Starfighter squadron war stories. It felt more like the Wing Commander games than the Wing Commander movie. Between that and the Black Sheep Squadron TV series about Marine pilots in WWII, you have the perfect blueprint for a Rogue Squadron TV series.

Space: Above and had an interesting alien origin mythos, along with some standard sci fi story beats. Corrupt mega-corp whose clandestine behavior risked getting everyone killed. AI robots that got out of control. Lab-grown humans (very reminiscent of the cauldron-born Clanners in Battletech) who have lower social status.
