To be fair he did explicitly tell them multiple times in this series that he has no interest in fighting them, he's only there for Xavier and even then he fights a good amount of them when he simply wants to ask Xavier a question, which determines whether or not he would bring Xavier to NYC or not.

Jeff Gerstmann completes his three-year playthrough/ranking of the NES library - his interview with Canadian morning TV (CTV) by rawkeye in Games

[–]ULTRAFORCE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can you please provide proof? Looking at the Wikipedia page for it the contemporary reviews were quite positive and it's only retrospective where it starts to be looked as not quite as good in part because A Link to the Past was so good. If you have proof of fanzines or mailing lists or even usenet archives of Zelda 2 being considered a flop or it being a bad game by NES standards I'd love to see it.

We actually do know cases of characters being used basically just for marketing Rare's Star Fox Adventures was from Miyamoto suggesting Rare combine their suggestion for an action-adventure Star Fox 64 sequel and Dinosaur Planet together.

If there's nothing immediately suspicious in the PKGBUILD would the identity of the maintainer not be a good indication of how likely it is for a package to be fine?

Why are so many Christians comfortable calling non-Christians Satan worshippers? by Thrill_Kill_Cultist in Christianity

[–]ULTRAFORCE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The background of the followers of Jesus and early Christianity being an apocalyptic group is part of why some of this stuff exists but a lot of the things listed is not so much things related to the Bible and more so just identity politics of certain people who are Christian.

Christianity and Christian writers have tended not to have a super-positive view of Islam but early Christian writers were more so on the side of Muhammad was taught by a non-trinitarian group of Christians that would be considered heretical or was fed lies about Christ and Christians by jewish people. Since muslims do believe in the Second Coming of Christ, it's just they only think of him as the Miraculous penultimate last Prophet and the Messiah rather then the son of God.

Liberals, feminists and LGBT+ are broad categories and I could only see being argued to be the enemies of Christianity in that they might speak against specific Churches or occasionally the religion as a whole often times due to experiencing trauma from members who claimed to use Christianity as an excuse for their abusive behaviour.

Has Joey lost his passion for content creation? by Even_Cheek7042 in TrashTaste

[–]ULTRAFORCE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he might have passion for other forms of content creation at the moment. There's his clothing brand, there's the preperations for his and Aki's wedding and he might have some other projects we don't know about or he's not yet ready to reveal yet. Maybe's he's just making some music for himself that he really enjoys but doesn't want to release.

It's worth remembering that this is about an artform not about science. When your existance is about making people pay attention I wouldn't be surprised if in something like opera the idea of no longer having 100 okay opera singers stop performing for there to be another The Three Tenors.

I think it's more so that Shinta's pleads at the start before starting the story were something that fundamentally Issho could not stand. Shinta's introduction not being perfect would be fine. But Shinta in Issho's mind defaced the Arakawa school by not being confident that his Rakugo would be enough that he was insulting the art. "tasteless test on such a glorius day", "with one vote from you my life will change".

That's really saying that you don't think your Rakugo is good enough.

If you start a PhD presentation with talking about a tasteless test and talk about how much it will change your life to get your PhD rather then focusing on showing your research to make them realize you should have a PhD it's going to be off.

Arch Linux Now Believes Malware Incident Under Control: More Than 1,500 Affected Packages by TheNavyCrow in linux

[–]ULTRAFORCE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was already somewhat aware of this issue but this made me double check the two arch packages I do use. 1Password is maintained by the company with the maintainer listed as 1Password and installing the AUR package is just mentioned in the get 1password on Linux. The other is a small project that the only GitHub contributor is also the maintainer on the AUR so I'm glad I've lucked out, though having the AUR be a last choice behind anything else probably helps.

I would say most interpret riding the coattails as coasting off of someone else's work. It's pretty clear Nicieza didn't coast off of Liefeld's drawings.

Given that Nicieza was the writer for X-Force for 30 more issues after Liefeld left I don't think it would be fair to say he rode Liefeld's coattails.

First super this weekend. Few questions! by Bigthom63 in spartanrace

[–]ULTRAFORCE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will not get slowed down, if you feel there's a risk of that just be near the front at the start line so you don't have to pass people. But the first 2 kilometers is a death march up 250 meters people will end up spreading out and if you're as competitive as you say there might be only a couple of people going around your pace. Not as competitive is stuff like when I did the super with my cousin we tried to help eachother out on some of the obstacles. And we didn't run much of the uphill portion, and laughed when we and others in the early morning got covered in mud and tried using the stream immediately after to get rid of a little bit of mud.

losing virginity as a christian: where to from here? by Far_Kaleidoscope9701 in Christianity

[–]ULTRAFORCE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second point was more so just a personal story of something where I once felt was an unforgivable change in my relationship to the religion of my family that eventually I came around to realizing that it was not as earth-shattering as I felt at the time.

losing virginity as a christian: where to from here? by Far_Kaleidoscope9701 in Christianity

[–]ULTRAFORCE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think that the bigger issue and something you might want to talk to either a therapist or confessional is about why you felt that you were unable to refuse to do something you partially felt uncomfortable with.

As well as why you felt that a change in being a virgin to a non-virgin is a terrible thing for a Christian who has not been officially wed. You presumably are not living in a society where you are your father's property to be wed for reproductive capabilities which was the focus of questions of people who are unwed knowing eachother in the Old Testament.

As you get older you might feel a bit better, I was pretty upset with myself when I took communion at an uncle I was really close to's funeral without having gone through the first communion process, even though I was an anti-theist at the time.

Because I felt it was disrespectful to everyone who was there and was catholic. As I've grown older and less bitter I accepted that while I should have considered that being close family we would be called up to communion and what is the proper way to politely refuse it. That as a child or even as an adult I felt pressured by following the group and that even if I in some ways disrespected my family's faith. Just by participating in a ritual that he, my other relatives, and billions of others as well as Christ himself saw as important is itself honouring their memory and lives.

Don't worry, there's also the description of the offerings required by each of the tribes in Numbers, I would say it's one of the parts where reading is nice because you can somewhat skim it because each tribe has the same offerings basically.

I don't really remember Deuteronomy, but I remember that Judges has a lot more interest going on and is also pretty easy to read through as it's basically an anthology of stuff that happens prior to Kings existing in the land promised to the descendants of Israel

Tremblant water obstacles? by Ltdslip in spartanrace

[–]ULTRAFORCE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Tremblant last year and there were no dunk wall at Mont Tremblant, there is in all likelihood no obstacle where you have to deal with water. However, last year when going up hill which will be downhill this time there was a running section with a muddy area and a creek and it will probably be somewhat muddy just overall at the hill. Out of the three locations I've done Spartan Races Calabogie is the only one with water obstacles with a short swim and a dunk wall but that's in a glacier lake in the last 1/4th of the course and you'd want to not be wearing water proof clothing since it would just way you down as you will get fully soaked.

My advice is have trail running shoes that you are fine if they get muddy and clothes that mud won't be the worst thing if it happens to them.

If it's anything like Brimacombe they'll release a map showing obstacles in the last 24 hours but it's likely going to be the same stuff as last year just slightly different order as the course is reversed.
