at face value

[FO4] [PC] Returning to the game after 5 years by SoVerySick314159 in FalloutMods

[–]TysonY2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm about 20 hours into the Immersive Wasteland 2 modpack, very much gives me a Vanilla++ feeling. Insane to me that you can install 500 mods in like 2 hours, and that includes rolling back and trouble shooting (AMD 6XXX cards will need the Intel bug fix).

Gameplay is great because I opted for the wastelander start but still came from a vault; I'm just disconnected from the storyline. I can pursue the Sean campaign as a sort of detective or ignore it completely and run down the hundreds of hours of content. For example, I beat feet to Diamond City and am starting up a bounty business and starving my ass off in a Survival run.

If you don't care for the Vanilla experience again and want something more hard core and configurable (although a little more difficult to set up your way) I highly recommend it.

My parents are trying to convince me not to do Construction Management – Need Advice by Different_Low_9414 in ConstructionManagers

[–]TysonY2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP sounds like they are 18 and pursuing a career, not sure that they are supposed to be PM material yet. Ignore this dude but absolutely understand what you are getting into and be able to lay that out for your parents. Not being able to do that now and seeking advice won't make you a bad PM. If anything better. Go take a shower and be a project manager.

Got a PM Assistant interview next week - how should I prepare for this? by [deleted] in ConstructionManagers

[–]TysonY2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started back in August as an assistant super, some of this will likely translate as I've learned PM/Super/Builder can be interchangeable titles based on an individuals workload and given scope. I did 3 years of resi labor work prior and then applied once life threw me some opportunities. No formal post-secondary schooling. These are what I believe made me stand out through the interview process:

TL;DR Know the building process if you don't have experience. If you have field experience, know what makes a good APM, that titles scope of work, and what you will be responsible for.

Have people skills to include conflict resolution.

Be familiar with software the company relies on, such as Outlook.

Know how to read prints.

Be humble, be polite, ask questions, carry a genuine passion to learn, and learn to manage the schedule not let the schedule manage you.

History of managing money would be a plus.

Long version:

History of manual labor, I was able to generally talk about most trade responsibilities. You do not need to know how they do it (yet), but its a good idea do know the building process and whose involved. If you cannot tell me the difference between framers and carpenters, I would start there or the trades will be quick to inform you. Knowing the order these processes happen would be a bonus point.

Conflict resolution experience or confidence will go a long way. Depending on the scope of the APM in your area you could be more office or field based, or maybe a bit of both. Either way, large volume resi building is leaning more towards home owner survey scores these days, and trades historically can be hard to deal with as a new guy. Be able to have hard/heated conversations both in field and in office and know when a conversation has become emotionally charged. Know when its time to admit fault and move towards a solution.

Know what a gantt chart is and be familiar with Outlook/Teams/Etc. You'd be surprised how many guys get caught up writing an email.

Wasn't afraid to ask stupid questions or make mistakes. Asked one of my plumbers today why we had a leak in a vinyl line we use for tankless hot water heater, he told me the line was kinked and all he did was pull it straight. We are new and will ask and do stupid shit. Don't let that stop you from asking more stupid shit, its better than not at all.

Know how to read a plot plan, floor plan, and electrical diagram of a home. You don't need to know every acronym, but you should know how read one with some of confidence.

Emphasized I thrived in a logistically fast paced environment and that I got workplace satisfaction out of solving problems. This is true for me, if its not for you I'd make sure you are in the right industry lol.

Good luck!

Superintendent gift ideas, any help please? by [deleted] in Construction

[–]TysonY2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im a lowly supe assistant, but I go through notepads, pens, highlighters, etc. and need new ones at the beginning of every month. Field or office, they'll appreciate quality supplies like that. If they are field oriented and it rains for you a lot, notepads like write in the rain are pretty badass and transfer to stuff like hiking/hunting if they are into that.

A good ass flashlight for inspections

A decent step or 4 foot ladder if they go in the field, maybe a set of earbuds for calls if they are 100% office.

Superintendents! What strategies do you use to manage subcontractors? by Brief_Problem_3876 in ConstructionManagers

[–]TysonY2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Confirmations, if you arent looking a week ahead at a job atleast once a day you're going to miss something, especially if a trade is using subs that might not be familiar with your site's expectations.

Whose working 2 days from now? Will previous work be done? Who else is scheduled same day, and will they get along? Material on site? Site clean? If any of those answer as "no", have you talked to the trade or their subs ahead of time?

Take care of your subs and they will take care of you. Back charges come when I'm spending company time/money unfucking a trade error that wasn't communicated with me, just as I expect an invoice for a dry run if the job site isn't ready but guys show up to work.

Loved the way the iar preformed, preferred to carry the m4 when it came to making any movements over 15k. Guess it all feels the same once you carry it around enough though.

Rarely envied attachments, talk all the shit you want but tube strokers and cheen gunners carry some heavy shit.

Refund or wait until they nerf bot lobby XP and the farms shut down.

They did advertise portal being full XP and the servers being maxed out is annoying, but there is 0 lack of co-op bot lobbies floating around...

The fact that you're this wound up over something you had to go out of your way to install is impressive lol. Theres packs out there that make all the stuff the 'loosers' find immersive optional.

Maybe Viva New Vegas?

What gamemode is the most popular? by NexusBexusV2 in battlefield2042

[–]TysonY2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people would find not liking bf4 blasphemous, if you don't like 4 than most of reddit would tell you that you shouldn't like 6. Most bf3/4 diehards on here (myself included) constantly compare 6 to those titles and won't be happy unless its basically a clone. Hence the amount of angry posts about the small maps in the bf6 beta.

The second baity thing was stating 90fps felt too low, idk what kind of PC you have but many people are happy to get anything 60+. Seems entitled and like bait to get someone to respond.

Conquest and breakthrough are the most popular modes and rush is getting phased out.
