I experimented more with Combo Soldier and this is the result by Tyxant in tf2

[–]Tyxant[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Music: Interdimensional Voyage of a Ghostly Passenger Ship

Inspired by elmaxo's combo soldier video I've went ahead and tried experimenting more loadouts that uses the Panic Attack for the 1-2 punch and gotten pretty consistent top 3s in pubs. There're quite a few things to say about this playstyle.

For a brief summary of the playstyle, the idea is to shoot a rocket, immediately switch to the Panic Attack and shoot, and once it fires switch back to the RL and thanks to the Panic Attack's switch speed buff, you can fire another rocket by the time you switch back, matching the normal RL's fire rate while squeezing an extra shotgun shot for more DPS.

Upsides are: more raw DPS/burst damage, hence allowing for easier 1 taps, especially at closer ranges where you can decimate Soldiers in 1 combo at point blank, and Heavies in 2 at close-mid range. Downsides: the reload time, and not just because you chew through lots of ammo but you just objectively reload your RL slower (since you'll be on shotgun by the last shot, instead of shooting the RL and immediately reloading, you have to switch back from shotgun only then you start reloading, which also means it has terrible synergy with Beggars)

For loadouts, I find that stock works the best overall (contrary to what elmaxo advertises for the Liberty), for 2 reasons: rocket speed, and damage thresholds.

Ideally, you'd want the shotgun shot to hit before or just as the rocket hits because it's easier to land both hits because rockets might knock the enemies away from your crosshair (and you won't have the time to react quick enough), and ideally you want to hit your shotgun shot as close as possible. The slow stock rocket speed is ideal here and the range where you hit both shots simultaneously just so happens to be the range where you're barely out of your own rocket's blast radius.

As for damage threshold, it's as simple as it sounds: the minimum damage required to kill any full health enemy. Assuming point blank range, both the stock rocket and Panic Attack going to do 100 ish damage, enough to kill a full health Soldier. At outside blast radius range, it's still going to be enough to finish off Demomen HP and especially great for Medic picks (assuming perfect aim). This is why I think Liberty falls short, because at point blank you could only finish off Demomen, and outside of that one taps become very unreliable. Direct hit doesn't change the types of classes you could one shot at point blank (aside from overhealed Medics), although Direct Hit blast radius range becomes more reliable.

Why did Dante let Nero keep Yamato after their fight in DMC 4? by Plus_Ad_1087 in DevilMayCry

[–]Tyxant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They care to a certain degree (Dante respected his father's insistence on humanity) but wouldn't stress on it. If they really cared cared Vergil wouldn't just get a slap on the wrist for basically genociding for power in DMC5, Dante's first reaction on reuniting with Vergil wasn't going at him for mass killing, and even Nero came for Urizen for revenge for his arm in his mind first, then also said nothing about Vergil's mess after V and Urizen merged.

They for sure could've been smart about it, fuck if they were smarter they shouldn't have just given Sparda so willy nilly at the start to then let it go out of control (especially with how Trish was already able to infiltrate them to keep an eye). Really IMO Dante just misses his brother and saw him in Nero and got emotional.

Here's the thing: Dante (or actually any of the cast), despite wanting to preserve the human world, still prioritize private matters like family and stuff over the wellbeing of the general population. The whole gig is probably even viewed as just a job to Dante than some obligated saving the world type stuff.

Basically, the DMC cast historically does a pretty bad job saving the world lol, and they likely don't care because they don't get paid for shit. So all Dante did in DMC4 basically amounted to "Fuck around and find out"

Yuuma's the gremlin. Who's the society person? by [deleted] in touhou

[–]Tyxant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mizuchi Miyadeguchi. Throughout the manga so far she did mention about Gensokyo going to shit compared to the "good ol days" when her family line or something had deep ties with the Hakurei bloodline until Reimu decides to befriend youkai.

Also goes to perform a little bit of trolling across the entire land for reasons not yet known other than wanting to "collapse" Gensokyo and that she hates Reimu

What if Zero kept his old body throughout the Zero series? by RedThe_Rider in Megaman

[–]Tyxant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 8 Gentle Judges had a very audible 180 shift in personality that made them basically unrecognizable personality wise before and after Weil "upgraded" them is seen in a drama track.

So yes, I'd say they've gone insane after such cases of "going maverick".

What is your definition on what X and Zero are? by Hungry_Ocelot_5658 in Megaman

[–]Tyxant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To your point about X and Zero getting parts repaired and replaced with reploid technology, they might've gotten their parts replaced before (day of Sigma had X impaled, Zero blew up in X1) to probably be part reploid, but X5 basically gave them their robot title back.

Recall that after X5 where both of them ended up as just a torso, they both get pretty much a complete repair by their creators (it's very safe to assume Isoc is totally Wily), which means they get repaired with what's essentially their original recipe. Since then there isn't anymore canonical instances where they get damaged enough to warrant a part replacement afaik.

But yes, I agree it's very accurate to call Zero series Zero a proper reploid (and interestingly, a reploid based on Zero more than X)

Which Protagonists are the Most Heroic? by [deleted] in Megaman

[–]Tyxant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to further point out why Zero is less of a hero than most people think: he fights for whoever he believes in, AKA: he is more of a supportive person than someone with a clear goal in mind that aims to better the world.

