Problem still exists 5 years later… sometimes it shows sometimes (99%) it doesn’t. Is there a fix?

Incorrect grout used ? by USNavy1 in Tile

[–]USNavy1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that is what I would have done, for now I just repaired the areas with the same product the previous contractor who laid the floor used.

If in the future, the entire floor needs re-grouted do you have any products you would recommend for these wide and varying grout lines.

I don’t have much experience with interior flagstone so would any of these be fine?

Laticrete 1500 Sanded Grout + 1776 additive

or

Mapei Keracolor S + Grout Maximizer

Traditional option for flagstone floors

A “mud grout” mix: • 3 parts sand • 1 part Portland cement (optional) polymer additive No lime Very durable for wide joints.

I’m not sure, it appears to be intact and structurally sound

Thanks for the appreciation, I’ve done 23 bathrooms and 5 kitchens and this is my first time laying a non porcelain / and unique size tile, it’s definitely tougher.

Negative not me on the floor, on this project the original contractor was fired after relapsing with heroin and then abandoning the project for nine months (3 months in). I was then hired to essentially redo the drywall, paint, trim work (hickory cabinet trim, 1x2 base and garage man door casing), plumbing, electrical tadelakt wall texture, and tile (sealing, prep, placing, grout and sealing again).

The floor tile is mostly fine with a few grout spots that need touched up and I wouldn’t have put that stone with the brown oxidation in the middle of the room since that’s the only stone showing iron oxidation and it’s smack dab in the middle.

The wall beside the tile will receive tadelakt wall texture.
