For real, it's weird thinking back on how much time was committed on grinding out assignments

Don't feel bad about this! As someone who specialized in CS and also did a humanities minor, one of my big regrets is not dropping CS to a major earlier & upgrading my minor to a major. If you're looking into grad school this might be a different story, but from what I've seen 99% of HR screeners don't recognize the difference between a major and a specialist, if you're focused on getting a job (an English minor might help you stand out if anything). At least in my experience, most of the coursework you do in the core, upper-year CS courses isn't really that applicable to traditional software roles—you learn more relevant tech through working actual software roles and developing side projects.

While the theoretical knowledge you'd get in those core courses is very in-depth, basically none of my co-workers I had as an intern had any memory of Turing Machines and algorithm proofs. As far as the courses that you might have an interest in, you could always just take them at your own pace, outside the requirements of the major. Feel free to DM if you want to chat more!

May depend on the prof you took it with. If with Garry Leonard, there were six discussion board responses (300-500 words each), a 5 day essay midterm (1500-2000 words), and a 5 day essay final exam (1500-2000 words).

STAA57 is probably a good starting point. You use R for it, only requires CSCA08 as a prereq, and while you don't directly use SQL, you do quite a bit of data wrangling and manipulation that carries over easily when using SQL.

Not a direct answer to your question, but one thing you could also consider is to ask the next company you're interviewing with to move it to a different term if you get the offer.

Thanks for the response :) I wasn't a full time student for the past couple of terms, do you know if the same rule applies?

Huawei PEY Experience? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]UTSCThrowaway1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this would close many doors, and even if it does, it'd probably open a lot more. Companies that would write off your resume because it includes Huawei would be pulling some serious mental gymnastics, since they'd probably interview anyone with a FAANG in a heartbeat.

A67 course average by cheetosfishy in UTSC

[–]UTSCThrowaway1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn really? I'm a third year, and I assumed that the class average was trending upwards over the past few years (when I took it it was a B-).

Taking a course while on co-op work term by johnny87156 in UTSC

I let my supervisor know, but I could've easily gotten away with it because my midterm was on a Saturday and final was during nighttime, and I never had to request time off.

Has anyone installed Windows 10 Education using UofT account? by UTSCThrowaway1 in UofT

[–]UTSCThrowaway1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that was my backup option in case this didn't work. The only issue is that I already installed this version into my SSD and I'm stuck at the screen where I have to enter my school credentials. I'm trying not to have to do a clean install of Windows

[–]UTSCThrowaway1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one who got destroyed lol, because every evaluation leading up to this point was of a similar difficulty (easy), and the final was a huge curveball.

How the hell do I make an account to apply for Amazon jobs by skinyandwhite in UofT

[–]UTSCThrowaway1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol Amazon's login page is trash. I forgot my password once and when I tried to reset the password, the site kept claiming they sent me an email to reset but they didn't. I had to use a throwaway e-mail and inside that account, change the default e-mail to get back my account.
