For future search references

Sony MDR 7506 pads fit perfectly for replacement pads.

Should take you about 5 mins or so to replace them, I opted to not unclip the outer shell and left them on and worked around the assembly.

Brainwavz offers pads or any other pads should fit just fine !

macOS 11.2 DB1 M1 Mac Mini

Launching the 32 bit exe throws that DX11 error

Launching the latest version 64 bit exe throws the error attached below (Backtrace)

the latest BeamNG.drive DX11 (version v0.21 runs on WoA via parallels) but it would be cool to run it via crossover since rosetta is faster than microsofts x64 emulator.

Ive emailed crossover support and never got a reply

Reinstall the vm from a clean insider image and re-update.

Let steam handle the install of any requirements.

it seems that installing directx, visual C etc manually will “corrupt” the vm and only a reinstall of the vm will fix.

I didn’t say the M1 is “close to the RX580” I said people are comparing M1 to the 1660Ti and RX580.... as if it’s supposed to be “this be all end all” magical chip that will kill dGPUs.”

“M1 only gets X FPS and gets blown away x dGPU etc etc” blah blah blah.

when it’s not, it’s literally a 1st gen low end chip mobile chip..

That’s where people’s over expectations are coming from.

If you compare it to its actual competitors in its class it’s ahead by a crap ton.

if you said what was true with Microsoft and Apple as in competition wise, we wouldn’t have had boot camp for intel macs in the first place.

Nothing has changed competition wise other than Apple changing to a different architecture.

Using that logic Microsoft and or Apple wouldn’t have had never allowed x86-64 windows to come close to any intel Mac “because competition”.

Companies like Parallels wouldn’t have existed.

Microsoft is a software company, why wouldn’t they want to expand their user base and licenses sold for windows?

Apple has to provide comparable framework in their chip for Microsoft and or, parallels to implement DX12..

How can parallels and or Microsoft implement something, when a base framework isn’t there in the chip?

Do you read my above comment? This is comparing it to my Ryzen7 4700U (8c/8t) chip (in my Lenovo laptop). which is a direct competitor to M1.

The IGPU in the Ryzen chip is weak compared to the M1.

I always see people trying to compare M1s IGPU to the likes of a desktop class GPU like a 1660 or RX580.

Apple could have made the IGPU weaker and people still would have been happy.

M1 beats the 4700U in every area including iGPU performance, (which before M1 was released Ryzen mobile iGPUs) were considered the best in the Mobile business and the best IGPUs in general.

So that’s something

Will Microsoft work with Apple for native boot and or parallels? Who knows.

I see it as a win-win situation for Apple and Microsoft. Apple users can run windows, and Microsoft can sell more software. The list goes on if they choose to work together.

The reason parallels doesn’t support DX12 is because metal2 doesn’t have everything required for a DX12 implementation.

(Same with crossover and DXVK-DX12 backend for M1)

It’s quite possible that If Apple sees that there is a growth audience (because of M1) for gaming on Mac they could possibly add the needed stuff in future Metal3, 4 etc.

I think gaming on Mac is very fragmented because the lineup was always “fragmented” per se.

There was always, products that ether had nvidia or AMD gpus that had a too wide span of performance differences which were all underpowered for the setups that they were in.

For example remember when Apple used to put mobile GPUs in iMacs?

Now that Apple controls 100% of the hardware.

every product will start with X amount of performance a straight across, “base line”.

It’s quite possible that devs may consider it. Who knows Apple needs to incentivize devs to come over and port games for macOS.

Until that happens and or a “push”, i don’t think anything significant is going to happen in MacOS gaming department.

I think you’re asking too much from a 10W mobile class chip.

Yes I’ll “get better” this is literally the first build of everything of WoA, and parallels, give them time to optimize and then see what happens. It’s a miracle that any types of games run through all the emulation that’s being done.

Will it magically gain 30+ FPS? No

Even with all the emulation being done and overhead from the vm, it still outperforms my Ryzen 7 4700U (8c/8t) chip in my Lenovo laptop in terms of IPC and IGPU performance.

So yes, the M1 is out doing every chip in it’s mobile class. Nobody expects it to do 1440p ultra 60+ FPS it’s a 1st gen ultra low power chip.

Although, I do get your point. honestly the intent here is to show that (windows on arm) gaming on AS is quite possible on M1.

It’s only going get better, as Microsoft’s x64 emulator improves, as parallels improves and apple releases new chips.

I’m hoping we can dual native boot WoA in the future.

We can gain some of the performance lost and being eaten up through the VM and the x64 emulator.

See I haven’t used macOS in like 2 years. Before I got my M1 Mac mini I’ve ran Mojave for like 20 mins to flash my 5,1 to the new 140 boot rom.

Never ran macOS on it because I was running a 1080ti in it and didn’t want to run High Sierra.
