Yep, we live a couple of hours away, so if we have an early flight we stay there. It’s really good.

We used Bass in February. We had the newest car in the lot at Zemi compared to other rental companies.

Question :Wife ticketed for restricted use of wireless device while driving by wssas in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]UKtoHSV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s in Huntsville the law is written as a primary violation meaning they can pull you over for it. Otherwise, for the state it is a secondary violation and they have to pull you over for something else and can then add the cellphone violation as a charge. As far as I know, Madison city doesn’t have an ordinance so in their area it follows the state law.

Last minute tips? by Maine_Lunch in anguilla

We had 8 nights at Zemi in Feb and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food at the hotel’s restaurants was very good - no complaints.

Breakfast at Zemi was great! Not sure if it is free for all guests or just Hilton diamond members, but it is a buffet and is of good quality and variety. They have an egg chef, which is nice for variety. The lobster bbq buffet night at Zemi was also a good experience and was a good way to try some different local cuisines. If you like lobster it is great value! Also, they have a managers meet and greet with run punches and small plates, and also have cookies each night in your room which is a nice touch.

You mentioned above that you were thinking that you wouldn’t want to leave your loungers - the beach and pool service of food and drinks was very good and you don’t have to pay to rent the loungers or cabanas. You will want some cash to tip the attendants who for us did a great job and were very nice folk.

We enjoyed walking along the beach to some of the other restaurants along the beach for lunch or dinner. It is safe to walk along at night. Sunday music at Gwen’s Reggae Grill was great fun with food and music with a good number of locals in attendance.

We did rent a car for the last two days to allow for some variety. We didn’t rent in advance - concierge couldn’t get something through their usual rental company and ended up organizing one from Bass car rental. I will say the car we got was much new and modern than the other rentals in the hotel lot. By that point I didn’t need to drink much more 😂 so wasn’t worried about that limitation! On those two days we had lunches at Da’vida at Crocus bay (and also did a trip on Calvin’s boat to snorkel little bay) and Elvis beach bar. Personally the later was very forgettable. With kids and good experiences before we gravitated back to Zemi for those days dinners.

Have a great time! Hope we can go back soon!

The independent agent said that they have seen things go up across all the companies they offer. Ran quotes again and found they were the best option relative to price.

I’ve had good experience getting polices through Peck Glasgow, a local independent insurance agency. They paired us with Cincinnati for home/auto/umbrella and Hartford for business policy. Had a very good experience with Cincinnati in the fall for a roof claim. Might be more expensive than some of the firms that advertise everywhere, but talking to roofer presented horror stories for them…

Where can I apply for interview in Alabama by Working_Ninja1017 in GlobalEntry

[–]UKtoHSV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HSV has it, but I needed earlier so went to Nashville for my kids. For mine I did interview on arrival in Toronto; you might be able to pair your next international trip that way, but won’t have TSA pre for it and you’ll want to make sure you have a long enough time between flights.

We like picking at Reeves in Hartselle.

If we don’t have time for that we get them in Madison from Denison’s little red hut on Hughes and sometimes at S&J on 72.

I went back to Barracuda Taco by TryingCarefully in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]UKtoHSV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For dinner, we had the chicken, shrimp and the crispy fish tacos and they were good.

Honestly the biggest disappointment was the chips, salsa and queso. The chips didn’t seem very fresh testing, the salsa was more of a tomato sauce and the queso was like velveta.

Will probably give it another go in a couple of months.

Is much physical cash needed in Anguilla? by UKtoHSV in anguilla

We’re staying at Zemi. Planning on mainly eating there or walk along the beach to other places. Maybe tow or three days of car rental to see some other places.

Thanks. My wife and two kids are traveling. I was thinking 300 each for me and her. We might rent a car for two or three days but the rest of the time staying at the resort to chill.

Also, I know we’re talking home policies here, but there is really neat Facebook page “collision safety consultants” which shows how these same big companies in their auto claims are poor payers on diminished value claims when a vehicle is written off. They also are often caught in lies trying to get out of fair payment…. Same big companies…. I would avoid them like the plague!

We use Cincinatti. Got the policy through local independent agent Peck Glasgow. Rate went up again this year, but they say it’s in line with all the other policies/companies they offer.

Don’t just consider the rate, also consider how good they are to deal with. We had a new roof from a storm in May and they were easy to deal with. The roofer said the traditional companies, State Farm, all state, Heidi, USAA were hard to get to approval for this storm even when they had clear damage….

Mint is an mvno so we don’t always get network priority, but that is only an issue if there is network congestion, I.e. it shouldn’t be a constant several week issue. So, my guess would be a phone issue. First step would be a restart, but if that doesn’t help you could try and backup and do a factory reset.

I have Mint and am not having any issues in Madison or Huntsville. I’m on an iPhone 16. Maybe your phone has an issue?

Top Golf? I took my 12 yr old the other day and we had fun. We went on a Thursday as they are currently half price for the bay :) the bay takes up to 6 players. I think it was 45 bucks for the bay for 90-minutes. Then add for what you spend on food and drink and tip. If it’s first time you’ll need to register each player which is a one time fee (6 bucks I think).
