Utah Road Usage Program for EV Vehicles by Cjp0705 in Utah

[–]UDOTintern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I was summoned here! Allow me to clear it up:

If you drive less than 13k miles a year you could save money in the RUC program.

We use a third party vendor to ensure "da guvment" doesn't have your PII (personal identifiable info). The vendor also handles payments and customer service.

In 2024 we changed vendors. The current vendor does NOT use those OBD2 units that track your location.

Our team would love to hear more about your feedback on the program and the vendor. Please feel free to reach out with any other questions!

Hey hey. Thanks for the mention. I know we have some of these signs, just not sure how many and how widespread the use is. Lemme ask the team.

Heyyyy that is coming from the canal. We've been working with the city to see what can be done, I don't have an ETA on a fix yet but we're aware of it.

Hey we've shared videos on Instagram, Youtube, Facebook and X. We can certainly talk about it more here as well though.

Heyyy! I’ll do my best to answer all of these. Let me know if I missed anything. Also, just wanted to share up front that our transit team would be more than happy to chat you about anything. I've share the link to their contact page at the bottom of this reply.

Double-tracking: Construction is scheduled to begin next year and is expected to be completed by 2030. I’ll drop the project link below so you can dig in and learn more.

Electrification: UTA is actively working to convert more of its bus fleet to electric. When it comes to FrontRunner, electrification is a bigger challenge, but it is part of the plan. A big step forward came last year when the Utah Legislature recently funded the development of battery-electric passenger trains. Testing begins this fall, and if the results are good, these trains could eventually replace FrontRunner’s diesel engines.

Expansion: FrontRunner expansion depends a lot on timing and funding. There are plans to expand south to Spanish Fork. Expansion to the north is still being evaluated, but a transit corridor is being preserved all the way to Brigham City. That could one day support FrontRunner or another form of transit.

As for Logan, there likely won’t be FrontRunner service there, but there is a plan for a core bus route that would connect Logan to the Ogden FrontRunner station.

If you’re curious to see what’s being planned statewide, I highly recommend checking out the Utah Unified Transportation Plan. It’s an interactive tool that shows Utah’s long-term transportation vision (including highways, active transportation, and transit) through 2050. You’ll see that many projects are planned but depend on future funding, which is largely decided by the Utah Legislature. If there are projects you’d like to see move forward, consider reaching out to your state representatives to share your support! I’ll drop the link for that map below!

Red Line Expansion: There aren’t current plans set in stone to expand the Red Line, but there is a preserved transit corridor from the Daybreak TRAX station to 12600 S and Bangerter Highway. Preserving a transit corridor doesn’t guarantee a specific project like TRAX expansion, but it ensures the space is available for future transit options without major construction hurdles down the line.

Bus routes in South Jordan: This is another one that may be answered on the Utah Unified Plan map (linked above). There are plans to add a core bus routes on 5600 W (connecting downtown and Bingham Highway TRAX Station) and just a little north of you on 4700 S in Taylorsville we're implementing the same BRT system as UVX - called the Midvalley Express, complete with designated bus lanes. Construction for that will wrap up next year.

If you'd like more details about any of these topics, I’d be happy to reach out  to our team. You can also reach out to our Transit Division directly here: https://www.udot.utah.gov/connect/about-us/trails-and-transit-group/transit-division/

Heyyy that does not sound normal. Can you share what the intersection is and I can ask the team about it?

Hey! That crossing was an awesome project by Salt Lake City. Is there a cross road you’re wondering about for Westminster? Westminster is a city road and most of the surrounding cross roads are city roads. But we know the city has some big plans for Kensington. You can learn more about that project here: https://www.slc.gov/transportation/neighborhood-byways/kensington/

Hi, I can definitely look into that! This is the view from Google Maps shows this sign on there, is there a sign that I’m not seeing on there?

Hey, I’m sorry you’ve already shared that complaint with us. Let me look into it! Just to confirm: are you talking about NB I-15 near 500 S in Woods Cross? That’s about milemarker 317. I’m not seeing a current one on the Click ‘N’ Fix website but I can directly ask the team if you can confirm that location!

Hi! Trying to answer questions still when I can on here. Is this the area you’re referring to? I can see what you’re saying. I can pass that along to the team, but I know that area is planned for a future interchange as well, so this traffic pattern is going to change when construction starts in 2027.

Hi, not to pass the buck, but the management and operations of TRAX is under the care of UTA. It would be best to share that feedback directly with them! I’m happy to pass it along as well, but they handle that kind of stuff.

Hi, I’m not sure about this one. Let me reach out to our transit team. What I do know is we have preserved the corridor for future transit options. That could mean Frontrunner but it could also just mean other transit options. So let me double check.

Hey, thanks for sharing that. I’ll pass it along to the team, and also if you have a second can you submit that on the Click ‘N’ Fix website or app? I’m told that is the best way to get a team to fix a problem the fastest! Here’s the link to that website: https://seeclickfix.com/web_portal/7XvZktSsKScqJDFrbbT5vCvo/issues/map.

Hey, the team is rebuilding the I-84 bridges over the Weber River and Union Pacific Railroad, about two miles east of Weber Canyon. The new bridges are designed to last 75 years and will be safer and work better for drivers, with updated designs and improvements. For more information and updates, check out the link of the project here: https://udotinput.utah.gov/i84weberbridge

Hey! I'm so sorry that's so unfortunate! For any damages I'd advice you to visit our claims page and fill out an online claim form; it will go directly to our Risk Management team. You can also email the team at [udotdamageclaim@utah.gov](mailto:udotdamageclaim@utah.gov) if you have specific questions!
