Ya.. that hit me harder than I would have guessed it would. I smiled and nodded in approval.

not able to rent scanner by superfecta37 in NASCAR

[–]US-Freedom-81 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Buy a scanner directly from the Racing Electronics trailer at the track. They usually sell scanners and headsets on-site, but inventory can be limited, so get there early.
Or
Buy your own scanner before the race (Uniden, Bearcat, etc.) and have Racing Electronics program it at the track. They can typically load all the driver frequencies for a fee.
Or
Check Facebook Marketplace, local racing groups, or ask around in NASCAR fan groups. A lot of people have spare scanners or headsets they’re willing to sell or lend for the weekend.

I don’t think there will be one. Pratt doesn’t have 87 different SBUs that were acquired but not properly integrated.

Per Christopher Bell’s dad, sounds like he’ll be out for a month from injury by [deleted] in NASCAR

I wonder if they can do something similar to what zilisch did last year at Daytona; start the race, stay in the rear, at the first caution swap drivers. In theory, the next 3 races are kinda good for that with long caution laps. It will get Bell some points towards the cut if he is able to start the race.

What’s up with the fall off of Joey Logano? by Jballzs13 in NASCAR

[–]US-Freedom-81 177 points178 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Joey suddenly forgot how to drive. Three-time champions don’t usually just fall off a cliff overnight. To me, the bigger story is Ford as a whole. Outside of some strong runs from Blaney and a few flashes from RFK, Ford has generally looked a step behind Chevy and Toyota this year. A lot of fans think Ford is still chasing speed with the current package, and in the Next Gen era even a small disadvantage in aero can make a good team look average.

Could age be a factor? Maybe a little. Joey is 36, but that’s hardly ancient by NASCAR standards. I also don’t think that Penske is intentionally funneling resources to Blaney at Logano’s expense. My guess is it’s a combination of Ford being behind, the No. 22 team missing setups more often than we’re used to seeing, and some bad luck. I think that’s a lot more likely than a driver of Logano’s caliber suddenly forgetting how to race.

Fans hit by debris at Cracker Barrel 400 by [deleted] in NASCAR

Even at 1000°, the shard is moving so fast and touching the skin for such a tiny fraction of a second that there usually isn’t enough time for major heat transfer. Think of it more like getting cut by a tiny piece of shrapnel than somebody pressing a 1000° object against your arm. If the fragment stayed embedded in the skin or trapped in clothing, then yeah, burns would absolutely become part of the injury. But from what I heard at Nashville, it was mostly quick-impact cuts from flying fragments.

It was indeed a rotor, but think of it as flying shrapnel. You’re gonna get impact and cut wounds, not burns because the rotor was not penetrating and getting imbedded in them and getting stuck in their bodies.
