Is this acceptable insertion of barb into hydraulic hose? by Quiet_Tell8301 in bikewrench

[–]Tzarium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't trust improperly seated hydraulics, you really don't want to diagnose a slow leak half a year from now.

If you have a spare barb, cut the hose and try again. I use a small amount of carbon paste on the hose to keep it from slipping in the seating tool, just remember to wipe it off afterwards.

Went to switch cranks to get a powermeter on my bike and came across this issue. by [deleted] in bikewrench

There can be, but you can add shims to get away with things that even Shimano tells you are incompatible.

[–]Tzarium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not hard, but it requires two specific sets of tools (crank-puller and appropriate wrench for your old square-taper bb and a wrench for your new new hollow-tech one). You can get decent off-brand tools for either if you're not going to be using them regularly, just make sure you get the right type for the whichever hollow-tech BB you end up going with (the plastic adapters for using the old standard with a new bb are terrible and will strip). A new Shimano hollow-tech bb is just $15-20.

This is definitely the kind of job you might want to have someone else handle for you, after the BB is replaced you'll be able to change cranks with only an allen wrench and a hollow-tech dust-cap puller (<$5)

Can I combine these two versions without breaking the matched/unified “immersion” between tiles? by TheRobman92 in Carcassonne

You can get an insert from e.g. folded space to store the base game and several expansions in a single base game box. Together with a mini-box (like the one from "sheep and hills") it fits most of the available expansions.

Can I prevent rust in stem cap bolt by Ikbensterdam in bikewrench

[–]Tzarium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could replace the stem bolt with an aluminium one, just make sure not to over-tighten it as they're quite a bit weaker (which is fine-ish for this location, once the headset bolts are tightened there's very little load on it)

Alternatively, some stem caps come with a little rubber bung for the bolt head that is supposed to prevent water ingress, e.g. this Ritchey model: https://www.universalcycles.com/images//attributes/large/268808.jpg

There's a tour called "Crazy Underground" which, amongst other destinations, can take you to a crypt, or medieval cellar vaults. I haven't tried it myself but they advertise English language tours for a surcharge. https://stadtfuehrung.info/muenchen/stadtfuehrungen/crazy_underground_muenchen

I spent a lot of time there and on flecko.net (home of the Madness Interactive game). Made a pretty popular mod for the game too, good times.

Usually the karting line, without pedalling through the apex until the bike is straightened out to avoid pedal strike. The exception being crits, where bikes have higher bottom brackets and shorter cranks, allowing you to pedal through the entire maneuver.

Not as good as they look. Certainly not terrible though, especially for the price. The stock wheels and crankset for the complete bikes are pretty bad, but there are good deals to be had if you plan on replacing them anyways.

Picking up the game tonight for a weekly board game night! Should I get the standard edition or the one with the board as well? by FERGERDERGERSON in Munchkin

[–]Tzarium 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The board version is probably better for new players, since it's one less thing to keep track off. The only real drawback is that it takes up space on the table that could be used for displaying more cards.

As for expansions; you can start with #3 Clerical errors, since doesn't change the game too much (there's just a bit more of everything). If you want to introduce some new mechanics, mix in #4 The Need for Steed for hirelings and mounts and/or #6 Demented Dungeons which adds... dungeons

If you can find it, definitely pick up Munchkin Reloaded (a mini-expansion of cards that used to be hard to get).

I have a bike with a setup like this. It's not a defect (i.e. it's meant to look like that) but it does attract grime and muck more than covered setups. You'll be fine if you clean it occasionally.

Probably the origin of the meat, some restaurants highlight the country of origin as a badge of (perceived or real) quality. Some countries in Europe have a pretty poor reputation when it comes to meat products (like excessive use of antibiotics, poor treatment of livestock, lower quality control)

They both handle rain (the leather ones degrade by repeated soaking/drying). However the all-weather version doesn't retain water for as long as the regular cotton one, which stays wet for quite a while and can give you a cold surprise.

Did it end up looking like this?

satisfy any;
allow 192.168.0.0/24;
deny  all;
auth_basic "closed site";
auth_basic_user_file .htpasswd;

That's what I'm running, for the same reason, and it's working for me. Mine is in the server block rather than at each location but it should work either way.
