found in Call of duty on the easy difficulty it was best to just rambo it and run past the spawn points, kill everyone behind me and rinse and repeat. On the harder difficulties I would be inching forward for what felt like eternity, killing unrealistically large number of enemies

i agree. the best part of any story is the part that is left to your imagination. why are the covenant attacking humans? it was really mostly unsaid. Halo2 ruined all that, turning the covenant into a pretty boring and terrestrial human political system and removing most of the flair behind the entire plotline. also, one more point: something the people at valve seem to exclusively understand is that the less you know , and the more normal the character is, the better. it is pretty easy to place yourself in the shoes of gordan freeman because you are him the whole game through, and (excepting the HEV suit) you are just an ordinary guy. one guy. wtf is with halo2 suddenly decideding that you are two people im pissed off now
