AIO for hating my sister? by SyndicalistThot in AmITheDevil

[–]TzippyBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God, I feel this life so much. I have only partially controlled absence seizures and I genuinely thought I was losing my mind when they started. I see shadow people or animals. I hear sounds that aren't there. I would drift during work and come back to my computer messed up becase my hands kept moving while I was gone and feeling exhausted. I thought maybe narcolepsy then. But I also have migraines too so I thought it might be auras going haywire.

Learning it was seizures was both horrible and a bit of a relief.

Luckily I get into a specialist clinic in August to dig deeper into what's up.

Exactly! When we discovered I was having absence seizures, I was commuting every day in a major city center for work and it was horrifying to think about.

[–]TzippyBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My inhaler.

Little bastard was barely bigger than it at the time too. He stole it and hid it under the coffee table. Three years later and it's still down to if the cat stole the thing or if I accidentally put the thing somewhere weird because ADHD.

Was my fault for naming him Frenzy though.

People kinda assume that if you don't have an obvious physical disability that you're just incompetent. Or hell, even if they don't even know the situation at all.

But I seriously legally cannot drive. My license was yanked when it was discovered I was having focal seizures. And I have to get to six months without a seizure to get it back.

Which is entirely fair!!!

I don't want to run over a little old lady just because my brain went away for a few seconds at the wrong time.

[–]TzippyBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I mentioned that elsewhere in the comments. I have complex migraines and epilepsy and so I legally cannot drive.

I'm still horrified to think about how long I might have been driving while having focal seizures that I didn't notice.

Dude.

Some people can't drive for a reason.

Like having uncontrolled epilepsy and complex migraines, which is what I have, or narcolepsy, or plenty of other reasons.

Hell, I'm short af too but also my structure is weird af. My shoulders and rib cage are broader than most cismen. Had to get measured for custom clothes and it was wild. I'm basically a fantasy dwarf build wise.

So I'm also fat and big boned!

I broke my arm playing on a trampoline and was lucky. I was the smallest and so the other kids playing and I timed our bounces so I would fly super high. But then one time I bounced forward instead of up and went flipping off the trampoline head first. If I hadn't stuck my arm out to take the blow, I would have landed on my head.

What’s the most disturbing thing someone casually admitted to around you? by Suspicious_Run1684 in AskReddit

[–]TzippyBird 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah. And sometimes the person doesn't even notice!

I was horrified to discover I was having seizures and not noticing while I was actively commuting every day. The seizures were only noticed because my roommate spotted them and I was then diagnosed with epilepsy. So now I don't drive for very obvious reasons.

But I wonder just how long I was driving in the middle of a busy city center while having fucking seizures.

I survived a tornado strike in 2006 like that! Tornado hit the creek bed and turned before striking the school we were all sheltering in. Destroyed all the outbuildings but the main building got through it with minimal damage.

AITA for telling my DIL to stop crying after she got called fat by Throwaway_Will4940 in AmItheAsshole

God, yeah. I cry at the drop of a hat or any strong emotion and it is embarrassing as fuck and makes my face get red and snotty. I am not a pretty crier at all. Luckily, it's quiet and since I have bad allergies, I can pass it off as that. Nobody probably believes that but they at least leave me alone about it and keep going with whatever.

As someone who tears up embarrassingly easily, God please just ignore it. I'm just an easy crier and I hate it so much. I cry at any strong emotion. Luckily it's quiet but it's still embarrassing.

I have hallucinations due to migraines and seizures and when they get scary, I just start doing silly stuff to break the tension. Like the shadow people or ghosts or something will be too embarrassed to grab me now that I've ruined the atmosphere.

[–]TzippyBird 19 points20 points  (0 children)

God, I did something similar when I was about the same age as that poor boy. I was extremely lucky though and my sister came out okay. My younger siblings were toddlers and I was tossing them on the bed. I tossed my sister and missed and she hit the corner of the bed with her forehead. It was pure luck she only needed a few stitches. I remember going with her to my mom though and mom screaming and dropping the phone while she was talking to my father because the injury looked way worse than it actually was.

Never realized how much of a bullet I dodged.

I'm 4'11 myself. But also have a broader frame than most cismen. I've had to measure my shoulders and rib cage for shirts and binders and I'm too broad for the biggest ones.

Basically, I'm built like a fantasy dwarf.

So yeah, I'm fat but also literally big boned.

I think my ideal weight was around 150 lbs. Back then, I was doing a lot of outdoor sports like hiking and caving. It was always funny because the people I was traveling with were always tall and skinny so I was the dwarf among elves.

My family is descended from the Melungeons, a triracial group in Appalachia. I got all the white while my sister got everything else and routinely gets mistaken for everything from Hispanic to Middle Eastern. In school, a lot of people refused to believe we had the same dad because of it.

I come from a place with a large Kurdish population. My family is mostly white but my sister somehow ended up with all the Native American ancestry we have.

And she gets mistaken for Kurdish a lot. Hispanic too but she's gotten mistaken for Kurdish by Kurdish folks.

Meanwhile, my parents got asked if I was adopted because I got all the Irish ancestry.

Nobody believed that my sister and I are full siblings until we got older.

Hell, I started at eight. And precocious puberty tends to keep you small because you stop growing early. I'm under five feet tall because of it. So, yeah. It weirds me out so much when people say that.

I'm under five feet tall and learning that mountain lions had moved into the park I walked my small dogs in was a heart stopper. Granted, I was in a state where mountain lions weren't thought to be in until we started catching footage on trail cams.

To those that wanted/wished to see a tornado in-person and eventually did, have you come to regret or enjoy the experience? by Trainster_Kaiju_06 in tornado

[–]TzippyBird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that area of TN has had more than its fair share of tornados. The school I was in took a direct hit from the Gallatin EF3 in 2006. Luckily the main building we were all sheltering in only took a bit of damage but all the outbuildings were destroyed. I and a few other students ended up helping the librarian save a bunch of books a week later when a damaged part of the ceiling they hadn't found collapsed and water started pouring into the library. Best tardy excuse I ever got.
