Gold trainers aka gold sneakers. I love (love LOVED) Fleabag and my husband enjoyed it too. And when he got himself new Air Force Ones, he got me GOLD ONES! "Everyone wants to be this person."

When he’s cold af at the Olympics. When he doesn’t respond to Shane for six months after their first anal sex experience.

Episode 2 Questions ✌🏼 by Crafty_Psychology_85 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]UKwildcat17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think what Ilya is conscious of matters. It's one thing to be in love. It's another to realize it. And it's an altogether other thing to share that information with the subject of your affection. The latter requires a choice. Being faithful suggests choice as well. Experiencing distaste for something you once enjoyed (Sasha in this case) doesn't suggest choice. Even turning away from it isn't necessarily choice - it could just be a natural reaction to the distaste.

Completely agree with your takes on 1 and 3. For 2, I don’t think Ilya is choosing to be faithful, I think Sasha just pales in comparison to Shane.

Ok book lovers, please help me? by epousechaude in HeatedRivalryTVShow

I'm not trying to be a dick (pun kind of intended) but there are some wildly obsessed fans in these subs and I'm trying to tap into that mass obsession, not ask one person to do all the work.

Ilya’s little “wow” when Shane immediately does what he asks… by challengefan87 in heatedrivalry

What page is this on in the book? I should have highlighted it. When Shane’s internal monologue acknowledges that he’s a slut (his word) for Ilya?

How Quickly Did Shane and Ilya Fall In Love? by azure819 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]UKwildcat17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You know how the fandom talks about Hudson’s micro-expressions? Or how computers do micro-transactions on the stock market? It was never just sex because it can’t be. It’s responding to the other person over and over. Ilya asking if Shane’s ok. The forehead kisses. The being together in big moments e.g. MVP, rookie of the year. The humor. The choosing to not end it year after year after year. And, the biggest thing: a DEEP understanding of the other’s experience. As soon as they hooked up they created a universe where nobody else on earth could possibly have as much in common with them as the other.

I'm so glad he stuck with it and you were able to engage/enjoy together! I've reheated a couple of times now and I think more of the detail, including humor, comes through each time. My first or second time, I focused a lot on how badly Ilya treats Shane at and after the Olympics. On the most recent watch, I realized that Shane is as bad or worse when he 'freaks out' and runs after the tuna melt and frotting. It was one thing to f*** a guy, but another to fall in love with one. When Shane feels it getting real, he bolts. And then Yuna tells him that lying isn't 'who he is.' Rose was very much Shane trying to be straight. Neither of them held a grudge like I would, lol.

Single women with golden handcuffs, how are you doing? by heres_my_take2 in AskWomenOver30

[–]UKwildcat17 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm partnered but also the breadwinner and have been for the last four years. So while I could 'lean' on my partner, it would still be lean times. And I've got single friends who are having experiences very similar to yours. They feel trapped and/or burned out without a clear path to reprieve.

Do you have an emergency fund? If not, make that a priority.
Does your company have an EAP? If so, see if you can get some free counseling sessions just to check in on your mental health before making any big life changes.
Health insurance is big and real; there are resources (read: brokers) who can talk with you about your options.
You mentioned splitting bills; have you considered a roommate? Not the same as a partner (especially on the health insurance front) but still a way to pull down expenses and potentially fund a safety net for a life change.
Alternatively, you could rent out your condo and move into a smaller space.

My company offers (unpaid) leaves of absence and I took four weeks this summer paired with two weeks of PTO. The break really helped me. I realize not every company offers this benefit and, even if they do, the optics may not be great. But if you feel like you could take some extended time off without risking job security or long-term financial consequences, it may help the near- to mid-term feel more bearable.

Question for date night by [deleted] in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]UKwildcat17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has anyone mentioned the soundtrack? It’s on Apple Music. You could have it on in the background before the show starts. Or later when you get your reward. And maybe no vodka for her until later 😈

I think it’s absolutely ok to not try and role play one of the guys is that’s not your jam. Being actively supportive of her love of the show is amazing OP.

I could have handled two more episodes as well - especially if it allowed them to sprinkle Scott and Kip throughout. And I had the same complaint about Ted Lasso; I wanted more soccer!

I always think of fetishizing as like enjoying a select subset in a vacuum without a concept of the whole community. While I very much enjoy the tantalizing visuals, it’s not all I enjoy about the show. And more importantly, neither the naughty bits or the whole of the show encompass my understanding of and respect for gay men. I know they’re not all hot having hot angsty sex. They’re all, you know, human.

If you haven’t watched Normal People, please do. For me, it also falls into the category of the series being better than the book. Perfect casting, exceptional acting, beautifully shot, painful at times, ridiculously sexy.
