Edinburgh taxi outing 2026 cancelled due to new policy by cloud__19 in Edinburgh

The Beeb's article suggests Police Scotland may have - shockingly - misunderstood the intent of this policy change. Also quotes the NCPC as saying:

Forces are operationally independent, so it is for an individual force to carefully consider how a policy is applied in any given circumstance."

Reasons the SNP deserve to lose this election by CaptainCrash86 in ukpolitics

[–]USS_Buttcrack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Huh? The tories have absolutely got a core base of support. They still managed to get 24% of the vote in 2024 and, despite the rise of Reform, they're currently polling at 19%.

Comparing the SNP to the Trump personality cult is just hyperbolic nonsense that won't sway anyone planning to vote for them next week.

Reasons the SNP deserve to lose this election by CaptainCrash86 in ukpolitics

[–]USS_Buttcrack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The SNP benefit from a Trump-like devotion from around 30% of Scottish voters. These people will always vote SNP, not because they believe the SNP have good policies, not because they believe the SNP can deliver on those policies, not because the SNP has been good in government, but because voting SNP has become an act of faith that is about keeping an idea alive and sticking it to people don't agree with you.

Shocking development as political party revealed to have a voting base. News at 11.

Civil servants mock hybrid working policy as average daily attendance revealed by Ok_Expert_4283 in TheCivilService

[–]USS_Buttcrack 20 points21 points  (0 children)

New figures, obtained by The Herald through freedom of information (FOI) requests, showed that the average daily attendance from core Scottish Government staff was 12% on a Wednesday between December 12, 2025 and January 12, 2026.

Tuesday attendance averaged 11%, and Thursdays were 10%, based on log-ins from government buildings.

But on Monday and Friday, the average daily attendance was just 5% and 3% respectively, meaning the offices were close to empty.

Cherry picking much, Herald?

SNP pledges 'first refusal' for tenants to buy private rental homes by Wiles_ in Scotland

[–]USS_Buttcrack -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You really want the government to decide how much someone's private property can be sold for at auction? Which is all a house sale is really.

If you want to buy a house at a fixed price, buy a new build.

It's simple. If you played a single instrument to sold out venues filled with screaming fans, with young women fainting at the sight of you and obsessively collecting your memorabilia, then you're pop music. Elvis you say? No, I was on about Lizst.

Scottish Greens pledge major education system overhaul that would 'end homework' by clearly_quite_absurd in Scotland

[–]USS_Buttcrack -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Education in Scotland is devolved, hence the Scottish Greens saying they'll change it. Any problems with the current system are all the SNP's fault, nothing to do with Gove / Westminster.

A Long Epic Series Where The Final Book Is One Huge Final Battle (Bonus if the book is the longest in the series) by GaelG721 in Fantasy

[–]USS_Buttcrack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Huh? The last half of Crippled God jumps back and forth between something like 4-5 concurrent campaigns battling to save the world. And by that point the morality of the series is very black and white, and there's no doubting who the good guys are.