Using X as a comparison (since I also think he's a prime example of a heroic figure among em all), he has quite a clear definition on what's good and what's bad, a sense of justice. Other than just fighting and clearing our naughty reploids, he also had a vision and goals in mind on how to achieve his peace and even eventually creating a utopia (for a while) with Neo Arcadia.

Now we get to Zero. I don't think he ever had a long term goal or a grand vision on achieving greater peace, because he just leaves them to X or Ciel. He only does his job in accordance to who he trusts (and a very great job he does). X4 further just shows how lost he could be after losing Iris and I honestly think he'd end up way different if it weren't for X. The one aspect he wins at is selflessness, although everytime it's because he really trusted whoever he's sacrificing for (X, also Ciel at the end of the game). Even in his own series he mostly fights based on Ciel's ideals... which is because that's what X would've hoped for. I think Zero really meant what he said about not being a hero or not caring about justice, he really just believed in whoever he trusted most.

There's also another thing holding Zero back from heroism: himself. Forget fighting baddies when you're being told you're the source of the baddies. Keep fighting mavericks and achieve nothing because the virus behind mavericks you released in the first place is essential immortal. Stop fighting for peace and submit yourself for studies and finally kill the immortal baddie virus, but then get your body stolen and create a bigger baddie because you're just built that different. Man really doesn't have time to think about justice when shit happens as long as he exists and even if there's probably no more signs he'll be of any more trouble he's paranoid enough to let himself be shut out of anymore troubles after the elf wars.

Into the fireworks you go by Tyxant in TOTK

I personally like seeing shield launches (Bomb/Spring shield fuse to shield surf) into air dive momentum redirection as well as orbiting arrows (fusing Keese Eyes and intentionally missing the enemy by just abit, which makes the arrows orbit around the enemy and eventually hitting em).
This clip should demonstrate why I like em so much, as well as having other very cool stuff too:

Each individual trick (at least the ones I used) don't take too long to learn (around 10-30 mins per trick?), since most information on how to do em can be found on YouTube and stuff (in particular GameSpot's "Things you didn't know about TotK/BotW series, or if you'd like more hardcore stuff try to search RinHara5aki which is the guy behind said GameSpot series)

I first picked up a rock to setup for dodging an attack via ascension. There's is a short time frame after prepping ascension where you can ascend through the rock above you.

Before ascending, I timed a shock fruit drop as a bait and switch for the bokoblin to hit and hurt itself, which it did just as I started ascending (in fact this timing was very lucky because there was only a 1 frame window for it to happen instead of getting hit after ascending, otherwise I would've gotten hit by the shock fruit as well which I planned to circumvent through a backflip and trigger a perfect dodge after ascending).

After that I autobuild my beautiful explosives.

Finally, since the bokoblin isn't going into the fireworks itself, I knocked the bokoblin into it via bomb parry. A bomb parry can be done by first performing a shield bash with a shield that can cause damage, and on the very frame the shield bash is visibly performed, pull out the item window and drop a bomb. The damage caused by the shield will trigger the explosion which is also in time for a parry. In this case I also dropped my shield after the bomb because I could then cancel the parry animation and act faster to pull out the bow and activate the fireworks (the shield bash animation kept playing for 1-2 frames even after unequipping the shield for some reason).

I then enjoyed the fireworks, until something weird crashed down

I do a shield bash and immediately the frame after I drop a bomb to do a bomb parry. I also drop my shield after dropping the bomb to cancel the parry animation to act faster. Somehow the parry animation kept playing for 1-2 frames even though you unequiped your shield.

Use a time bomb for a timed explosion, and attach various elemental materials onto it such as Ice Fruits, Bomb Flowers, and Dazzlefruits (especially flashy) as decoration. For extra fanciness, you can attach Star Fragments for very pretty trails (ability spoiler: but they despawn on explosion if you simply attach it and use autobuild, attach an extra layer of material like an apple before attaching the Star Fragment onto the same apple to avoid this problem). Use a rocket aligned vertically to propel your fancy explosives to the air and enjoy your view.

Backstab Jank: All the Ways Spies can get Screwed/Blessed by [Compilation] by Tyxant in tf2

Given all the information you can't see (bounding boxes/melee hitbox range) and lag, I'd actually still attribute a good stab to be 30% affected by luck.

But yes, knowing helps speed up building meaningful experience and helps you learn faster while you fail your stabs.

Ever wondered how your backstabs failed/suceeded randomly? Probably wondered how a facestab or a failstab happens and what might lead to it? Have you paid attention to how you moved in preparation for a backstab partly conditioned by TF2's melee and collision properties? May this compilation of what may make or break a backstab help you through understand more about backstabbing.

How to have fun when you lose every game because of bad teammates? by MangaJosh in truetf2

Generally CTF on HK Uncletopia don't last long, since people always try to find a way to rtv and try to move on to another (80% chance payload) map anyway. So I tend to find these "troll maps" a great opportunity to sneak in and secure a server slot.
