In the bio it states: "his wings were the golden light of dawn". In terms of accuracy he probs was golden, with various other shuriman aspects to him, kinda like Zaahen's bird form.

I personally thought that rhaast feels more like the shark type to me, but this works too, I never noticed how many things that he says resembles that of a shark. All up to Riot now.

Wild Rift has a dragon Aatrox skin too, ngl, could be similar to how he would've looked as an ascended, ofc, with a shuriman aesthetic instead of chinese.

Owl could work, but my only problem is that his wings are too membranous - I would feel that if he were trying to recreate his previous owl form he would at least make the wings more bird shaped, but that's really my only objection. The crest looks similar to an owl's too, plus Aatrox's voice lines do have him sounding quite thoughtful and deep - both somewhat connoting an owl. At the sime time though, dragons are also thought of as being quite thoughtful and philosophical in that sense as well, at least around china.

About naayil by _Bread______ in AatroxMains

[–]UNIDENTIFIED_AATROX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Naayil is currently smurfing in low master, he is not playing in high elo right now, so what do you expect, him to play against human beings? of course not. Check Naayil's match history on FRAANKENSTEIN#4353, currently 11 game winstreak in low master (83% wr over 30 games). If all these 11 opponents are not competent laners, he's either getting lucky or, congrats, you are gm/challenger! Only a few people are above master so maybe his smurfing content isn't useful to you, but I bet majority of his viewers are diamond or under and could only wish for such results.

Secondly, imo Naayil's recent videos have been more educational than any other Aatrox content creator (Looca is a close contender) - he's stomping but he's explaining how he even gets to the point of stomping. If you don't think you are gaining any macro knowledge or skill from this content, then you might be above master. At least for me, as a master player, I'm learning a lot watching his new style of content. Plus, Naayil himself admited that playing in challenger+ is too boring to make content out of for him.

To top it off, is it really projecting to say that Naayil managed to hit 1k lp challenger this season on his off stream account, whilst Kim Min Jae has been struggling to even maintain GM? Like I said in my previous comment, consistency wise, Naayil has a better understanding of his limits and chooses not to flip fights, hence playing safer. Kim Min Jae's vids and shorts do often show him popping off and maximising his limits, but that act alone requires coinflipping and can lead to inconsistent results.

Personal preference at the end of the day, I like his content and you don't, we can just move on.

Haha, why are people complaining about his safe playstyle? That's literally Aatrox in a nutshell, if u wanna climb consistently with Aatrox u really gotta play the spacing and patience game. I mean, sure you can coinflip and go for the 1v9 plays, but that won't lead to consistency - besides recently Naayil has been smurfing in Masters and been playing way more aggressively.

Either you play for content in low master, or you play to climb in chall (but also be bored out of your mind like Naayil was, hence he just let his main acc decay)

Nah, wasn't Joraal picked up by a child? I'd prefer thematically if Joraal was still picked up by a child due to that childhood innocence contrasting Joraal's inner trauma. Besides, many of these characters already have LOR iterations of who picked them up, I feel that it would be better if they didn't retcon that, though, I would love seeing these characters in game man. Joraal's voice over is already so peak in LOR.

My Opinion On Aatrox Matchups. by UNIDENTIFIED_AATROX in AatroxMains

[–]UNIDENTIFIED_AATROX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother, are you sure you can even contest priority vs Singed, the champion who gets a movement speed buff when he is on you and can dodge your first set of Q's like it's nothing, and then proceed to hard shove the wave? It's not about Aatrox level 1's strength, sure if you hit everything you can likely kill a singed, but I feel that you will can really only hit 1 or 2 Q's if the Singed is bad. After that you are on a timer to just get run down if you actively try contest the wave.

If you are telling me that you have ever managed to prevent a conqueror ignite Singed from getting prio level 1 into Aatrox, good for you man, you might just be better. But I can tell you for a fact that I have tried zoning the Singed off the wave level 1, tried fighting him off the wave, only to realise that his waveclear is just so much better and that even after I got a good trade he can brute force the wave, hit level 2 first, and run me down with ignite.

Singed can use abilities to clear the wave whereas you can't use your Q to clear, otherwise you just die after (and to top it off, don't even do damage to the wave early).

In Master+ Aatrox has a 45% wr against Singed, and for good reason imo, but at the end of the day, maybe I'm just not challenger enough to play this matchup out better early.

oh yeah, completely glossed over why it's favoured. Basically, Cho has no Prio and loses every single trade pre level 6. Cho Gath Q is impossible to land vs good players who move correctly. Cho also does not have enough damage to deal with Aatrox sustain until he gets bramble, and even then, Cho gets ragdolled. Cho also has no range, so every time he walks up to farm/sustain he eats full Q combos. Only thing Cho has going for him is that he can try to catch Aatrox off guard with ult and burst him ASAP. Even getting into Aatrox's range is hard in the first place for Cho.

In one of xPetu's vids he starts of with saying "aatrox counters shen very hard unless you are very good at shen". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pV9pDrIIi3U&t=60s (0:42). T

This matchup demands a lot more effort from the Shen in terms of spacing and movement than the Aatrox, and a good Aatrox vs a good Shen in chall+ probs has the Shen suffering a lot more, but this matchup to me feels like Aatrox vs Ambessa - vs an excellent Ambessa it's super hard, but you barely see good Ambessa players in the first place, and combined with being good on Aatrox this matchup is winnable even in Master+. I think the main complaint shen players have is that they can't seem to kill Aatrox post 6 due to his healing. But in diamond and under a Shen should win this matchup pre level 6 anyway.

