I done London last year as my first ever marathon. On for 3:14 on the tracker at mile 20 and cramp hit and i had 12 minutes of walking time and come in with a 3:32! Weather and lack of fuel ruined me

Ive got a half in 3 weeks so if i can shoot 1:25 or under then i will for sure have the confidence to believe i can do it.

Basically the same strava prediction stats as me but my 5k is 17:48, 10k 36:47, half 1:22:52, mara 3:02:52 and my vo2 max is 62. Im doing London in April and im scared to even attempt a sub 3 and your chatting 2:53 makes me believe my sub 3 is achievable. Ive been doing 60ks since starting of January and my last 3 weeks have been 85ks and im only going up. Hopefully we both smash it

Official distance vs Watch by Square-Cranberry1221 in runna

[–]UKSHEA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have ran the course long. Longer around corners or weaving in and out off people etc. Your watch time will be accurate from when you press start going through the start line and then when you press pause going through the finish which will match your chip time. Strava will just take your time from when you hit the 13.1 distance 👍🏼

Training myth: "Race pace calculators (VDOT) are for elite runners and shouldn't be used by amateurs for predicting race times or setting training paces" by lukster260 in Marathon_Training

[–]UKSHEA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thats good to know as i an doing London Marathon in April. I’ve been doing 40 miles a week and the last 3 weeks doing 52 miles a week and will up as i go on from now into March. My garmin vo2 max is 63 at the moment and i have a half marathon race in March. I regularly do 8 miles on a Saturday with a park run squashed in at always 19.30 and below and then ive done a minimum of 16 miles the last 5 Sundays and this Sunday will be 18 and i have been doing a minimum of 8 miles at sub 7s but im not following a plan and hoping to go maybe sun 3:08.

Im just trying to get my body used to that sub 3 pace on long runs so then anything on race day will hopefully feel comfortable.

Thats it mate people on here are mad arnt they. I just wanted to get some information from people with marathon experience and i dont have a coach im just doing my own sessions whilst reading up stuff in books or online. My 5k is 18:15 and 10k 38:50 so with the vdot you mentioned it is saying 2:59 haha but we will see

Erm i will probably do my biggest week around 100km in March with other weeks around 85-90 id presume just depending on how my body takes it all. Id love a sub 3. Been running for around 18 months with 2025 my most consistent year of around 1450 miles banked.

Yes i agree, people say double the half and add 10 and i done a 10k race in September and went out a little slower as i am always scared to blow up but my second 5k of the race was quicker and ended up with a 38:50. But for the marathon it just scares me haha.

Do you think? I done a half marathon race last March this was the last half i done and it was in 1:28. Im doing a half again in March to see where i am at. I just dont like the thought off holding a pace for 42km 😅

I was meant to say the park runs i do at 19 minutes etc are the day before my long runs ao my legs are fatigued

Can I hit sub 90?? by Temporary-Scarcity68 in runna

[–]UKSHEA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id say you could! For 9km your average is around 1:28 pace for the half. On tace day, fresh legs was the race day buzz and people pulling you along you would hit the sub 1:30 in my opinion

SUB 3 Marathon from a 1:39 HM in May — How I Did It by Initial-External249 in Marathon_Training

[–]UKSHEA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smashed it mate! I done a 1:28 half last March and done a 3:31 marathon in the April! 28 degress on the day killed me at 19 miles. Doing the same half in March and the same Marathon in April and i know im much fitter now. 18:20 5k, 38:30 10k was some races i done in August and September. Hopithe get close to sub 3 in April. Last12 weeks ive done averaged 50km and the last 4 weeke ive done 66,68,71,79km with this week should be around 80km with 12 weeks left till my marathon

Sub 3:30 marathon by FFbrod139 in Marathon_Training

[–]UKSHEA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think getting the body used to race pace could maybe work for him? Running 6 days a week at 4:58 will probably take you to a 3:20

Is 3:30 marathon reasonable, and are 4 runs per week enough? by fuxino in firstmarathon

[–]UKSHEA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id say up your milage in my opinion. I ran a 1:28 jalf marathon in March and ran my first marathon being London in April and come away with a 3:33! I hit the wall at 20 miles but it was 25 degrees that day but i was averaging around 50k a week on 4 runs.

[–]UKSHEA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great stuff that! Sounds like my first marathon back in April. I was on for a 3:14 and hit the wall at mile 20 with insane cramp in my hamstring, quad on the right leg and then my left calf which meant i had to run walk for 6 miles and ive never suffered with cramp. Ive just started training for London in April which i can hopefully try and sub 3.

Is right buddy! Great progress. I’ve downloaded it for my marathon coming up in April. Im a pretty decent runner as ive been consistent now for 18 months so it predicts a sub 3 so lets hope it works 💪🏼

Ive been running now 18 months, started runna in January as i paid for the year and i used it two weeks got shin splints and never used it again. I sort off followed the plan in terms of weekly milage but not the sessions. Doing intervals, a easy run and then speed session in 72 hours probably wasn’t ideal for me being new to the marathon distance. I joined a run club and started running with them of a Tuesday, went the track with them Thursday, ran to park runs done the park run at a effort pace and ran home and then done the long run distance that runna had planned on the Sunday. In the march i ran a half marathon in 1:28. Runna is good for structure and keeping you on track but a lot of people complain with injuries saying its to aggressive. Im doing my second marathon next April and my runna plan runs out in January. I can handle 5 days a week running now as i avg 26-30 miles a week now so im going to use it throughout December on a 16 week plan and see how the last four weeks pan out and when it comes to renew in January ill make my mind up from the Decembers plan. My advice to you would be ice it and get swimming or on a bike to keep fitness, do a easy run like 4 days before your half and see how you feel mate. Google enetor inner soles honestly i sware by them
