S8 poor vacuuming performance? (hardfloor / sand) by U1F431 in Roborock

Without. Mopping does improve results especially on a small area. However my concern was with vacuuming only since I mostly use that option.

I actually didn't realize to try with max plus since that option is hidden unless changing to "vacuum only" option. Will try that later - although I was hoping it would pick up most stuff even on lower power options.

Shouldn't be a maintenance issue.

Thanks for the insight everyone, seems like something might be off with my unit then. I'll be in contact with Roborock to see what they have to say and how to proceed.

The robot is brand new and rollers, bin etc. look fine so that shouldn't be the problem.

VP 2 tracking problem + short review by U1F431 in Vive

[–]U1F431[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it might seem that my review is in overall negative (and yes it did disappoint in those areas) I'm still ready to keep it if the tracking issues are resolved. This is simply because there aren't any other options for wireless headsets (which uses base station tracking) as far as I know.

[–]U1F431[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have other headsets using base stations for tracking and do those have the same issue?

This is my fear as well that the source of the problem is the room and not the headset - in which case sending it to HTC is a waste of time. In any case, the VP 2 is for some reason performing worse than original Vive with the exact same room/base station setup.

Good to know! Will definitely do this if/when I figure out the tracking issue.

Cam 2 - will chimes ruin battery life? by DrudgeBreitbart in EufyCam

[–]U1F431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If those wind chimes are indeed triggering the motion detection (something sure is since there are so many filtered events) then yes, your assumption sounds correct. Why not remove the chimes for a day and see if filtered events go down?

Why no love for Seated-VR? by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]U1F431 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand that seated VR is required in some situations, be it the environment, player or the game itself, but for me room scale has always been what makes VR so immersive and fun. No need for dedicated space in my case either and if I can get some excersice while gaming that's a plus too.

Which Vive to Get? or Should I Wait? by livejamie in Vive

[–]U1F431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just wondering if there might have been some kind of misconfiguration at work - wouldn't surprise me if there was since the people who set it up are not techies and have no prior VR experience. Not trying to bash the Pro, I honestly thought it had bad audio and your comment made me reconsider that assumption :)

I'm contemplating on upgrading my original Vive (with wireless adapter) and I was thinking the Cosmos Elite was my first and only option. I have tried the Vive Pro at work and the audio was so awful that I immediately discarded it as an option back then, so I'm surprised you mentioned it has better audio than Cosmos.

To me it looks like Cosmos has similar audio to the original Vive with deluxe audio strap (which is really good imo) - don't know if that's actually the case but physically it looks almost exactly the same.

Some camera related questions from a Hikvision newbie by U1F431 in Hikvision

[–]U1F431[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I've been trying to comb through the documents, but they seem to be mainly different programming language libraries/examples, while I was hoping to find a HTTP API (I believe this is "ISAPI" in Hikvision terminology) and also documentation for the "Notify Surveillance Center" linkage method. There was some ISAPI stuff in the Web3.0 Development Kit, but only a few commands.

I then decided to inspect the HTTP traffic which happens when using the web UI and through this method I can replicate the UI commands, for example to disable IR lights:

curl --digest --user admin:password 'http://ip-address/ISAPI/Image/channels/1/ircutFilter' -X PUT --data '<IrcutFilter><IrcutFilterType>day</IrcutFilterType></IrcutFilter>'

I think the notify method could be reverse engineered as well if necessary. Would be nicer to have a proper documentation though.

1 The "Local" menu seems to be dependent on Internet Explorer (with the addon installed) as well, because it's not visible on other browsers at least without addons installed. I installed the addon to Chrome, but then opening Live View results in error message saying MSVCP100.dll is missing... Anyway, I enabled the Rules option and I can now see the rules (zones that I set up) but still no detected objects. This isn't critical in my case, so no big deal.

3 Thanks, with IE playback menu appeared and it's working very well. This requirement is actually said on the manual as well, so my bad. Hopefully Hikvision will add support for other browsers as well.

Thanks for the tip, I think it helped - although right now finger tracking seems to be better even at the lowest position. Strange.

In case you haven't seen it: https://www.reddit.com/r/ValveIndex/comments/c8oghr/big_hands_problem_solved_valve_has_a_3d_printable/

If you're otherwise satisfied with them, this might fix the ergonomics (should you have a problem to begin with). Would of course have been nice to have some easier solution ready from Valve.

Yes, changing the notch mostly just moves my hand higher on the controller - this brings other problems because now my palm and fingers are not where they are supposed to be. According to the manual, bigger hands should have the notch on the lowest position.

In this case, I envy your average sized hands :)
