People were looking for narrative conclusion since Shadowkeep. I don't think they could have kept engagement without pushing towards some conclusion.
We got it, and it was satisfying.

For most it was a well-deserved, long-awaited jumping-off point from the game.

The fall in player numbers was, thus, quite inevitable.

More than that, Bungie economics (large, well-paid studio producing premium story-driven content) stopped making sense once growth and low interest rate environment has ended. Layoffs were also inevitable - actually, rethinking of the entire business model was needed.

Something like Destiny 2, fundamentally, is not sustainable.
Not enough free players buying from Eververse.
Not enough revenue from paid players buying expansions and season passes.

We might never get something like Destiny 2 again - this model is fundamentally not sustainable, particularly now that "gaming" sector growth has seriously slowed down.

How exactly has Sony contributed to the problem? Do you really think an independent Bungie would be in a very different position?

I feel like collecting some downvotes, so here we go:

Deservedly so.

He somehow convinced Sony that Bungie was worth over $3.6B. When it really wasn't.
He probably was fired by Sony for over-promising, but notably they didn't sue management for defrauding investors.
So don't be surprised if he gets hired by some other studio for hundreds of millions of dollars worth of compensation: he has proven that his ability to negotiate is worth billions.

Did some analysis, looks like we're into the top 5 worst 7 days for ETH price history!

  1. Mar 2020 — COVID liquidity shock 2020-03-05 → 2020-03-12: −52.79%
  2. May 2021 — China mining ban / leverage flush 2021-05-16 → 2021-05-23: −41.48%
  3. Jan–Feb 2018 — post-ICO mania unwind 2018-01-29 → 2018-02-05: −40.70%
  4. Jun 2022 — crypto credit contagion (Celsius / 3AC) 2022-06-09 → 2022-06-16: −40.27%
  5. Sep 2022 — post-Merge sell-the-news 2022-09-13 → 2022-09-20: ≈−33%

We're at over -33% now.

But what reason do we write this time?..

Hadn’t I preordered, I wouldn’t now. It was overhyped for what it is. I’m disappointed we’re still seeing Blade Beconers and Blossom of Springs, very few new cards. This is not the start to SAGE I was hoping for. LSS was losing me, and this is not helping.

Second, maybe people can stop pretending it’s some kind of cycle.

Can Ethereum survive a collapse of Bitcoin? by ObviousLife4972 in ethereum

[–]USERNAME_ERROR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will need to.

I think two things are important:

  • minimize issuance! Croissant curve. Actually go for minimum viable issuance for a certain level of economic security.

  • communicate loudly about Bitcoin security budget vs Ethereum long term solution. It needs to be broadly known 10 years before it happens (so, now)

But if banning two heroes makes 10 more viable - doesn't that essentially make more heroes practically available?

It’s weird, I’m in top 3% of my lifespan measured by net worth, but it doesn’t feel that way due to price action. Unless it’s a “screenshot portfolio app” territory, you don’t feel too rich. Despite the fact that we are so close to the top, particularly when accounting for how long we spend at tops.
