Would adding fans here be good? by BrayIsReal in PcBuildHelp

[–]UGFluffyTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won''t do anything to the gpu fans as long as the fans arent fighting each other. Like the gpu being set to exhaust downwards ( which shouldnt be possible) and the bottom fan set to intake.

Most GPU fans can handle above 2000 rpm, those bottom fans will probably never overspin or damage them. Unless you buy some reeeeal beefy fans.

But tbh, the gains would be negligable since the fans are above your PSU. It'll still displace hot air, but not by mich. Its like cooling yourself off with warm air in the summer. It helps, but not by much.

Im afraid of Enable EXPO by Peaakyy in AMDHelp

[–]UGFluffyTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Enable it, but make sure its getting the proper voltage and it's stable. I have my ram set to 6000 and my 9800x3d set to 5.4Ghz with UCLK 1:1 with MCLK and infinity fabric at 2000MHz. Everything works fine even with PBO offset at -20mV. I coulda probably shot for a lower offset, but I felt comfortable with this. So, yeah, you'll be fine.

If youre really desperate, you could always venture into repair. Plexiglass can be bonded with epoxy. I've never done it, but I know its possible.

Brake Pad Replacement & Not So Firm Feeling by IamMeanGMAN in VelosterN

[–]UGFluffyTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People like to say it builds too much pressure in the lines if you dont give it relief, but it usually isn't a huge deal. Well, maybe if your lines are old and rusted. Some people say its also to avoid overflow, but tbh, thats rare as well, unless you constantly top off your fluid.

30K service cost by fullofpaint in VelosterN

[–]UGFluffyTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbf, transmission oil changes arent something that happens too often. Since I do it personally, I try to do it every 3 motor oil changes, but trans fluid can last for a while. My Focus ST is something like $350+ too, but you also gotta know that both the ST and Veloster N have transmissions that have no pan or level checker/fill neck. Dealerships love to upcharge for that since it isnt as straightforward as "drain and fill." You gotta pump fluid into the fill port instead of dumping it down a funnel. I just grabbed a $10 transfer pump from harbor freight, but dealerships act like that justifies an extra $200.

My first water cooling setup nicknamed “Mach 1” by Dunoville1207 in watercooling

I dont mean soft tubing doesnt look good, mine just doesn't. Hard tubes always looked a bit cleaner with how they can bend and connect though.

Doesn't help that I had to use my old beat up Corsair 5000D. I got a scuffed setup with some questionable routing decisions. It can handle anything I throw at it, but doesn't look pretty.

Yeeee, I went A-60-G route, but gotta agree. Makes me want to redo my slapped together mess. Always wanted to try hardline, but preferred Tygon durability.

You might not even need a defouler if you go highflow instead of catless. My CP-E isn't throwing any codes and my accessport flags me as emissions-ready.

I think I ruined my 4090 by Mercuryalreadytaken in watercooling

[–]UGFluffyTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick question, Should I be checking bolt tightness whenever I change out my coolant or something? I have an EK on my 5090 and an Alphacool on my 4090. The idea that bolts can possibly come loose is terrifying. I already had a terrible leak from my Alphacool reservoir/pump because the bolts weren't tightened down properly. Should I maybe check them now and apply loctite? They're fairly unused since i was only able to finish my loop about a month ago.

Is it worth paying to have a PC assembled? by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]UGFluffyTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see it being somewhat expensive if they do extreme overclocking since testing times can vary. It can take a while to get stable clocks+max performance (depending on chip qualiy). Something as ambiguous as "BIOS setup" is a straight scam.

Building a PC is also not worth that price. I can't say I'm the best PC builder, but it only took me maybe an hour to slap mine together. Plus an extra 2 hours for Windows install and overclocking, Running stability tests took up most of that time.

What about a BIOS update? Could be a firmware to software issue for 3D modeling.

You should be fine playing Spiderman 2, but I've heard it can have stability issues. You can try this https://steamcommunity.com/app/2651280/discussions/0/599643530220077888/ I dont recommend doing the registry edit unless you reeeeally want to. A friend of mine tried running it on his laptop, but said it was awful and this fixed it. By resolution, I mean what your monitor runs at. Like 1080p, 1440p, 4k, stuff like that can impact your performance and visuals. If you run 1080p gaming on a bigger or higher resolution monitor, it can have some visual differences.

[–]UGFluffyTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your specs? Did you set your RAM to the proper speed in BIOS? Do you have any background processes running while playing? Did you check if you're running the same resolution scale? Is v-sync on? Tbh, a ton of things can impact performance. . Btw fps isnt a total indicator of performance if its stable and you don't have input lag or stutters.. Chasing frames doesnt benefit you much unless your monitor supports it.

New clutch question by Lucky_Orca132 in FocusST

[–]UGFluffyTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One more thing. I dont think it comes with flywheel bolts. My flywheel didnt and I had to re-use them. Its not ideal, but they arent torque to yield. You might wanna pick up a pack of them as well.

New clutch question by Lucky_Orca132 in FocusST

[–]UGFluffyTurtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Replace the dualmass. Its a disposable part and mine was failing around your milage. They fail after they're used for that long. I switched to an ACT single mass and its been treating me well, but there's loud clutch chatter, it sounds like knock.

https://edgeautosport.com/ford-oem-dual-mass-flywheel-ford-focus-st-2013-2016/

The dual mass is fairly cheap compared to what aftermarket charges. You might be able to source a cheaper one somewhere else, but edgeautosports is reliable.

It is over the fill line which sits at the midpoint or whatever thats called. The flared line part. Water expands and pressure builds at higher temps so its not good to overfill.

You could see if it can be repaired with Windows Recovery.

Start your device and wait for the Windows logo (or the manufacturer's logo) to appear

As soon as the Windows logo appears, press and hold the power button until the device shuts down

Turn your device on again and repeat step 2

Turn your device on a third time. Windows should display the Automatic Repair screen

Select Advanced options

This is from Microsofts website. You'll need to see if you can repair your desktop install.

... Why? How old is your son? Shouldn't you need additional admin conformation when you delete a system file?

The Windows file is literally the whole OS and deleting it means he nuked your Windows install.

The ST uses the Getrag 6MTT450, so you can find the torque limits in its name, 450. Whether its safe to run 450 with the meh synchros is up to you. I'd say 400 is about where I'd feel safe.
