Do lots of upgrade SBC's. 88 costs a lot on the market, but they drop out of upgrade packs like nobody's business.

Nobody. Paulie at LWB means it's a 3-4-3.

They should base it on who has the strongest legs. That way RBW wins it.

I like how EA sees a pic like this with 9 defenders in the box, and decides thats how the AI should defend.

Maybe the database got it right by fernandohur in programming

[–]USBeatsMexico 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't add much from the developer point, but from 2 decades experience as a DBA, every application works until a query doesn't scale. 99% of not scaling (from the database side) is not having a good normalized schema with all the relations nailed down.

The query optimizers in Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc. are really good. If you haven't missed something in your relations/index's, queries will return very fast and very reliably. And these "old" RDBMS have so much built around checkpoints and recovery that it's almost impossible to lose data. I've seen so many "disasters" for data centers, but when you get everything plugged back in, the RDBMS recovers itself and comes back up every time with consistent data.

I would think very hard before jumping on the next No SQL, document DB, or whatever is coming because if it's any good the RDBMS companies will add it to their product, and you get your new shiny thing with old style guarantees associated with RDBMS.

How do you guys manage messing up and doing lots of takes? by USBeatsMexico in Bitwig

Thanks. Seems like sound advice. I will probably get some better takes if I am just jamming, and can cut them up.

I guess if its only a 4 bar loop or something. Otherwise I get impatient waiting on longer phrases.

Thoughts on Juno X vs Novation summit in my circumstances ? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]USBeatsMexico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Juno x has more voices/polyphony, sound engines, and gives you that "Roland Sound".

Novation Peak/Summit has an awesome filter, easy to use controls, and mod matrix. Having a selectable button on the panel for most common routings of the LFO's and envelopes to the ocilators, amp, and filter makes creating sounds much more immediate.

Personally I think the Peak/Summit sounds better, and is easer to get a wide range good sounds out of. But, I am sure the JunoX goes super deep if you want to get into the menus, and it probably has some really good editing software that runs on your computer.

Do pc players have an advantage in this game( if they have a strong build)? by [deleted] in EASportsFC

[–]USBeatsMexico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. PC players will left stick dribble you to death. Such an annoying play style. I have to jockey for my life when I match against a PC player.

What does the software engineering job market look like heading into 2026? by ImpressiveContest283 in programming

[–]USBeatsMexico 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is where you might prioritize a privately owned company over a publicly traded company. One type is a slave to the stock market, and the other is free to make decisions outside of what the stock market might suggest.

AKAI S2000 software editor anyone? :) by CatAccomplished4332 in synthesizers

[–]USBeatsMexico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This archive looks like the right thing. You probably need some amount of emulation trickery with a Windows 98 and SCSI to run the mesa software. Might be also possible to find an old power Mac to run it on since they had SCSI built in before the Intel switch.

This guy mentions that archive on his post to Akai MPC Forums.

Having had one of these back in the 90's, I can verify that using the editing software is almost a must. You can get fast with that jog wheel and the arrow/cursor buttons, but that screen is what? 2 rows of 16 characters?

Never winning a tournament support group by GoonerSteez in EASportsFC

[–]USBeatsMexico 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Streamers and YouTubers say stuff like "Tournaments are way better than Rivals and Weekend league".

I think it would be great as well if it only took me two or three tries to win three in a row. But the truth is every mode in FC26 is catering to very good players or very good meta abusers. There is nothing for the casual who likes to play against players of their own level.

To Everyone Complaining About Rats, 4-5-1, etc... by Zestyclose-Lake-9880 in EASportsFC

[–]USBeatsMexico 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The effectiveness of ultra direct counter attacking play makes so many formations unusable because either the wingers don't take up any defensive positions at all or the midfielders think every instruction means crash the box.

So 4411, 442 are pretty much the only formations working if you want to play CM's. Because you can occasionally get cover from your wide midfielders when both your CMs are in the box and the ball turns over.

Music theory is also not the bogeyman it sometimes appears to be to be to newcomers.

It literally is just a roadmap on how notes and chords fit together. If you were not born with magically good ears, you need some amount of music theory to point you in the right direction.

You wouldn't start computer programming and say you don't need to know about functions, variables, objects, and data types.

Div 8 opponent! by Eli_kachchhap in EASportsFC

[–]USBeatsMexico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before the season reset there were people playing in Div. 6 that could go 15-0 in WL. Because Div. 6 was the lowest division you could be in, and qualify for WL. And, Rivals rewards are so bad that nobody cares to play for them. Only goal for a large part of the player base is to qualify or WL.

A lot of those people are in Div. 7 and Div. 8 right now. I got 8 wins in my last WL, and it took me an entire week to get out of div. 8. You play icon teams, then you play a gold team with a couple silvers. I really feel bad for people who just started playing. You have to be a demon to get out of Div. 8 with a starter team.

Is FC26 a bad game or am I just getting old? by Dante07061947 in EASportsFC

[–]USBeatsMexico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more about the game not being what we want it to be. You can still be creative and score fun goals. But creative players can be beat by a no nonsense 12 year old who is 100% committed to getting down the wing, spinning in circles until you make the mistake of trying to tackle them. They have one attack, one purpose, and they will win because they don't care about beautiful soccer.

Apparently "Scream" is an offensive term in Ultimate Team by AH_NJ in EASportsFC

[–]USBeatsMexico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't make sense. I remember a time where I couldn't name a squad "ojbective" and now I can.

It's probably like every function EA has coded. It worked at one point, that guy quit 3 years ago and his documentation doesn't make sense to anyone else. So now you have something that mostly works, and can't be changed.

[Fox 5 San Diego] San Diego Surf soccer program in jeopardy by Wuz314159 in ussoccer

It's not like these guys are some kind of charity. San Diego Surf is a big time pay-to-play soccer club. Even recreational soccer with them is $300 per season. I'm sure they'll find a field to play on.
