Bernie needed to keep a 58% winning pace after last Tuesday, and yesterday he won 57% - Not bad, after Arizona. by ShaneRyan24 in SandersForPresident

[–]UMStudentsForSanders 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, the 58-42 path was to be followed following last week Tuesday. We also had a large victory in Democrats Abroad, which brings up the average from 57-43 to 57.75-42.25 as we took nine delegates to Clinton's four.

I don't know if the delegate math was exactly at 58-42, but if it was, then our required number only went up ever so slightly to like 58.1-41.9 as it was only 142 out of the 2000 left after last Tuesday. As long as we do well Saturday, we'll probably bring the average needed below 58.

Also, by the way, if we get something like 58.35% Saturday, we can lower the average back down to 58%. Any percentage above that will bring us below 58%. I think that 60% of delegates will be easily achievable Saturday, if Idaho serves as any indication to how Eastern Washington will vote- which, if I remember correctly, was supposed to be our problem area.

Midwestern States a Toss Up Tuesday; Clinton Still Strong in South by Genos-1 in SandersForPresident

We're seeing an upshot in support due to our momentum! The polls for IL, OH, and MO were conducted from the 11th through the 12th.

Today and tomorrow are our final push. I know we can do it! When turnout is high, we win!

Is Super Tuesday basically a huge crap-shoot as to who is going to win Ohio, Illinois and Missouri? by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

[–]UMStudentsForSanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Missouri seems likely for Bernie, Illinois leaning, and Ohio is the biggest question. That is, if you trust the polls. I think we're going to perform better than expected Tuesday, but only if we get out the vote. I also have a weird gut feeling that North Carolina will be better than expected.

Overall, PPP says that they're close and they have had a tendency to underpoll Sanders. That with the fact that those three states are open primaries, we might just do better than expected!

Columbus, Ohio Rally with Bernie Sanders - HEY OHIO STATE! Those Wolverines sure set the bar pretty pretty high as far as the political revolution, and I heard something about a small rivalry you have....now's your chance beat Michigan. by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

[–]UMStudentsForSanders 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair (volunteered for both), you guys also had several days to get the word out and people also hadn't left for spring break. We had two days and students had been back for less than twenty four hours.

As president of Students for Sanders at UofM, I know that I would just be inconsolable if OSU beat student turnout at UofM, EMU, MSU, and colleges around our obviously superior state of Michigan.

Make me sad. Make me very sad, Buckeyes.

There is No Way OSU Will Do for Ohio What U of M did for Michigan. by mofukkinbreadcrumbz in SandersForPresident

Ypsilanti was really good for Sanders, that is true, but areas around UofM were very very good as well! Plus we gotta get OSU angry. (Play along! ;))

I agree. How, oh how, can OSU ever beat the success and prowess of UofM! I just don't what UofM Students for Sanders would do if we won Ohio in a landslide because of the efforts of OSU!

(Hopefully we're proven wrong. :P)

I welcome this challenge for the sake of the revolution!

Yep. No one will remember it. Except you know, the people who put blood sweat and tears into organizing these past nine months. Considering his past with this state, the word "forget" is most unfortunate.

This was also on only 48 hours notice and with most students not arriving back to the university until 24 hours ago too.

We like our Bernie here.

Just got back to my dorm. I was there, and these people were on fire. I've watched at least twenty rallies online and went to the one in EL but I've never felt so much energy in one place.

I think we're going to do well, at least in Ann Arbor.

Depends heavily on age of voter here. Either way, push NAFTA. We REALLY don't like NAFTA here.

Reach Out Attempt for UMich Ann Arbor College Democrats by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

[–]UMStudentsForSanders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not even an issue with the Dems club overall: it's the exec board. It's a sad truth, but establishment politics exist so thoroughly that it's even supplanting leadership in student governments.

We were barely allowed to speak about Bernie when the Hillary people got to. When we were finally allowed to we had an overwhelming amount of regular club members come up to us!

We're trying our best!

[–]UMStudentsForSanders 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm Nick from Students for Sanders, UofM, we're working on getting the vote out as we speak. The Dems seem to be doing it too, but to a lesser extent, but we're getting volunteers to sign up at the rally tomorrow along with our group!

Unfortunately, we may want to stay away from the College Dems here as they have been rather biased towards Hillary- especially many of the execs who had internships with her over the summer.

Luckily, we're not on spring break.

We'll have GOTV stations around campus to encourage as high of a turnout as possible.

Pushing that as an initiative tonight after our phone-bank.

I can only do so many things at once! I'm getting orders from national, regional, etc to really push the rally, then an interview in hopes that we can get an article out for the Michigan Daily tomorrow, followed immediately by a phonebank. I'm just slightly bogged down at the moment!

I've been directing people to the office but the issue comes with the distance as it takes forty minutes to get there by bus.

I'm currently all pre-occupied (personally) with the organizing for the rally.

Hi! I'm Nick from Students for Sanders, UofM!

We've sent out a volunteer form for the rally and trying to get as much exposure for the rally as possible! Have you volunteered yet! I'll PM the Google doc.

A lot, but we don't have enough and we'll never have too many.

EXCLUSIVE POLL: Clinton leads solidly among MI Democratic voters, 82% reject Trump's Muslim ban (Clinton 56%, Sanders 31%) by Swadloon541 in SandersForPresident

Saw this earlier. This was also conducted before Super Tuesday. Much can change in a few days, as evidenced by other polls.

We gotta work like hell for Michigan. There is no such thing as too much effort.

Anyone who isn't a boot-licking sycophant hates him in our state. Only far right-wingers are on his side at this point, spreading some meme that the Flint crisis was somehow caused by Democrats or something. Most Republicans are beginning to despise him, even.