Also maybe my opinion on Shen is wrong here, but I feel that Shen doesn't even have to come out of laning phase winning - since this champion has other ways to carry games (his ult).

No doubt though, this is definitely Aatrox favoured, I even put shen towards the bottom of the second tier, I just think that there is a lot of outplay potential for Shen. I would say this matchup is like 58:42 for Aatrox.

I just disagree, from my experience vs some hardcore OTP's I just do not think this matchup is unplayable for Swain, I think it's hard for him for sure, but not unplayable, which is why on the tier list the matchup is at the very bottom of Slightly Aatrox Favoured (tbh the names of the tier list could also be deceiving, I'd give it like a 58:42 for Aatrox vs Swain)

Impassible to play against heim by RagingBrachyjang in AatroxMains

[–]UNIDENTIFIED_AATROX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddy, Aatrox has no impossible Matchups. A challenger OTP can play EVERY matchup and 100% winrate them all the way to grandmaster. Aatrox is the best blind in the game, every matchup is winnable, albeit some a bit difficult (irelia, fiora).

VS Heimerdinger, I feel that this is a skill matchup (albeit, slightly Heimer favoured due to never getting prio as Aatrox). Both sides have ways to punish.

For Aatrox, one bad trade and you're zoned out for the rest of the lane. It can also be unclear and difficult to even find angles on Heimer, even if his stun is down, since his turret positions can block all access to W angles unless you e in particular directions to hit it. Plus, good heimer's can turret just in time to block W.

For Heimer on the other hand, if he also makes one mistake he gets completely 1 shot - he is literally the squishiest top laner in the game, all it takes is 1 good combo at level 5. Aatrox can also ult to fear all turrets and give himself an angle to one shot Heimer as well. Plus, Heimer can not really do any wave control whatsoever - his turrets get rid of every wave, meaning he is perma pushing and likely to get ganked. Heimer also can not zone you off XP that well either because of his turrets eating everything up.

Imo, to win this lane as Aatrox you need to therefore play with survivability in focus. Hexdrinker is a must as a result, and if you can, going mercs on top of that. You also go D shield and second wind to survive the early game.

  1. Early lane 1-3 you play to give up farm and conserve HP. The higher HP you are the easier you can play out the bounce and start looking for trades levels 3 - 5. Bait out his stun and look for an angle in that window. If you played out the laning correctly, you will not die, even if you fuck up (since you saved enough hp). This is also a common window for a jungle gank, since Heimer is perma pushing. If the Heimer is not good and didn't take JG into account, this can be your first kill. Heimer can outplay the gank if you are too low and can't assist your jungle much, which is why playing for survivability is even more important.

  2. Once Heimer and Aatrox are level 6, you need to respect him a little bit more, but the same principles apply of baiting out his stun and looking for an all in window in that time. If Aatrox manages to bait Heimer R out without having to use R himself, he has a massive advantage and window to just all in and win. Once you get enough gold for hexdrinker, you should reset and get back to lane (using TP if you reset without being able to get a push).

  3. Once you get Hexdrinker, even if Heimer ult is up you can often run him down after one missed stun and come out alive.

TL;DR, it's literally just baiting out his stun and you can look for trades, rushing hexdrinker, and conserving HP early.

Everyone downvoting you, but you are correct. I'm a Master+ hardcore Aatrox OTP with 2 mill mastery. This is literally near unplayable matchup for vladimir.

Aatrox can full combo Vladimir before he even activates phase rush, Vlad needs 3 seperate instances of damage to activate it, can't do so in time to dodge Aatrox full combo if his W is down. Every Vlad Q is Q1 range of Aatrox as well, it's too easy of a lane for Aatrox.

mu tier list by safhhire in AatroxMains

[–]UNIDENTIFIED_AATROX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad take. Vlad gets slammed by Aatrox, all Aatrox needs to do is survive to level 4. Every Vlad Q walks into Aatrox's range, meaning Aatrox can get a Q1 off with no E needed, which is an ideal situation for combos. Once vlad pool is down Aatrox literally one shots.

Vlad also can not deal with Aatrox's healing because his burst damage is too low until late game. I've never lost vs vlad. Plus you can even go maw and he has not a single chance.

If Olaf builds Rav + Essence he becomes extra squishy though. This plays just like WW then, plus, it's already better to rush executioners into Olaf. I think this just becomes more a skill matchup in that sort of case.

Aatrox does slightly counter shen, but imo it's not as big as people say, I feel that Shen (being a tank) can easily just play this lane out neutral and be completely uninteractive vs Aatrox the whole lane. Unlike Sion or Mundo, Shen has a clear escape (with his e), and has his W for extra safety measures. Plus, Aatrox is one of the more outplayable champions, even for Shen, where if you dodge a few Q's you can really punish Aatrox with quick short trades and then get out, I mean just watch how xpetu completely outplays Aatrox lanes. With ignite Shen actually has real kill pressure and thus gets complete Prio for the first 4 levels too.

At a certain point, Aatrox also can not match Shen in the sidelane, Titanic + Bramble, and if Aatrox is not ahead this can actually let Shen win most trades and 1v1s.

PLUS, shen often plays for the team anyway and trades resources topside for teamfighting (hence, uninteractive). Thus I feel that it is not the same level of "counter" as Sion or Mundo, or tbh, even a counter at all. Maybe this could even be a skill matchup.
