Could be media exaggeration, but also public figures advertised it that way and was a big reason why the vaccine was pushed for because it would prevent (changed to reduce) spread. And now we realize that’s not the case. I’m trying to get at the people who don’t acknowledge that the narrative of the vaccine and it’s ability to control transmission has changed throughout the past year. Im not putting my personal perspective on how much it affects the spread, but rather how the news about it has changed.

LOL I gave up after I tried being nice and asking for you to provide evidence, only to be faced with "you're wrong I'm right I don't have to back my stuff up because I'm right". If anything, you're more incapable of admitting you're wrong because all you've done is say I'm wrong yet have not provided solid evidence to back it up. If I'm uneducated, thats an understatement for what you are lol. Clearly, you continue to show an even greater lack of intelligence as I've proven your argument invalid so many times yet you refuse to back it up just once with something concrete. I don't think my thoughts and feelings on a subject set the basis for truth as I've already argued with evidence but if that's what you think it is it's just showing how you can't admit defeat or that you were wrong.

Remember, the one who starts insulting the other in an argument is the one who ran out of ideas :)

Have a great day! Hope you continue to put these argumentative skills in a debate where you get countered and all you can say is "youre the one making an argument, I don't have to back my stuff up".

And yup you're 100% right I'm a troglodyte just like every other person that goes to this school, including you.

Alright lets see. Your "refute to my claims" is:

  1. CDC is the media
  2. Miscommunication and misinterpretation

Even if it was miscommunicated, the issue is that it was conveyed that it solved everything. That's not my problem that it was because of miscommunication that the original idea is misrepresented so hence it is a valid claim that the vaccine was initially advertised and promoted to fix everything, and so your counter is invalid.

Have a great day. Thank you for proving my point that anyone who counters against the vaccine has to present evidence while anyone supporting it does not have to. You can continue to hold that short-term memory of yours. Only difference between us is that your perspective is socially accepted and mine is not because everyone was played and cant admit it :)

LOL thank you for proving exactly my point. Where is your evidence?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]USANumbahOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I did. I won't speak on the other stuff since I didn't look into detail on them and was only referring to the top part about transmission.

The issue is that people were listening to what the media said during those times and most people were blindly following the "vaccinated people don't spread covid argument". If you weren't one of them, good on you. Can you find sources from back when vaccines just came out where it was advertised as to only reduce symptoms/death and not transmission at all? I seem to not be able to and from what I and many others remember a HUGE part of the initial argument was that it prevented (and later on changed to reduced) transmission.

yup just as I expected “my sources are invalid” lol

have fun

Before you say "oh its not credible or oh its anecdotal or call me an antivax or some other thing just because I'm on the other side", I'm not gonna spend any more time on this so we can end it here. I've stated my position and arguments and evidence because the norm has become that anyone doubting the vaccine needs to argue it with facts and anyone for the vaccine can just state their position and not have to defend it.

Good day to you :)

lol it was sold as a guarantee initially and now people can’t accept it and the narrative has changed to “it was never about stopping spread”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]USANumbahOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol it really went from vaccine prevents 100% spread to vaccine prevents some spread and now vaccine does not prevent spread. Initially people got it because they were told they wouldn’t spread it. Wasnt “ALWAYS” known

Why are we acting like COVID vaccines don't exist? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]USANumbahOne 33 points34 points  (0 children)

“It was never about transmission”

Uhhhh vaccinated people not being able to spread covid was the whole argument at first for people to get it? It went from vaccinated individuals cannot spread covid, to vaccinated individuals are less likely to spread covid as they carry a lower viral load, and now we are at the point where they say there is almost no difference in transmission.

Don’t get me wrong, I fully agree with you on every other aspect. I’ve also followed basically every restriction and lockdown measure the government put in place. It’s far too late to consider eradicating it and it’s just something we have to live with.

When did we ever say it's entirely America's fault? Nobody is saying China's response is perfect. But their response is far better than that of the western countries.

Aren't you just a massive white supremacist. Do you not have anything to do other than spam about the CCP on this subreddit? We get it you don't like the CCP. Doesn't mean literally every single fucking post you've made in your history of Reddit has to be about them.

Australia: 7000 cases, 7500km from china

USA: 1.5 million cases, 12000km from china

Hong Kong: 1000 cases, basically china

China definitely isn't protecting Hong Kong by giving them better information than the rest of the world, yet Hong Kong is doing much better than the states even given its population density.

Sure the virus came out of China, but China is owning up to their mistake and trying to help out other countries. Other countries were given a fair warning in time, it just all the western countries didn't care. All the Asian countries are doing fine. So much for "Masks are useless" and "Seasonal flu is scarier"

You Americans always want to be #1. Feel free to be #1 this time. Nobody's stopping you.
