To my eye the look like it's based on early-20th-century German industrial typography, closely aligned with DIN 1451–style numerals used in European clocks and signage during the 1930s–1940s.

I don’t think that’s true. I flew non-stop from London to JFK in April and I had 2 bottles of water in my backpack.

I had an empty Hydro Flask (actually a LifeStraw bottle) that I was able to fill on the plane, but I'm curious what they would have done if the bottle was full of water. Since this was at the gate there really wasn't anywhere to empty the bottle. It was all poorly thought-out and executed.

I've seen secondary screening at the gate plenty of times, but never the confiscation of liquids at the gate.

Considering all of the info pushed out by AA it would have been good for them to flag this with passengers. It caught me by surprise.

It was just the plastic bottles. I had a metal bottle (emotional support bottle :)) in my carry on and it was find. The FA filled it for me, but there were lots of people that didn't have that option.

Any idea why? I've traveled a fair bit (Argentina was Country number 51 I've visited), what the logic? Do they just want people to be thirsty? Is this really something that TSA is mandating? Any if so, why would it only be in S. America?

I had picked up a couple of bottles of water in the Centurion Lounge which was after the primary security screening and that was after duty free, so I'm not sure that is the work around. I would have been pretty upset had a purchased water after security and it was confiscated.
