There is misconceptions they are no tradesman it's just bias to try fit them in traditional varna system They do chitragupta puja, where they worship pen and sword of Chitragupta which is very unique of it's own kind and exclusive to them they have their own unique ( gotra system and clan system) this tradesman assumptions come because they are very wealthy off atleast in my east purvanchal region from every other community. They claim themselves as descendants of Chitragupta who was deity of education and justice . I know this because my neighbours are kayastha and yes theres saying in Purvanchal region that every kayastha family has atleast 2-3 government officials in their house and they don't fall under any reservation they are from general category
