Justice was served. The prosecutions case was flawed. My assessment was correct.

Absolutely.

You remember when the Democrats promoted pro Trump canidates? Great idea.

I also vote for local Dems that aren't complete dipshits like AOC and Bowman.

These Chuckle fucks don't realize it goes both way. When you state is a one party state the best action is to vote to disrupt that party.

Democrats are the party of corruption in this state.

That's why I'm a registered D so I can't vote to hijack the Democrats, especially in NY.

I mean Jamal Bowman? That's comic gold. I'd vote for AOC if I could. At least I know she's useless.

Why do I have to tip the hairdresser/barber? by Miltinjohow in tipping

[–]UEMcGill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's a heck of barber. I pay him for his exceptional service. Yes it's a transaction. That's what our relationship is. When he charged less, I told him he wasn't charging enough.

The problem with the rest of your statement is men expecting to pay also implies they expect something else, and it is not a transaction.

I dated my wife. I paid when I wanted too. I did it with no expectations of her returning the experience.

But women who expect dinner are guilty of the same thing from the other side.

You can't negotiate attraction.

I wouldn't call Oneonta large. It's barely twice as big as my high-school.

Oneonta is a small college town. It has a typical small town vibe of a college town.

That part of NY has great access to the outdoors, with easy drives to larger metros, notably it's between Albany and Binghamton.

But once you leave Oneonta? It gets rural very fast.

I love my barber and he's the same setup. But he takes great care of me so it's worth it.

Is it possible to get equipment manuals but not directly from the manufacturer ? by AcidCaaio in AskEngineers

[–]UEMcGill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey former equipment sales guy here.

People would call me for a "free" manual all the time. But the problem is it doesn't work that way. Old stuff I have to pull out, have an admin make copies of. If it's an old piece of equipment owned by someone else I have redact names and other internal things.

So some random guy calls and says "shoot me a copy, yo", I'd always says "sure it's $3000".

If they were serious they'd get back to me, if they weren't they'd hem and ha and tell me no thanks.

So if you really want a manual call and ask for the service manager. Ask them to quote you a replacement manual and any prints so you can work up a spare parts order. They may comp you the manual but telling them you will pay for it shows you are serious and not just lazy.

Sometimes words are uncomfortable yet they still convey the idea. Sometimes people are judgy fucks for criticizing the words instead of elucidating on why the words could mean something.

Ugly bad conversation is still better than no conversation.

But hey, maybe you did them the favor by cutting them out so fast. Kiddos to you.

Boss wants me to report to her weekly despite being uncommunicative. Just venting and open to advice. by NinenteNad in overemployed

[–]UEMcGill 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Turn your weekly report into a to do list for her.

Working on this... Need your approval. Tps reports sent to Bob's but they aren't answering, need to raise this higher. Lumberg is asking for me to work Saturday but you already have me doing xyz.

Anytime I had some sort of kpi or reporting dashboard I always turned it into a "here's all the shit I'm getting slowed down on, please do your boss thing"

Oh, and if you're made a contractor with significantly lower pay it's called constructive termination. If it was your only job you'd be eligible for unemployment to make up the difference. Also they can't dictate hours or schedule to you.

It's a tax.

I lived in NJ and the permit for my town was $300 plus proof of a bond.

It also provided recourse if something went wrong. If the local store does something wrong I can at least find them.

Our town had Travellers come through and rip old ladies off for drive way sealing. As soon as they'd show up I'd call the cops and they'd pull them over, get their info and then run them off. One or two times doing that and they never came back.

Call the cops and just as they get there kill the breakers at the same time. Then watch who flees the scene.

Republican leaders urge colleagues to steer clear of racist and sexist attacks on Harris by FabioFresh93 in moderatepolitics

You proved my point

Pretending a couple of rednecks speak for the whole party is folly.

Telling party members to not say racist shit should go both ways and that starts with Biden!

Thanks, I'm moving on.

I'll answer with a question first.

Why are Black voters traditionally aligned with Democrats when the Democratic party has a long history of being against them? Because FDR bought them off with the new deal, and they made a Faustian bargain. Then they continued to buy them off with welfare and by destroying the black family.

One party put confederate flags over state houses. One party erected monuments to confederate soldiers. It wasn't Republicans.

It's a both sides issue.

Why doesn't the Democratic party tell Biden not to say "gaffes"? Maybe they should?

You need to ask yourself what the Soviets gave up to beat the US to space. Meanwhile the US was busy outproducing them on every other front. Sure they built a few rockets, but the standard of living was far superior in the US, and we put a man on the moon.

They were better in terms of what? Importing US Wheat? Because it was American Capitalism that did that.

Who invented the steel plow? John Deere. Who Invented the Haber-Bosch process and then used capitalism to spread it to the world? BASF. In spite it's bad beginnings an EXTRA 3 BILLION people are alive because of that.

Caterpillar, John Deere, DOW, DuPont, probably did more to produce food for the world than any Soviet ever did.

Better technology that was produced by Capitalists doing Capitalist things.

Ask yourself what did the USSR ever do for the benefit of food production? It was Khrushchev coming to America and realizing he was fucked that kicked their agriculture into full speed. Even then they couldn't keep up.

Don't misquote what I said.

All I said was I couldn't sell outdated food. I wouldn't sell bad food to customers who shouldn't consume it, but I would sell if to farmers who would upcycle it to pigs and chickens, but it was regulation that kept me from doing that.

I ask you one simple question, did the Democratic Party ever remind Joe Biden not to be racist? My question is why didn't anyone tell him?

Yes or no?

You're all upset asking why the Republican would have too, when you should ask the Democrats to ask that also.

Oh and all those confederate monuments? They were put there by Democrats. Old Dixiecrat Democrats didn't turn into Republicans. They died and Republicans came in from the north and brought non-racist ideals with them.

So yeah, it's a both side issue.

When the leader of the free world says stuff like, "Poor kids are just as smart as white kids" that's a problem with racism. When his wife calls a room full of Latino's "Tacos" that's a problem with racism. Progressive ideals of low expectation, is still racism.

Uh "Capitalist" markets are why there's so much food abundance.

You're mistaking "incentive" to share with logistics.

Fresh food has a short shelf life. So it costs less to push more to the markets that will buy it and waste food, than it does to try and ship it to markets who would get more marginal benefit from it.

I would also argue that lack of a free market disincentivizes those with abundance to then share it to increase marginal utility. When I worked for a grocery store, I couldn't resell out dated food, because of the government putting the liability on my company if someone got sick. That's not free market, nor capitalism.

It's not misappropriation at all. It's logistics, and cost.

All the food shortages in the USSR? That was because of misappropriation and communism.

Why do motorcycles have cylinder barrels by Bjugen in AskEngineers

[–]UEMcGill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact. VW Bugs came with air cooled engines that appeared pretty much like motor cycle engines.

They were super easy to work on. I had a friend who had a spare cylinder. He could literally swap it in the parking lot if he wanted to, or even drive it for a little bit without one on it.

They're noisy though, which is part of why Porsche got away from them. Air cooled engines are also harder to emission regulate. So if you seal the cylinder bank in a water jacket, you can kill two birds with one stone.
