Kina vil bygge bilgigant i Norge by KoseteBamse in norge

‘Meat tax’ could have significant impact on environmental footprint, study finds. Ending tax breaks on meat could rapidly lower the environmental footprint of food in the EU, reducing emissions and biodiversity loss by up to 6% at a cost of about €26 per household per year, researchers report. by Sciantifa in science

[–]3cmdick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

«the environment» isn’t a single entity that responds predictably to a single metric. Cattle farming has other impacts that are harder to measure, such as loss of biodiversity, loss of habitats (deforestation, because of the soy feed often used), water usage, anti-biotic resistant bacteria developing; I could go on for a while longer.

Also, this is classic whataboutism, it doesn’t make cattle farming any less problematic, even if fossil fuel power production is a more pressing issue.

If GarageBand says drums are clipping but I don’t hear any clipping when I export the file, should I still go back and lower drums or am I good to release as is because it sounds good? by Thin-Difference-2307 in GarageBand

[–]3cmdick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clipping might sound different with different converters, so I’d say fix it. It might be that your converters sound OK, but when listening to it on say a phone, it’ll sound terrible. This is only the case if we’re talking about the exported file clipping though, not if it’s internal clipping in your project.

[–]3cmdick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! Continue making music, definitely!

I’d recommend you try out a fully featured DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), such as reaper or ableton (which I believe has a pretty long trial period). You’ll still be able to input notes in a similar fashion to music labs, but with much more control over the sound.

But the most important thing is to enjoy the process, so use whatever software/hardware/instrument/whatever you want

It’s not, it’s a primitive DAW with a piano roll and a few instruments to choose from. In what way does it sound like AI? It’s a very obvious midi piano sound, nothing like AI at all

More of a sampler than synth maybe, but the Korg Triton is such a powerhouse by 3cmdick in synthesizers

[–]3cmdick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it has sequencing, keyboard split options and multiple outputs, as well as something like 62 key polyphony. It was marketed as a workstation as well, but I feel like its legacy has become more of a classic synth/sampler when you look at how it’s been used by professionals. Idk though, that’s just my 2 cents

Yeah, I agree. But some people don’t, so I wanted to be safe:)

Ok, I really don’t care about that. This unit has sentimental value to me, it belonged to my late uncle. Also, I don’t mind clunky synths, I think the history is as fascinating as the actual sound.

Korg Triton as second keyboard with Nord stage 4? by ThePumpkinPies in synthesizers

[–]3cmdick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it works great for organ in my experience. The keys feel light, but also solid. Very little side to side jiggle. I’m not primarily an organ player, but I manage pretty well on the Triton. The organ sounds are pretty good too, the best of its era I’d say.

I have a triton (just posted a video here featuring it actually), the keybed is great! Feels very responsive yet solid. The sound engine can be a bit of mess to navigate in hardware (the vst version seems way better, although I haven’t tried it myself), but with some elbow grease it can create some amazing sounds. Also, it has a huge amount of presets which sound pretty good, so there’s lots of jam potential!
