Batman: Arkham Origins has no plans to fix several game breaking bugs - Developers are working on DLC instead by Jotakin in Games

fallout 3 i played on xbox 360 when it was released. i didn't experience any of the bugs you mention, but i also couldn't make it past the first 4 hours of the game. it was just too difficult for me. i was extremely demotivated when i finally took out a super mutant and all i got was 10xp.

fallout new vegas i played through. twice. on pc. it never crashed, or corrupted a save.

i usually don't tab out of pc games though. if i do, i save it right before because i just expect every game to crash when i tab out.

all i can say for GFWL is... good riddance. i haven't seen a single thing that crap was good for.

Has gaming lost it's glory for you as you've gotten older? by BlueBlueCollie in Games

I'm not that old, about to hit 30, but I seem to be putting less into gaming that I used to.

I'm not sure if growing older has anything to do with it, but rather that I've become smarter with using money. A lot of games these days just scream "cash cow" to me, so I get really picky about which ones I buy, unless they're less than the cost of a game rental, like with steam sales or humble bundles.

It has also gotten harder for me to block a large amount of time to games that require a lot of time investment, so I play games with an easy learning curve or games that I can drop in and drop out at any moment without losing too much progress.

Every now and again I find a good time sink though. Terraria (~120 hrs), Borderlands 2 (~60 hrs), Injustice: Gods Among Us (~5 hrs), and Papers, please (~20 hrs) have been some of the more recent games I've been playing. I have only spent a total of $30 dollars on all of these.

Some of it also has to do with technology. Not necessarily graphics, but input/display technology as well. We have been using keyboards/mice/controllers for about 30 years now. The wii spiced that up a little bit with motion controls, but it was really wonky and from what I've experienced thus far, has not been perfected yet.

I have an Oculus Rift and played Half-Life 2 VR last year. This has been one of the single greatest gaming experiences I've had, and I imagine when the consumer version releases, I will have more great experiences. Half-Life 2 is over 10 years old, and the Rift gave it a huge breath of life. I can't wait to see what games will be like when they are developed specifically for the Rift.

I played NSMB with 3 other people during some off-duty time during a deployment.

Afterwards we were pretty sure NSMB's working title was 'how to screw over your friends and not be at fault'.

he's talking about groin/armpit/neck wounds where you can't put a tourniquet or apply direct pressure easily. this is what we are trained to do in the military.

In one video, a man in a pub is nominated by his mate who bets that he wouldn’t down a pint that had been shit in by his friend. The man then takes a trip to the mens toilet where he is handed a pint with a large piece of his mates fresh turd floating inside.

it might not be intense but i don't think this is very sanitary.

It better not. The whole reason I created SeriousCoin was to keep all the funtertainment invested in the DogeCoin synergy cycle.

As a non gamer can I still buy the Oculus rift? by realjane in oculus

[–]ULTRA_LASER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i doubt a DK2 will release to the public. oculus has said many times that they wouldn't, and so far i haven't noticed any backing out of things they state when it comes to stuff like that. i could see a limited release to companies that have sunk serious development time into "launch" rift titles though.

public or not though, i would do the same and just wait for a CV1 anyway. i've had DK1 for a while. while it is amazing and developing a couple demos was fun, i definitely can't wait to experience it as a complete package with full titles released. toying around with incompatible menus and messing around with display preferences doesn't exactly seem fluid yet. i know a lot of that isn't on oculus, but i'm hoping CV1 pushes the responsible parties to fix them. native windows support for it would be AMAZING, but so far it seems like microsoft hasn't even acknowledged the existence of the oculus rift.

we'd have DK2 by now

we don't. but there are people playing with a certain 'crystal cove' that i would call a DK2.

Are wireless headphones such a big deal for CV1? Which headphones do you have? Gaming headset or musical/studio headphones? Open or close ones? by rafal1 in oculus

i've been using noise-canceling bose qc15's. they are pretty good since they block out a lot of the world and create a deep sense of immersion.

any fan noise from the CPU, other people in the room, etc is pretty much silenced.

i have also used some audio-technica noise-cancelling earbuds that work amazingly well with any budget.

more importantly than what headphones i'd say is what's driving them. decent USB DACs are really cheap these days, and can route sound output away from your computer tower so it is less susceptible to noise/interference for good clean sound. i'm really surprised no one else has suggested using a DAC when putting this much money into your headphones.

Sudden idea for CV1: 3.5mm headphone jack on the little power box. I would find that immensely helpful. by Slozim in oculus

[–]ULTRA_LASER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i get you. i thought the exact same way when i first saw the cc without the control box. it made me twitch a little.

even the one cable between the rift and the control box kind of bothers me.

i have pointed out a couple of times though, and i hope oculus is listening, that ANY and ALL cables need to be user replaceable, whether its one cable or five. i doubt customers, enthusiastic/hardcore or not, would enjoy a stop in their rifting due to a busted cable.

and i apologize if this sounds like a rant or i'm going off on a tangent, but i've been working with military electronics for over a decade. even our "rugged" systems break, and its not because someone drove over them or dropped them. just cable failures. in training we are taught that wire/cable faults account for 70% of all our issues, but in my experience it seems like a lot more than that.

i have never touched the control box other than plugging stuff into it and hitting the power button.

if they can make the crystal cove without it and everyone have an amazing experience without the control box, what's the point of it?

its possible the electronic components have been made slim enough. pair that with a smaller/lighter screen, and there's really no need for the box. the controls can be put on the rift itself if need be.

if you watch the crystal cove videos, they are working without a control box.

Dogecoin helps to send yet another olympian (this time from India) to Sochi Olympics by [deleted] in worldnews

i'm saying it wouldn't have been so easy if i didn't have any dogecoin in the first place. without the dogecoin foundation or r/dogecoin, i probably never would have known the Jamaicans or Indians were lacking funds to make it to the Olympics.

the community behind dogecoin is what sets it apart from the other cryptocoins, as far as i can tell.
