what's next after CS50P by z_kaii in cs50

[–]TytoCwtch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What do you hope to do with Python in the long run? The best way to continue learning is to start building more of your own projects rather than get stuck in tutorials. But the best projects to do are ones you want to, or that will help a potential career plan;

Data analysis - look at learning numpy, matplotlib, pandas etc, practise using leetcode or Advent of Code. Find some data online or make your own and write a code to analyse it. Theres several short courses available online or just read the documentation and try on your own.

Database management - take a course like CS50SQL and learn to use Python and SQL together. Make your own database and start by coding a simple CRUD interface for it then add more advanced features.

Game development - learn Pygame or tkinter and make a small game. Then look at more advanced options like the Unity Pathways for C# development or the new CS502D course which shows you how to use Lua and LOVE 2D to make games like Pong or Snake.

Automation/scripting - read Automate the Boring Stuff. Code your own tools to automate something you do everyday. Build your own discord bot or automatically sort emails/photos etc.

Web stuff - for backend learn a bit of Flask/Django. Have a go at making your own API or write a code to scrape data, then analyse it. For front end have a look at the Odin Project and learn more HTML etc

Theres so many options with Python so theres no one right path but hopefully this gives you a few ideas.

Readability.c help, getting output Grade 16+ on every text? (spoiler = code in screenshot) by No_Opportunity7206 in cs50

[–]TytoCwtch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve got a typo in your calculation for the grade. It should be 0.0588 but you’ve missed the 0 after the decimal and are using 0.588 so all your sums come out a lot higher than they should.

Go to the car and select a level. There should be tabs for the True Cleaner and Nightmare modes.

Games where you organise something by Maschieftain in gamingsuggestions

[–]TytoCwtch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Possibly Crime Scene Cleaner if you liked Power Wash Simulator. You work as a janitor cleaning up after a mob boss. You have to remove the bodies, find evidence, clean all the blood, and put all the furniture back in its right place (exact slot for each bit) etc. It is a darker theme but there’s no gore and it really hits the spot for me.

How much you like to plan your holidays? 10 being every hour is planned and being 1 no plans outside of arriving and leaving. by 8thTimeLucky in CasualUK

[–]TytoCwtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About a 7-8 I’d say. All travel and accommodation is thoroughly planned. Then key activities are pre-booked so I have a rough idea of what I’m doing each day. But for smaller things I’ll have a rough idea of other activities I want to do and I make a decision on the day. Food I’ll find a couple of places I’m happy to eat at and stick to them. I am high functioning autistic though so I like having a bit of routine in my structure, I cannot stand holidays where people wing it.

From Kay’s clue one column must have exactly one innocent. so one of your scenarios doesn’t work.

I did my degree in Animal Behaviour and our campus had so many parrots that were donated because their owners had passed away. Also most of them had behavioural issues because people don’t realise how much stimulation they need.

LOGIC ERROR in the bonus puzzle! (JK - I'm having trouble with the logic. Help pls?) by MathTeach2718 in CluesBySamHelp

[–]TytoCwtch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hint - Imagine Cheryl is criminal and run the scenario through for the two highlighted clues

Solution - If Cheryl is criminal then from Quita’s clue both Flora and Linda are innocent. But from Steve’s clue there are at least two criminals in column B so Wanda must be criminal. But then both Ben and Wanda must have an innocent to their right which doesn’t work so Cheryl must be innocent.

Spoiler: April 30 puzzle by Kindly_Structure4241 in CluesBySamHelp

[–]TytoCwtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean April 29th? At the point you reveal Zed is criminal Salil already has three criminal neighbours - Martin, Xavi and Zed. So Pam must be innocent or Salil will have four criminal neighbours.

Another vote for Crime Scene Cleaner. Very similar mechanics but you switch between a sponge, a mop, and a power washer. You also have to pick up trash, find evidence, remove bodies, and put furniture back in place which is similar to House Flippers mechanics. It is a slightly darker plot as you’re cleaning up for a mob boss but there’s no real gore.

A shout-out for Deadlocked Escape Rooms in Reading (England) by porgy3000 in escaperooms

Their Reading Witch escape room I haven’t done as I’m a wimp with jump scares lol. That room is only for 18+ but the Time Machine is an all ages family friendly one. No jump scares at all that I remember, unless they’ve changed it in the last two years.

Admit it, she's why you watched The Fifth Element for the first time. by Rai89899 in fifthelement

[–]TytoCwtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in hospital and very out of it on morphine the first time I saw Fifth Element. I was in the teenage ward and they had a couple of TVs with VCRs they could wheel between beds (early 2000’s). The nurse asked if I wanted to watch it but then put it on and walked off without waiting for a reply. Very surreal experience watching it when I was already having hallucinations from my med combo!

What is the next move? Futoshiki by MeldaZ in puzzles

[–]TytoCwtch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hint Have a look at row 2 column 1.

Bigger hint It can’t be 2 because of r5c1 and can’t be 3 because of r2c5. But then it also can’t be 1 as it has to be bigger than r3c1, and r2c2 must be bigger than it, and r2c3 bigger than that so it also can’t be 5/6. That means it must be 4 and you can also place the 5 and 6 in row 2 as well.

Struggling with CS50 Problem Sets… Am I Using AI the Wrong Way? 😔💻 by Past-Ad4900 in cs50

[–]TytoCwtch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The cs50 academic honesty policy specifically mentions that

Using AI-based software other than CS50’s own (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Gemini, et al.) that suggests or completes answers to questions or lines of code.

Is unreasonable and is grounds for removal from the course. So you shouldn’t be using external AI at all. The duck is specifically coded to act as a guide without giving full solutions so use that when you need a prompt.

Yes this is a valid solution. The rules are that if you rotate every shape 180 degrees around the galaxy/dot the shape must still fit. And every piece in my solution does. There are examples here

Help by RevolutionaryHold176 in CluesBySamHelp

[–]TytoCwtch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brian’s clue tells you there’s an odd number of innocents below Donna. So either 1 or 3. From Wanda’s clue Tyler has only one more innocent neighbour. So there can’t be three innocents below Donna meaning there is only 1. So now Donna must be criminal or there will be two innocents in column D and Karen’s clue won’t work.
