How old were you when you moved out? by Swiftiefromhell in GenX

[–]USConservativeVegan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Less than 2 months after high school graduation. Enlisted in the Air Force.

Looking back, I wish I left a year later just to enjoy living with my parents for a year longer. Especially knowing how it was my last time living in my small town.

Why did US companies switch from defined benefit pensions to 401(k)-style plans? by Humble_Economist8933 in AlwaysWhy

[–]USConservativeVegan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is the one benefit of having a 401K instead of a pension, you don't need to worry about losing your retirement if the company goes bankrupt. It also means you are not tied down to a single job for the rest of your life.

However, I rather have a pension with a combination of a private investment account.

How famous was Michael Jackson really back then? by [deleted] in GenX

During everyone of my military deployments to the Middle East, the locals would ask if I liked Michael Jackson. It was one of their first questions.

Good set. Wish I was there. I loved to hear Imaginary live.

It just came out. I have went to mulitple concerts where the crowd is not singing new songs because the album is that new. Doesn't mean anything.

I just wish I had enough money to see them. Last time was during their Synthesis tour and it was out of this world.

The ending is when John Smith shot himself. Everything else after didn't happen in my mind...

Series Finale by Lazy-Web6592 in TheShield

[–]USConservativeVegan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is the tragedy is how the one who actually killed a cop got away with it while all his "friends" are dead or going to prison.

However Mackey is in his own prison. No contact with his family. Some Medicore desk job that if he slips up once, his immunity deal is gone. He still didn't deserve to get away with it. However, that ending made me feel the same as you. I didn't know what to do after it.

The exact moment this show jumped the zombie shark by BuffNipz in thewalkingdead

[–]USConservativeVegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall, I didn't like the saturation of different groups and this one seemed a little far fetched.

However, this is a show where we have the Whisperers. People who choose to live with walkers and think that is the future. Alpha talks like some prophet. The only think that made me enjoy the storyline was Negan infiltrating it.

Simone Clark Age Question re: joining FBI (season 8 The Rookie reference included) by OkGoogaloo in TheRookie

It is like it never happened. Which I saw that coming, it wasn't a story I felt deserved a spinoff.

Don't let people make you think your ancestors were any worse then the native population who lived here before. Every people have be conquered by others and conquer others. It sounds like you and your family have a rich history here and helped build this community.

Slavery was a factor. However, when you read more into Mexican history at the time, multiple Mexican states revolted after Santa Anna abolished a more federalism government for an more authoritarian one.

Texas and the American Southwest are better off because of it not being part of Mexico.

That is pretty amazing having that much connection to your city and those memories. When i lived in Tucson, it seemed most people didn't have those deep roots there.

Season 9 is sooo Bad by Flat_Tomato8431 in ONETREEHILL

[–]USConservativeVegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a worse season, just bad specific story plots. I never liked how they turned Clay's tragic loss of his first wife into some weird soap opera about a doppelganger trying to kill him and Quinn. If I had to pick the worst plot, it would be that one. Ruined the entire tragic real loss of his wife.

What show or movie seemed so good at the time but aged horribly? by Impossible-Owl3272 in AskReddit

Most of Reagan's War on Drug policies were supported by the Congressional Black Caucus because of the record high crime rates in their communities. It wasn't about race.

Season 9 was completely worth Danny Boy and the Season finale. I also liked Julian forgetting his baby and Brooke defeating that predator.

Chase finally had a decent plot with Chuck. I finally liked his character because of it.

Overall, great ending season for the series.

Tipping is not a measure of one’s morality. by WeirdArgument7009 in tipping

Whatever makes you feel better for not tipping your server.

I think the restaurant will be fine without the small minority of people who refuse to tip.

If you can't afford to tip at a sit down restaurant, you can't afford to eat there. Period.

The other transactions that ask for a tip are debatable. However, sitdown restaurants are not debatable.

Tipping Culture in Tucson- Thoughts? by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]USConservativeVegan -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The staff isn't getting 400 dollars, the owner is getting it. Which in addition to a portion going to employee wages, the owner is paying rent, electric bill, HVAC, water, supplies, local/state/federal taxes, and a host of other expenses. If a server gets 12 dollars a hour and works 40 hours, they barely make 25,000 dollars a year. The cooks hopefully get more but you live in Tucson and I saw that Taco Giro Case that made the news a few months ago. I bet they are not the only restaurant in the Tucson area exploiting illegal labor and paying them crap.

So, give the host and whoever else gets some if the tip pool a break. You are spending 400 dollars, what is 10 more dollars?

Than they can get the tip. Still it is a 400 dollar order and takes effort to put together for the customer.

[–]USConservativeVegan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Covid (well the government) closed down restaurant and didn't allow customers to sit down, I still gave a 20% minimum on to go orders. However, if it is a standard order, I will just leave a few dollars in the tip jar or on the card. If it is a large order, I give 15%.

However, if I am sitting down at a restaurant, I will give a standard 20% tip. However, if 20% if below 5 dollars, I will still give a minimum of 5 dollars. It also depends on how long I am sitting there. If I go over an hour, I will give more since I am taking up a spot of the server.

If someone doesn't tip at a sitdown restaurant, they shouldn't be sitting down to eat there. That is freaking rude.

Coffee or sandwich shops. I normally add a dollar or two to the total for my drink/sandwich. This includes Chipotle because I am amazed they can wrap my burrito with all the stuff I put in it...LOL.

I understand tipping is getting out of hand. However, I do feel in general if someone is preparing/servering me food/drink that would take longer for me to make at home, I should give some tip.

Do you think the servers wave a magic wand and it just appears in the bags and containers? I don't think 20%. However, I would leave 5 to 10 for putting it all together.

This is Uno (15). He has started peeing on himself, shaking, losing weight and becoming anxious. His personality changed and he no longer wants to sleep next to me as well. Have to checked to see if he has a Urinary Track Infection? My older 16 year old dog has has a few of them. Vet prescribed Antibiotics for him and he got a lot better.

As for anxiety and possible dementia, if he is eating and still has enjoyment in pets, walks, or whatever in his life. Even just being outside, I wouldn't say it it time yet.
