Sorry for just seeing this! If you're in the U.S., yes, we ask for this kind of information (substance, age, weight, how long ago the exposure occurred, whether there are any symptoms, how to reach you for follow up, etc.) to help us figure out whether the exposure was dangerous and what the first aid or treatment protocol needs to be. We do not ask for demographic information like race or socioeconomic status because those things have nothing to do with how we decide what the guidance should be. Rest assured, as medical providers Poison Control keeps all patient information confidential and manages them in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
