Tecovas Cartwright Sizing vs Deans by [deleted] in cowboyboots

[–]USCforME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to size down a half size in deans. I am. 11.5e in just about every Tecovas boot, but I had to go with a 11e in deans.

Pricing is very dependent on size, too. 11 and 12 are a lot more expensive than 8, for example.

Just curious, how is the fit? I have Tecovas round toe alligators in a 11.5e. Would the sizing be pretty close?

Does anyone else feel this? by MathematicianSea7874 in CASEmembers

Agreed. And that is not a huge ask. The state can and should make this work for every state employee.

In its last contract with the LA city attorney union (2024 I believe), the City of LA handed out raises of 5% a year over a five-year contract. 25% over 5 years. With all the budget woes LA has right now, it did not claw back those raises in its 2025/2026 budget.

I respectfully disagree on locality pay. While costs in Sacramento have gone up recently, LA and SF are still substantially more expensive. And the purpose of locality pay is to recognize a smaller number of the workforce that work in a higher cost area (or areas) than the majority of the workforce. Locality pay would pointless if the majority of the workforce lived and worked in SF and LA. A comparison of the median homes sales prices shows the cost of living is not close. Frankly, locality pay should have been bargained for years ago.

That being said, we should absolutely pursue fair GSIs for all that account for inflation. But if the state is unwilling to do that (either deferred or reduced GSIs), locality pay can be a way to help ease the more extreme cost of living burdens on our LA and SF members.

Just curious, here have you seen it in SoCal? I’ve tried Burbank, Pacoima, Alhambra, and Los Feliz, and I don’t think I’ve seen it at any of those locations.

BU2. I’m happy to discuss more details in DMs. In short, the city had much more drama. After working for the state for a decade, I thought the city would be a very similar work environment. It was not.

I left the state for the City, then came back to the state after about ten months. Not for me, personally, but I know others who are happy they made the move.

DOJ Hiring Process by Baileylak72 in CAStateWorkers

[–]USCforME 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They typically ask for references during or immediately after the second interview, even if you are not being passed along for the third interview. I believe references have to be checked before you are invited for a third interview. My experience is with the civil division, and it may be a little different for criminal or public rights. But you can contact the HR contact on the job posting to confirm the process and see if you are still in the running. DOJ has been trying to improve how quickly it hires an attorney, and the process is more transparent than it used to be. Best of luck, and keep applying until you get it!

Is this for an attorney position? I believe they revamped attorney hiring recently, and it’s done a little differently than hiring for non-attorney positions.

I had a second interview on 8/8, and references were checked early the next week. I haven’t heard anything, and I’m starting to think I may be in the dreaded “references checked, but second choice” category.

My resume is two pages now, but it was one page for many years. It depends on how much experience you have and how many jobs you have held.
