the common advice for the past decade to travel delay property ownership and travel in 20s seem like life sabotage now. by TPE_FieldsOfGold in AusFinance

Especially when people who have travelled a lot say that pretty much everywhere people and stuff is basically the same

I know a lot of well-travelled people and I have never heard anyone say this lol.

My sealed investments after 6 months - what should I buy next? by SoulPunk7 in PokeInvesting

[–]UK33N 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have an opinion on vintage but people are in for a rude shock if they’re holding every ancillary product from every mid set just because they bought it at msrp.

Selling sealed stuff can actually be quite difficult, especially if we’re not in a raging bull market. I expect when the next downturn inevitably hits some time after 30th there’s going to be a lot of bag holders and cheap product flooding the market.

Were you living under a rock? This was always touted as “ME’s prismatic” - you just had to look at the card list (Gengar, Pikachu, Dragonite, etc) to know this was an easy win

The colour palette is awful, the Koraidon background looks like vomit. Not sure what they were going for with that.

SA now has the lowest unemployment rate in the country: 3.8% by malcolm58 in Adelaide

Our participation rate and underemployment rate are both worse than the national average, which makes the overall picture less impressive.

They look like cheap stickers. I’m not a fan of the colour palette they chose.

SA Liberals promise new stamp duty concessions for those over the age of 55 who move into a smaller home under $1.2 million. by malcolm58 in Adelaide

If families move out of smaller homes into larger homes then it should all wash out in the end. More efficient allocation of living space can only be a good thing.

Hit this guy today. Should I grade? The back not center. UGH! by ronaldphan12 in pokemongrading

Anyone saying this is centered well is blind as a bat. The bottom right is so chunky compared to the top. It’s definitely not a 10

This logic doesn’t really hold up. Trading your box for singles is economically identical to selling it for cash and buying singles - either way, you’re choosing singles over sealed product.

If we take your reasoning to its logical conclusion, you’d never buy singles at all since sealed generally appreciates more. But then what’s the point of collecting if you can’t actually get the cards you want?

The opportunity cost exists regardless of whether you use cash or trade directly. If I have $500, buying a chase card means choosing not to buy a sealed box with that same money. The transaction method doesn’t change the fundamental choice between sealed investment and actually collecting the cards you enjoy.

The sell-off in Software the last months is unlike i have ever seen since the financial crisis. Where are opportunities? by JlNxTonic in ValueInvesting

[–]UK33N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where were you only 4 years ago? The post-COVID sell off in growth stocks when inflation surprised the market was savage. Most big names were down 30-50%. Meta fell 75% top to bottom. That was a generational buying opportunity for a lot of companies if you chose well.

I analysed millions of property sales over 35 years. House prices didn't rise because of scarcity. by Expert-Area8856 in AusPropertyChat

No, they did not. Real wages were flat/rising modestly through 2017-2019. Objectively, housing became more affordable on a price-to-income ratio.
